Any idea how backed up Mizuno may be?

Got fitted and ordered new irons almost 3 weeks ago.

I figured with virus going around there wouldn't be much business.

Wrong.  Equipment manufacturers are all backed up.  The pandemic has increased demand for new equipment.

Not only demand but most of the factories were shut down for some time as well as shipping companies. Logistics has played as big a part as demand.

We're already being told that almost ALL OEMs are projecting delays for next year, so if you're thinking about getting some new '21 gear don't sit on the fence too long.  You might be in for a long-ish wait.

Placed my order for G410 irons on 8/21...thinking the G445’s might be out before mine are delivered.

It might be never.  I would check to see if they can even still deliver G410 irons.  You have to remember that even under normal circumstances, they would already be transitioning to the G425 irons and by now, stock might be gone of the G410's.

I ordered a custom set of PXG 0211's on 11/2 and I got them on the 25th. I also ordered a 33.5" custom Scotty that same day, and got it in 2 weeks.

It all depends on the company. Ping told their accounts two months ago orders would be backed up 8 weeks. Who knows how long it is now... the situation with the virus hasn't gotten any better.

If he was talking about PXG (which I doubt) I'd believe it. I find it hard to believe with any other OEM. These delays aren't because of increased number of orders, they're because they had to close their plants earlier this year, are working with a greatly reduced staff, and limited supply chains from their vendors.

I live in the Myrtle Beach area, it's a golf mecca. You should see the racks of clubs in stores like PGASS and Golf Galaxy. They're not moving anything. Sure, they're selling some custom fitted ones, but the OTR sales are brutal. Don't think all the people who now have more time to play are rushing out to buy new equipment, especially those new to the game.

The newbies are the ones driving the used club sales, and most of those aren't through brick and mortar stores. How many people new to the game do you think are rushing out to buy $500 drivers, $300 FWs $275 hybrids and $160 wedges? Forget new irons at $1000 and up...

I heard a story that Parsons has extended the PXG hero pricing as long as he has because he doesn't want to lay people off. I heard they're working 3 smaller shifts, and are going 24/7. They're blowing out clubs at tiny margins (you can get the 0211's with MMT shafts for $84 a club right now.

What I don't understand though is how they keep getting shafts from vendors. A few weeks ago they ran out of MMT's, and replaced them with Accra's. Within 3 weeks they had the MMTs back in stock. The other OEMs can't seem to get out of their own way...

One last thing. Contrary to what a few here have mentioned, absolutely none of the blame for these backed up orders is due to "outside shippers" like Fed Ex or UPS. That's 100% false.

How about we just settle on the pandemic has created an increased demand for equipment new and used.

That's fine with me.

I have no vested interest in the bottom line of any OEM.

One thing I do have an interest in is increased play, and that was one of 2020's few bright spots.

No not PXG, it was Titleist.

Anything non stock is not available until at least the New Year from what I have heard. Probably different for each OEM.

You are right about the second hand market, it’s been great selling old gear online this year.

Just because I hate the haughty "Actually, you're wrong!" types, there's this.

https://www.golfdigest.com/story/golf-equipment-sales-surge-july-2020

According to figures from industry research firm Golf Datatech, the numbers from July for the sales of all categories of golf equipment moved into record-setting territory.
