Vice Pro Plus - Peter Finch

Recommended Posts

So after finishing up the season this year I decided that I want to go back to funky colored golf balls, but not matte finish.  This leaves me with only a few options and Vice golf is one of them.  I love the Lime colored so I did the ball fitting online.  It suggested the Pro Plus... spoiler... all sold out.

I follow all of the typical channels on youtube... Shiels, Finch, etc.  Peter Finch did a video to "build his bag" and this one was the ball.  ProV1, TP5, Chromesoft, Vice Pro Plus.  Long story short, his new ball is the Vice ball.  While I am really sick of seeing their adds on youtube, I do like the color, performance, durability(new version) and the price.  Hopefully they come back in stock soon so I can put in an order.

Played the original pro plus lime. Bad cover but this batch is supposed to have been improved and looks like it according to the review.
Youtubers like Finch, Crossfield, and maybe even Shiels are good for

guidance and showing off new stuff but, I rarely take their word to heart. Maybe Crossfield because he has always seemed to be the most level headed.

But good on Finchy for giving some love to Vice...who has collaborated with Adidas...who gives apparel to Finch...🤫

umm... Crossfield "level headed'?  Comments on the Adidas thing, however completely leaving out the once Titleist and now Cleveland/Srixon/XXIO sponsorship?  Little one sided in the comment section?

Absolutely. He doesn’t rave about anything. Everything “just as good as anything”. And he continues to review things that are off brand of his. Peter does the same but maybe you should do a little digging and see the rift that Crossfield had with TM and why he signed with who he did.

Again, not a diss to Finch. He is a decent reviewer as well.

I enjoy watching all of them.  James Robinson is up there on daily content.  I have to sat that Rick Shiels has got to be the most honest reviewer of them all.  I respect the fact that not only does he test everything, but he has done reviews on this year vs last year and completely shut down the fancy marketing gimmicks.  I quite enjoy that.

I like Rick but I get the feeling that a lot of these guys get paid for mentioning and reviewing products.   I bought a Cobra driver based on Rick.  The cheaper one.   He gave a very good recent review for Top Flite Gamer balls.

The Gamer balls have been popular over the years. I remember they had a solid following here. The V2 versions were really well received.

Check out rick.  A lot of good content.  you'll be impressed with a lot of his reviews.  you'll hear "better than last year's model....No"  it's quite refreshing

They are normally really good about getting restocked. But I’m sure COVID is still making issues. I know we are still having problems getting raw goods from overseas.

I watch them all. Subscribed on youtube. Alex Etches, Shielsy, Finch, Crossfield, Martin Chuck, Monte, Chris Ryan, Whittaker etc. They're all personalities that bring something to the table. I'm most entertained by Finch, Crossfield and Alex. The other ones are good for swing mechanics.

I can't help but notice that Finch put a plug on his social media for Vice gear and ball giveaways. Again, not a big deal. Smart. He can work his cards and get some $$$ out of it.

Usually like Finch’s videos but thought this was one of the worst.   Seemed like he had a hodge lodge of higher spin firm, lower spin soft and would rather have seen a more direct head to head.   Would have liked him to thrown in Bridgestone or Srixon into the test.

I actually am really liking Dan Hendricksen vids a lot.    I know Crossfield is a love or hate relationship but I do think he has made some good videos even though he has a sponsor where he says a lot of the equipment is all good and really play what you like but be fitted.

I think both Finch and Crossfield have become unbearable over time.

Same with Rick, same with James Robinson, most reviewers have gotten annoying lately trying to pump out constant info that is not wanted and obviously forced.

Yeah, Finch = Adidas = Vice. Adidas and Vice just did a collab on a shoe. Not knocking the balls. I actually like Vice balls even though they're made by Foremost and a lot people tend to have a problem with that. I couldn't care less, they perform for me and the price is great. But I wouldn't say Finch's approval of the ball was based solely on performance. It'd be nice if Vice let you pick what comes in the test pack so you could try their various tour models head to head, similar to Snell. But you should get along just fine playing Vice.

Views = $$$. Can't hate the player. Hate the game. All of these guys are so repetitive and bring up many of the same points. It used to be a very methodical and artistic approach to videos and in the past few years, it just so inundated with creators that the next bar to break is insanely high.

Off topic but, look at Matt Fryer, Chris Ryan, or Russel Heritage. These guys are talking about the "secret move" for "straighter, longer, driver" etc. etc. These get clicks and this gets them money. Again, not a big deal.

I'm going to give the new Pro Plus a try. Can't wait actually. I need to finish with my boxes of BX and BXS. Snell also deserves a look.

Yes, I got the impression from the video that the fix was in for Vice from the start. But I thought I might try a dozen anyway. $37 if you buy one dozen plus $7 shipping. No thanks. I thought direct to consumer was supposed to be cheaper.

I don't know where you're located, but if you have access to Target, you can get Vice Pro Plus there and you don't have to pay shipping. Unfortunately you don't get the bulk discount, but at least this way you can try it.

I played the matte balls from about a year ago and indeed the durability isn't good. They're also more firm feeling, i don't really like them.

I wanted them to be good and i liked the concept, however, i don't feel they're really at the level of pro or tour level balls, considering their price category.

as someone just mentioned, Foremost. I recently have been introduced to some of their own range balls, apparently it's a ProV1, without the branding. Interesting to hear that they also produce Vice balls, because i feel they are better than the Vice i played.

I assumed they were much cheaper, however, locally, the pricing is around 56USD for a dozen. i'm pretty sure if you know someone, they can become much cheaper than buying from their website.

web_X4-02_201910.jpg

When it comes to Youtubers, i also watched most of the guys mentioned here, however, over time, the only ones that are consistent are Chris Ryan and Alex Etches. The rest are just "aiming to please" and playing the numbers for their revenue.

I'd say Rick is the only one who's fair in his product reviews since he isn't really biased, unlike the others who recommend only sponsored equipment.
