KHT Autoflex shaft

You should always clamp enough to just hold any shaft in place. The club head placed against the stop of your shafting rig, whatever that may be, keeps the club from moving away as you slide on the grip, not the pressure of the clamp.

That really sucks!   Whenever I regrip a club, I don't use a clamp or other device.   I do it by hand. Always have.   Grip goop is cheap so I just use tons and grips effortlessly slide on.   It will drain out when done because I sit them upside down on a paper towel or two.   Comes out of the hole on the end of the grip.

I treated my AF gingerly on anything I have done to it.

Still love it with TSi4 (also TSi3).

Yes.  As light as possible.  I was talking with a friend about his decision to buy this shaft without a chance to demo it, and watching as he was gripping it. He put it in the shaft clamp as usual and as soon as he applied the clamp we heard a sickening “crack”!  $800 bucks down the drain!

Decided on a whim to use Global Golf's U-Try to give the Stealth Plus 9* a whirl. Based on the youtube reviewers, I expected not much difference from my SIM2 Max. I was wrong - for me, the Stealth Plus is pretty incredible paired with the Autoflex.

I took the sliding weight out and added lead tape to bring it up to D0 and I've been absolutely bombing it. Which bites for my wallet. 🙂

I bought a SF505 and really seem some serious ball speed and related distance gains.  My driver is an Epic Max LS.  Since I was launching it a little high (16 degrees set on -1 from stated loft) I pulled the stock slider weight and replaced it with a 7g one.  Bad results----like 19 degree launch and over 4400 RPM of spin.  My swing speed is from 99-105.

Any suggestions on a better head combo for lowering the launch angle?

Since going lighter did the opposite of what you wanted try going heavier. If you can't get heavier weights try lead tape, or use both the weights you have in the track.

Same head with lower loft will be the easier route.

What's your ball speed, launch and spin?

Are these sim results only? No matter what those numbers may indicate what counts is what happens on the course, so I'd be looking at actual distance numbers. Hit ten balls with each off the tee, mark the balls so you know which is which when you go to collect them.

Yes, but what distances are you getting? And have you tried more weight? Launch angle, swing speed, ball speed and spin rate are all means to an end, but without knowing what that end is you can't be sure which combination is giving the best result.

Did exactly the same thing. No sliding weight and paired it to autoflex and got about 10 yards more carry then with my Oban Devotion shaft. No quite as accurate but good enough.

With the stock weight set on -1 loft (from 9 to 8 degrees) my numbers overage of 10 swings were:

Club head speed 102.6

Ball speed 150.0

Launch 15.2

Backspin 2,631

With the lighter weight there were:

105.5

147.8

17.6

4,011

Thanks for any suggestions.

You can swing faster with lighter weight but the output/ballspeed is not there.  Your driver is not known for low spin and there's not lower loft option available.

May be try a low spin golf ball like left dash to shave a few hundreds spin off but it will affect other part of your game.  Probably need a new head and go down the rabbit hole....

I am currently using the SF505XX with a Stealth Plus 8.0, with no weight adjustments it is a great combination for me.  I am also testing Ventus Blue 6x just for fun to compare.  AF has been basically automatic so I prolly won't switch.

I hate Taylormade heads, I hadn't ever gamed one before the Stealth.  Buddy had an extra so I grabbed it, it truly is a great head.  Great sound, extremely forgiving and the soft face for me makes me think I am hitting it good every time I swing it.  I dare to say I may like it better than the Epic Flash Subzero...  Spin maybe a tad high is why I am testing Ventus blue 6x and prolly a Ventus black 6x/tx.

I tried the X shaft yesterday and I picked up about 5mph clubspeed but lost about the same in ball speed. Ball went fairly straight just not as far or consistent as the Ventus black 6X. I have the XX coming and was hoping it will be a better fit for 120ish club speed. Have any of you with decent club speed tried both the X and XX and found the XX much better? I have a Sim, Sim2 and Stealth head to test it with.

Don't know if anyone is still watching this. I put my XX into a Sim head with stock weights. The shaft is 44.5" long. I did a manual swing weight on it and it came out at C8. I added 6 grams to get it to D2 so I'm going to try that. I did pick up ball speed and hit my longest drive on the simulator with it. Just need to get it more consistent. The autoflex has allowed me to swing closer to my iron swing instead of staying way behind the ball and hitting up on it. Here's a sample of the autoflex vs my gamer which is a G410 with a 1/2" cut off the shaft.autoflex.jpg.062e5bea5c1254246c002c0789fe7982.jpg

Yep, I'm sure people are still watching this.  I finally got a allfit adapter and got it on my AF.  I got the ping, ping 2, mizuno and titleist rings.  So, I'll be doing a bunch of testing on the heads I have.

I'm reading the allfit thread right now. Looks like that's next on my list. I want to try the new Cobra, Callaway and my 410.

Put the Autoflex 505X into my new Rogue St Max LS and it was a bomber and dispersion was magnificent. I didn't think it would perform much better than my Epic Max LS, but it was even better. I guess the differences in setup between the two are:

  • Rogue ST Max LS head weighs 195g, Epic Max LS weighs 188g (both weights are not including the adapter weight)
  • Previously gamed the Epic Max LS with an All-Fit adapter, just switched it to a Callaway Red Dot adapter (Tour Flat)

I've tried the X and XX both, I swing quick, live around the 290-310 carry area.  XX is definitely better but haven't been able to beat my Ventus black 7x or 6tx.  I tried the Rogue Triple Diamond on the Autoflex and was having trouble... higher spin on the decent shots 2400-3200 and then dive bombing others, was all over the place, could have been me.  Tested the trip D last night with Ventus 6TX and was 300+ carry constantly and dispersion was much better.

I also tried the stealth plus 8* head in there, but it was spinning a bit much, I was losing 20 ish yards.  That being said the Stealth was almost hard to miss fairways.

Probably will try the LTDx LS sometime but I have the Ventus black shaft and have a Tour AD-IZ 7tx coming.  Spin was just too much with the AF as of now.

I was fit for a Ventus Black 6x when I was at TXG last week. I tried the autoflex in the Sim and Stealth heads and just couldn't get it to work like the Ventus so I sold it. The Ventus is center contact and just as fast as the Autoflex and was about 1/3 the cost. Glad that it worked for some but wasn't for me.

So i finally got my autoflex x 45.75lenght

I got the new Callaway rogue max LS - with autoflex my spin was simply nuts in the high 3000's and launch was 16-17 -

Same driver with 65 Tensai spin is mid 2ks and and launch is also down.

Now i really want this shaft to work since i really love the feel of it- However with the current situation im losing to much distance.

Im thinking abt ordering All fit universal and trying out my Sim driver in it.

Any suggestions and help will greatly be appreciated.

I had no chance to get fitted here in Denmark for that shaft so went out and toke a chance on it.

I am using a Sim Max in it and love it. Like you said the feel is great, and my distance and dispersion are both up from where I was with my previous driver. Can't imagine switching ever, and if and when I do it would just be to a new head with similar weight to the one I'm using some time in the future.

Based on my experience, high spin comes with the head being too heavy, swing weight too high.

Unfo we tried to mess with Rogue driver however it seems u cant change around the weights. Im now getting a TM adapter on it so i can test my sim on it with lower weight hopefully working something out 😄
