I am a scratch player and I have been using them for about a month now. At least for me, it is unquestionably the longest ball I have ever played. I even proved it with a trackman. picked up 5-10. truly. Perhaps its my specific launch conditions but its just deep! Also, I played two very windy rounds and was VERY impressed with how it performed. Better than the Prov I have been playing. I like the feel a lot. I really didn't like the Elixr and this is a huge improvement. The greens in Eugene are too soft right now to be able to determine action around the greens but so far they seem comparable to other premium balls.

Pretty good deal on them now with Oncore's Black Friday sales.

Agree.  Pro V1 fanboy here, but these are every bit as good and maybe a tad longer than my trusty Pro V1.  I'm gaming it for $10 less and no loss of distance and feel.

Sounds like the Spalding Tour SD X (Pro V1x clone) that I am playing.  I had a great round yesterday in 30 to 35 mph crosswinds.  One par 3 against the wind and no holes with the wind at my back.   I hit every fair except one slight miss.  Works well with 7 irons into the green and even a 5 wood.  It seemed longer that other balls but probably 5 yards max.

The Spalding is $18 a dozen and is sold by the company that owns Nitro.  They make a Pro V1 clone too.

Yes they were. Don't give OnCore what they want and drive discussion/visibility of their brand. I'm fine with marketing and product placement but not in the inappropriate way that they did. This thread should probably just be deleted honestly.

I don't know if there are moderators here (?) but it would honestly be great if this thread could be deleted/archived or something so OnCore doesn't get the increased visibility/exposure that they wanted.

Are these the balls Gary Players son was trying to promote during the Lee Elder tribute thing at the Masters?

Yes and let's not let GP off of the hook on this as well. GP is an investor in that ball company and a brand ambassador. GP has always been about GP and that will never change. His son Wayne is just as bad. Especially the stuff he pulled during the 2018 Masters.

This is on Wayne Player not OnCore the company

The people at OnCore, if they were serious, should dump Gary Player and his moron son Wayne

Wayne Player sounds like a total jackass

I agree that I don't think Oncore was "in" on the plan to have Wayne Player hold the sleeve of golf balls up for free product placement. However I do think it reflects poorly on their brand.

Kind of a shame because the golf balls are actually a decent DTC option.

Obviously this is conjecture, but I'd find it hard to believe that OnCore was completely in the dark about what GP, WP were doing.

You see this kind of move in marketing constantly, literally all the time. Company employs controversial marketing tactic, controversy and increased visibility ensue, company denies they were directly involved, company benefits from increased visibility and may or may not take temporary negative hit to public perception.

Most of the time the negative perception of the brand is temporary and is far outweighed by the heightened brand awareness. For example in this instance likely hundreds of thousands of people suddenly are aware of the brand OnCore golf when they had previously never heard of them. Many of those are of the opinion "OnCore doesn't seem so bad its just this jerk WP".

Again it's possible this wasnt planned and OnCore is innocent, but its just such an easy and effective marketing tactic that I cant believe OnCore wasnt involved. I've worked in a marketing adjacent field for a decade and this type of stuff is used all the time.

So is this ball any good ? Any reviews ?

From what I've read it's an average/good DTC catalogue 4 piece ball made at Foremost like many of the other DTC brands. Probably comparable to Vice Pro Plus, another 4 piece made at Foremost.

I had not heard of this brand of golf balls before the Player clan fiasco.  Honestly, I am now more unlikely to purchase and try this product. In my mind, if a company needs to hire this type of product endorser(s), it says a lot about the company and, likely, the quality of the product.

I agree with above. This is not on OnCore! This is on Gary & Wayne. They planned it. I truly believe OnCore had no part in this.

I read in a different thread that Gary is an investor in OnCore so it no doubt directly benefits him for Wayne promoting the company.

Have you played the ProV1 x "left dash" or as shown on the ball "---ProV1x"... by far the longest ProV1 out there. I was seeing ~20% less spin RPMs from other premium balls. It's almost too firm for some of the greens nowdays. Worth a try though if you haven't.

He maybe, and if he knowingly let his DB son do this, maybe Augusta should ban Gary! OnCore imediately distanced them selves from this stunt. Also OnCore should look hard at their relationship with Gary. It's a shame because they really are great balls. I started with the Elixr and have moved to the Vero. I have my wife playing the Avant 55 also. People who are condeming the company for this hopefully don't live in galss houses. To immediately jump to the conclusion that OnCore knew and planned this is unfair. These same people may even be hurting their own game by not giving these balls a try.

What’s really stupid is he could have just pulled the sleeve out and removed one ball and put it away after handing GP his golf ball. The exposure is already there but instead stands there like a DA with the sleeve on display. Tasteless.
