for what its worth over on TCC someone said this same putter will be released at retail just without all the JT inspired by branding... probably cheaper price point i would think also

I think this is wishful thinking on everyone’s behalf.  Only a couple of times has a Limited Edition made it to retail, only a Holiday ‘12 comes to mind albeit a different finish and black shaft. I think this release is fitting for something a lot of people have been asking for, to just give a few a crumbs. If he releases a slant neck mallet to retail (other than the already released fastback special select) it will not be this shape.

I guess I'm not so sure about that

I agree with you that it would seem unlikely, but I'm not ruling it out

the Global limited comes to mind as shape that made it to OTR, ie the fastback special select 1.5 that you mention above

I think the only differentiation might be the welded neck, which is still a pretty cool feature that'll never come to OTR (LOL i think)

We’ll have to wait and see I guess.  It would make sense for this to be a trial run for the neck, but welding all those necks wouldn’t make sense. Likely just mill it like Toulon Vegas H7?  Since he has mallets with a slant neck, this might just be a one off run?  X5 shape is still popular by in large just dated in that exact form.

Ya, always keep us guessing.

Seems like we had a heads up about what the select line, and no one believed it.

We'll find out soon enough.

You’re not wrong on the rumors of the select line being true, so that has me wondering. I just can’t see the X5 head staying strong 5 years on but the Newport is still cool.

I heard it was coming as well but also heard that next years putters will be back to an "insert" style and not the milled face like the release.  By far not 100% on this, just the word I got.  If JT wins a major the price goes vertical.  just look at what happened to the button backs when BK was winning

People asking $1700+ for this putter on the bay.  Doesn’t look like a lot of people are pulling the trigger at that price.

If you check the SOLD listings, a number of them have sold for quite a profit.

Now that I can see happening

Yah, you can never tell.  I won't be surprised either way if it gets released or it doesn't

But I would think it would be different enough from the IBJT in a significant way.  Guess we'll find out!

Everyone that is whining in this thread would take one in a second if they could get it at retail and flip it for the prices they are going for on eBay. Often those that whine the most are those that lost out on a flip.

JT is cool, and the welded neck is cool,, but for me the most compelling feature is the SS face/body.. I am not a fan of the Aluminum body of the current mallets..

Edit to say that I am an odd bird in that I do like the current phantom designs and look just not all the Alu...

These inspired putters are selling for $1100 up to nearly $2k so clearly the $850 wasn't high enough.  Scotty always leaves room for the flippers since they buy up all his supply before the actual users can.  Nike sneaker clone.

Doesn’t matter. If they retail for 2K they’d just flip for 3K.

I don’t understand why you come into a thread about the JT putter and try to say there’s no demand for it because the Phantom X line sucks. The ones Dick’s/Golf Galaxy returned are the Phantom X line. You can’t conflate demand for one line of putters to every Cameron putter. People have wanted this putter for a long time. Mint condition X5’s go for $300-400 nowadays. Then you have to pay around $350 to get a slant/flow neck welded on. Now you have $650-750 putter that weighs a ton with aftermarket work. I’d rather pay $850 for a putter that’s properly weighted and 100% authentic.

I have several SC putters.  The current JT Phantom (Not the special addition) Phantom...for me did not have good feel or distance control.

Very inconsistant.  The limited edition doe's not have the insert, may make a difference?  Personally, I would not spend that amount of money for a putter.

As for the SC putters being returned I'm sure it was number of sales vs price point.  It is all personal preference...If someone wants to spend $800.00 on a putter, good for you.  For me, Having 3 SC putters is plenty and as I stated I have the original JT design which I'm sending to SC for refinishing.  It had been the best performing putter I have owned.  I haven't had the opportunity to be fit at SC studio...but I have been to Ping, Taylormade and Callaway facilities for complete fittings.  Just my opinion I can find a putter that is fit to my specs for less than $800.00.  Hope you enjoy the new model.  Let me know how it performs for you.  SC makes some of the best putters available.  Just FYI...I recently gamed a Odyssey Stroke Lab Black S #10s putter...great weight and feel.  Able to gauge speed and alignment was spot on.  I gave $200.00 for it.  Many choices out there.  I also have a Taylormade Spider...great putter.  My SC Squareback and original JT Phantom are my biggest gamers.  As long as you enjoy what you are gaming and have fun...all that matters.

I agree. He’s had a good 30 year run but I predict 30 years from now we will be asking “Scotty who?”

I think SC has made a good name for himself.  I have 2 SC...The original JT design and a Squareback.

The putter in my bag now is a Stroke Lab Black #10s.  Great feel, distance control alignment.  I gave

$200.00 for the putter!  For me, the innovation is fascinating.  The stroke lab shaft has a responsive

feel and helps me feel the head.  You can spend $450.00 for a putter...if that makes you happy.

For me SC seems to be recycling old models and making a mint doing it.  Good for him.

I hit my limit on SC.

My local golf store (shall remain anonomous) part of a well known chain, informed me the other day

that all the stores had returned a vast portion of their SC stock.  Were not selling at $450.00 a pop!

SC seems to recycle his models?!  I recently started gaming an Odyssey Strok Lad Black #10s.

I love the shaft and the response I get from the head.  Great speed control and alignment.

Everything is personal choice.  I've given SC enough of my money.

So, quit keeping us in suspense...did you go with the Odyssey Stroke Lab Black #10s? Please tell us you got it for $200. Popcorn ready.

got mine Saturday and it's been in the bag for 3 rounds.  not coming out.....could easily flip it but I love this thing

I keep debating gaming mine.  I was hoping that the flip market would be like - $900 to make the decision easier.  Now my dishwasher broke and I'm like "I can't put for sh!t with any of my other 15 putters, what makes me think this will be any different?  Just sell it and get a Bosch."

That said, I don't actually need the money, I bought this to game, and I detest the flipper economy - so feel like it should get used like my T22 (which I also average 37 putts with FML).

Ugh.

Share some more details - help sway my decision please.
