Golf bag opinions

In the market for a new carry bag.  My ping of 16 years is finally falling apart.  I’m looking at linksoul, Jones trouper and possibly an Oakley bag.  I carry 14 clubs and walk probably 3-4 times a month.  I would prefer a 4-6 way separator.   Any opinions or info on other options to look at would be appreciated.

I just bought a 2021 Sun Mountainn2.5+.  Looked at Ping Craz-e lite, the top is wider on the Sun Mountain than the Ping.

I've been a toting a Sun Mountain for the past 19-20 years with a PING Hoofer in there a time or two and a Stitch last year. The Vessel Lite is the best carry bag I've ever had. It's worth the money.

sun mountain 2.5 is my fave carry bag with legs. look at the jones utility as well. stitch makes a fancy ne too

I have a Jones bag and the top is a little small for my liking. I use it mostly for 9 hole rounds. 
 

I’m looking at the new Titleist bags for something a bit bigger,  but still on the lighter side.

Which Jones do you have?  That’s what I worried about I hate clubs getting jammed up

100% agreed. See so many of them out and about and there is a reason for that.

I have the classic stand, the smaller of the two. If I didn’t play midsize grips it would be much more manageable I think. It’s a beautiful bag, and I get compliments on it every time I take it out. For me though, it’s been demoted to rounds with less clubs or 9 hole rounds.

Stitch SL2 is a sweet lil carry bag.

I used to ride and use a staff bag, but recently decided to walk to work on my legs. I couldnt be happier with the change. It is sleek and very light weight. It has a 4 way divider, good for all 14 clubs and 2 alignment sticks, and some extra room for ur superspeed set.

There are plenty of storage space for ur gears and balls.

A lil pricy but black friday is around the corner...

i went with the 2020 ping hoofer. couldnt be happier. the bag is light and well put together in regards to pockets.  ive put it through 20 rounds so far with no issues. the straps are cushioned and i forget im even carrying a bag at times. well worth the money.

Titleist Linkmaster...not many people know about them and they are only sold by certain clubs. But if you can get your hands on one, it's worth it. Nice, sleek, light, no major branding. A classic look in many colors.

Slowly narrowing it down between the Hoofer, Jones Trouper and possibly the Vessel bag.  Going to go by pga super store and see if they have the sun mountain 2.5 there that I can put my hands on and check out.

If the Ping served you well, why not look at another?  I am enjoying the 2020 Hoofer Lite.  Ping's quality is second to none IMO.  The material on the SM bags is thin and wears easily.

Yeah I’m definitely going to look at the hoofer and hoofer lite.  Looks like the hoofer lite just has fewer pockets

Hoofer, Hoofer Lite, Sun Mountain 3.5LS and Sun Mountain 2.5+ are my favorites at the moment.

I think it’s between the Hoofer and the Jones utility trouper.   I really like the opening layout of the Jones bag.   I like the idea of having my putter in its own slot

I'd suggest going with the Hoofer then, at least if you walk.  That 2nd strap on the trouper looks like it doesn't work at all.

Ended up ordering a trouper 2.0 due to really liking the opening layout and their Black Friday sale.  Will be delivered tomorrow so fingers crossed.  I bought my brother the first version for Christmas and the straps aren’t as bad as I thought they’d be.

Trouper 2.0 came in today.  I love the club layout and there’s zero tangle .   The straps suck.  
 

The main shoulder strap is the issue.  When you single shoulder the bag it’s fine but when you pull the second strap up onto your left shoulder the main strap is shifted way forward making it uncomfortable.   I swapped the straps every way possible and never found a comfortable solution.

Maybe look at the Nike Sport Lite, exact same bag with way better straps

I'd return it and get the hoofer lite especially if you plan on walking and carrying. There's a reason Ping has been the number one bag in golf for as long as you can remember. 

 

In my opinion all of these boutique companies may look cool and are having a bit of a trendy moment, but they just don't have the money or R&D capabilities that Ping, Titleist, etc. do. So at the end of the day they just don't quite match up the the big brands.

I'm going to give it a few months and carry it a few times to see if the straps break in.  If they don't I can always buy a hoofer.. I really like jones club opening and organization.   There's zero tangle whatso ever

I love my Taylormade FT lite. Like it much better than ping hoofer lite

I miss carrying my bag. At 63-years old, it’s a push cart or an electric cart for me. Carrying is the way to play! Enjoy your youth, boys.

I have the Linksoul Sunday bag and an SL2 from Stitch. I LOVE the Linksoul bag. Super lightweight and carries 14 clubs, plenty of pockets and comfortable 2-way strap. The only thing I don’t like is the army green color. 
 

The Stitch SL2 is lightweight and very stylish. I get compliments on it all the time. It’s pricey and the pockets don’t have a lot of space (they are super tight and basically won’t zip with much in them). But it holds 14 clubs easily and is again stylish etc. 
 

I love both of these bags each for different purposes.

My 2020 hoofer arrived today and it pretty much destroys the Jones in every category.  Straps took me 2 seconds to adjust. Pockets are perfect and plentiful, I don’t need to carry a 12 pack onto the golf course with me like the Jones bag was apparently designed around.
