Any idea how backed up Mizuno may be?

Just because I hate the haughty "Actually, you're wrong!" types, there's this.

https://www.golfdigest.com/story/golf-equipment-sales-surge-july-2020

According to figures from industry research firm Golf Datatech, the numbers from July for the sales of all categories of golf equipment moved into record-setting territory.

Nobody is being haughty, and you shouldn't waste your energy "hating" anyone... I only used the phrase "No, you're wrong" replying to a person who dismissively told someone else "You're wrong."

If you had read the thread (or been able to comprehend what you did read) before getting snarky you would have known that though.

Lets wait and see how year end sales of new OEM equipment in '20 compare to those in '19.

July sales were very big because most retail stores were closed for weeks and weeks prior to that, due to covid. When they reopened, they had months of backed up demand.  Customers that weren't able to be fit or would have bought in store OTR clubs were finally able to.

So yeah, July had better have been a big month, no?

No not PXG, it was Titleist.

Anything non stock is not available until at least the New Year from what I have heard. Probably different for each OEM.

You are right about the second hand market, it’s been great selling old gear online this year.

I'm happy for them, They earned it. Great product, and they've done a nice job this year getting what they can out as quickly as possible. That's why I mentioned how quickly I got my custom Cameron putter when I replied to you.

It's funny, I've never been a Titleist guy, but bought a bunch of their stuff this year. Their current line is really solid. I bought the Cameron putter, Vokey wedges, a hybrid 5 bag, and will get their new hybrids this spring.

I would've gone with T series irons also, I loved the T200's, but the pricing on the PXG 0211 irons with MMT shafts was too good to pass up.

Not one thing causing the longer lead times.  Perfect storm.

1.  March / April lockdowns - No one was forecasting high sales back in March / April (which is when manufacturers would have to plan for orders now).

2.  Factory closures - parts of the supply chain were out of action for a while.

3.  Shops shut.  A lot of communication between fitters and manufacturers stalled.

4.  Huge orders post lockdown.  Like nothing we've ever seen.  Lots more players working from home with time on their hands.  Some with furlough money are better off.  Very few booking expensive holidays....switched the spend to new clubs.

Very frustrating for everyone involved.  Players, manufacturers and retailers.  It will likely level out early in 2021 as supplies of components catch up.  Meanwhile if you genuinely want new custom equipment this year - try and stay patient.  Not much point switching retailers or brands.  Everyone in a similar scenario.

Have to dig into all the reserves of patience available, sit tight and know these aren't the world's biggest problems right now.

I got fit in early September and it came down to Callaway standard Mavriks or the HMP. I ended up going with the Callaway and placed the order on 9/4. Fitter told me he was quoting people 6-10 weeks (based on what Callaway was saying), but it could vary depending on what components they had on hand at the time. I had the completed clubs on 9/10.

Now, I am actually going to exchange them for the HMPs. I was talking to the fitter this weekend and he said Mizuno is 8-10 weeks right now. I'm still going to make the exchange tomorrow (12/7) because I get to hold onto the Callaway's until the HMPs come in and even though I'm in Dallas, I'm not playing a lot at the moment.

So, I don't know for sure how long the HMPs will actually take, but 8-10 weeks is what I've been told. So, I'll be pleased if they show up in January, but not shocked if it's February.

It might be never.  I would check to see if they can even still deliver G410 irons.  You have to remember that even under normal circumstances, they would already be transitioning to the G425 irons and by now, stock might be gone of the G410's.

Finally got the email that my irons have been built and were shipped Fed Ex yesterday...supposed to arrive by Friday, too late for Ohio weather but heading south right after Christmas for 3 months.

Only took 5 weeks!

Got them today and trackman numbers (outside) confirmed I've gained 10 yds distance, comparing lofts to old Callaway X20's. Dispersion is alot tighter too. And boy are they light!

Ordered my 921F day before thanksgiving and just got noticed it was shipped. Was quoted 4-5 weeks so I guess they were pretty accurate.

I really want some T20s but not sure if I want to wait another 4-5 weeks.

Wrong.  Equipment manufacturers are all backed up.  The pandemic has increased demand for new equipment.

Another side-effect here in San Diego County - due to rising demand for the first time in a few decades, golf courses have been raising their green fees.  Over the past 20 years or so with declining participation, they could not get away with it.....until now.  Any other regions seeing this?

The initial shutdown was very bad for courses in the NC Sandhills.  Reservations were cancelled all over the place as peak season was arriving.  Pinehurst Resort closed three courses for a while.  Eventually by late spring golf courses became very crowded as golf was found to be a safe activity during the pandemic.  Prices for rounds have increased also in addition to equipment prices.

I talked to Mizuno customer service yesterday. They have an 800# you can call and consumers can ask questions and get answers almost immediately.

Lead time is 5-6 weeks right now if all of the components are in stock.

They lost some momentum with the short weeks of Xmas and New Year’s.
