Still not the same as JT's. This is a small slant weld neck. JT's is the old flow neck custom bent into a low single bend.....still not what the people want and 8X more than the OG found on the Bay.

Yup, and he has a 10 gram and a 15 gram weight in his putter while this one is just stock 10 grams with no paintfill

You both nailed it.. not sure how they can sell this putter at such a premium price and not do it right. The weight part I could accept. That is a personal preference by him and may not be suited for everyone. But if you are going to market something with his name, and stamp his symbol on it. Then get it right. If I was jt I think may be a little annoyed and being misrepresented in such a way.

Responses to a few things...

1) All of the super limited pieces from Scotty (Global Limited, Holiday, etc) all retail for just around $850 so this doesn't seem very off...

2) Of course the necks are different. A slant neck is able to be MFGed in bunches. The neck that JT has was hand bent by Scotty. Would just be a CT if this has a hand bent neck.

I personally don't love all the branding, but seems like everyone has been asking for this for a while and this is the best we will get.

I don't get the price issue either.  A new, never touched by a human hand Scotty Cameron Special Select Newport costs you $400.  Let's say they offered a retail milled face X5 using the latest/greatest milling technology (which they don't) and you could buy it for $400 (which you can't).  Then let's say you sent that to a third party to put on a hand welded slant neck (sets you back at least $350 I should think).   That's dang near the list price here for a limited authentic run.  Anything touched by a human hand done, let alone a welded neck, from Scotty Cameron under a grand should seem like a pretty good deal, in my opinion.

I also feel at 2k pieces, they shouldn't be hard to pick up and prices won't be out of line with MSRP.

You can buy the modified ones with a better looking neck for $400 now on the BST all the time. Why would you drop $900 on this?

Who modified it?  Just because it can be done, doesn't mean it was done right.  I mean to say, authentic SC is always authentic SC.  Their prices hold.  It isn't like SC charges crazy prices and the values just plummet.  There is a reason for that.

I know it’s just marketing, but I’m confused by the whole “Phantom” part of this.  It’s clearly based off of a 2016 Futura X5 design.  There’s no aluminum body with stainless wings, so how’s it a Phantom at all?

The 'JT' logo is gimmicky as all get-out, the man himself doesn't even brand himself that way. Better to get a OTR and weld your own neck like the OG, it would seem.

He had it on his clothing somewhere this weekend. I remember seeing it and not knowing what it was.

Of course there's TW, and other greats like Federer that joined the wagon train. But, does every athlete need to jump on the bandwagon like they're a brand name like the first few I mentioned? Unless you're top 5 all time in your position/sport, leave the branding to your sponsors.... Until I can drop your name to some random person on the street and they immediately know to whom I'm referring, there's no need.

I think this looks pretty cool, albeit not a copy of JT’s at all. I like it as a stand-alone piece except for the JT badging, so it kinda is what it is. The secondary market for these are diminishing since he sets the initial price so high, but limited and holidays still at least hold what you pay usually. The T22 kinda broke the mold by releasing a way larger quantity than usual for that type of release. I really dig this putter as once you find a retail head and send it off, you are right around this price honestly ($600-700 at least). People don’t always remember you might have to refinish the putter after welding at most places. That adds another $150... total welding quote is every bit of $450 before putter cost. This will always have value where an aftermarket will vary in what you can get for it.

I have no doubt they will. But the sheer act of him peddling a glorified re-release as a limited - with an option that should have been offered YEARS ago as a stock option - is just stagnant.

But dont worry, I'm sure Scotty will take admiration of some new race car this year that he saw while in the South of France, fanning himself with the 1000$ bills he made from selling mass produced putters stamped with his name - and design a putter line after it.

And yes, my gamer is an X5.

I am a slight arc putter.  I have gamed Cameron putters for years.  I recently bought the Phantom 5.5.

WORST feeling Cameron I have ever gamed!!!

Took it back and now gaming a special select Squareback.  The insert in the Phantom 5.5 was hideous.

Not able to gauge long or short putts?!  Very seldom do I have a 3 putt.  The Phantom left me with several

over the time I tried to get used to it.  Cameron makes good putters, but you are a fool if you pay $800 and

some dollars for a limited edition!  Just different markings and paint.  Plus, the attention to detail is not

what Justin receives, I'm fairly certain Scotty hasn't 5 or 6 hours to spend on 2,000 putters?  Just my 2 cents.

Yep, only a fool would buy something that they can get their money back or more if they want to get rid of it. It’s not really a Phantom 5.5, it’s a Futura X5. That model hasn’t been available since 2015 and was never offered with a slant neck.

MJBFYB...I have a 2015 Futura X.  Looks like Justins...Great feeling putter!  Put a superstroke grip on it

and it performs well.  Keep it as a backup to my Squareback...Cost less than half of the new limited

addition.  Scotty is getting carried away on his prices.  One of the major golf store chains (shall remain anonomous)

told me they had returned a bunch of Cameron putters because they weren't selling?!  Food for thought?!

I don’t understand why you come into a thread about the JT putter and try to say there’s no demand for it because the Phantom X line sucks. The ones Dick’s/Golf Galaxy returned are the Phantom X line. You can’t conflate demand for one line of putters to every Cameron putter. People have wanted this putter for a long time. Mint condition X5’s go for $300-400 nowadays. Then you have to pay around $350 to get a slant/flow neck welded on. Now you have $650-750 putter that weighs a ton with aftermarket work. I’d rather pay $850 for a putter that’s properly weighted and 100% authentic.

There are a lot of Scotty Cameron "collectors" who never actually use the limited/rare putters, headcovers, bags, etc they buy.   They simply hold on to them until someone is willing to pay them a premium for it.  This putter will be the same story.  Expect a lot on ebay and BST for $950-1200 or more starting 9/22.
