Ping G425 Hybrids - Spinsistency???

Has anyone hit these yet? I need to replace an old Titleist Hybrid and was curios how the Pings are testing......i have to be honest though.......this name is one of the worst I have ever heard.....Spinsistency? wth!!  lol

I tested G425 3hybrid with their normal 70ish gram Stiff shaft.

 

Top line: clean... love the dots instead of stupid turblance thingy. It looks slightly shallower

 

Feel: Not a great ball striker but it was solid. 

 

I think it will sell well.

I play my PING hybrids about 5-8 years behind release dates (still using G25), so I look forward to playing the G425 in 2026-2029.

Love the look of them. I've seen them in person and have hit the fairway woods but not the hybrids. The fairway woods sound awful, to be honest, but they perform and look great. I have seen some online reviews suggesting that the hybrids have a more flush sound -- not as clanky as the fairway woods.

Why do people get so worked up over the names of the tech on a club? Who cares? They could call it "lord fanny bottoms ball whacker" and if it was the best club I've ever hit then hand me my fanny bottoms.

I hit the 3 hybrid with stock Alta stiff shaft last weekend and it was unbelievable. I struggle to not overdraw or hook with hybrids in general. For me these seemed rather neutral biased. I could hit baby draws with ease, carry consistently in the 203-208 range and spin low 4k. I turned the loft down to 18° and the flight dropped accordingly. Looks and feel are so much better than the 410s.

 

Long story short the shop is holding the club in the back until they're officially on sale.

I prefer 425 as far as look and feel. 

Ball flight was slightly lower with 425 but longer total distance. Not sure that is good thing. I won't know until I take it out to the course.

I had a 410 4-hybrid that I wanted to love. I struggled with low hooks and it only ever seemed to feel good when using to chip with. It felt very firm...almost piercing if that makes sense. Like the ball was never able to compress on strikes.

Sure did. Straightened the flight out a little, but for whatever reason it was hard to play a push-draw with that club. The 425 on the other hand was/is much easier for me to start left and bring back. Feels much smoother too.

I just a fairway/hybrid fitting yesterday. 

 

Coming from Mavrik hybrid, the G425 is unbelievable good for me, the 19 degree G425 hybrid is longer, straighter, easier to launch, more workable than the 18 degree Mavrik.  Compare to my TS2 4 wood, the G425 LST 3 wood is again blow mine out of the water.  I ordered the G425 3 hybrid on the spot, almost want to order the 3 wood also, but kind of waiting for the new TSI2 or Sim before I decided.

Hit the 425 hybrid for a good 15 minutes on the launch monitor. looks great, feels great, only likes to go straight. going to be a winner.

I tested a 425 fairway and actually found quite a high variance of spin. As much as 1200rpms on strikes. What shall they call that, spinINConsistency?? 🤔

Not my findings, but I hover in 1.48-1.5 for fairway wood smash factor.

Mine stayed in the 800rpm window when I did test, but that was based on draw vs fade.

Look forward to the hybrid and driver making the max.

TSi2 fairways have been out since October. SIM2 demos are out now and in store on Feb. 19th.

I nabbed the driver and 3 wood weeks back and actually not long ago picked up the G410 hybrid which i am still dialing in shaft wise but is very good. The 425 will join the crew at some point i reckon. The 3 wood is great.

The store I went to don't have it yet, everything seems to roll out slowly because of the current situation.  They just received the new Srixon irons approx. 2 weeks ago.

Which shaft is everyone liking in the hybrid?  I hit it quite well with both the Alta CB in regular and stiff (I've always fit into stiff, but I'm gradually moving more towards regular in some shaft manufacturers).  The regular felt better, but I'm worried that dispersion may suffer at some point.  Wondering if the Tensei Orange in stiff or Tour shaft in regular might be the best of both worlds....but it's tough for me to find these in a demo a lot of times.

I'm sticking with the stock Alta in stiff. I've had very mixed results with the Tensei line.

People that have these or have seen them, from the pictures it looks very much like the Anser hybrid, which I think has consistently been one of the best received hybrids in a long time (saw a video of someone on tour, can't remember the name, that bought backups off eBay).

 

I'd really like to get the 19*, crank it flat and a degree down to 18* and see if it could be a replacement for my 20* crossover for teeballs and give me a playable shot from that 230 range in the fairway.

 

I don't usually order things sight unseen, but I could order one of these with a DI hybrid shaft and not bat an eye just off the looks.

Tried these out a few weeks ago during a fitting and was completely impressed. Had a g400 2H and the g425 3h was longer and more consistent. Sound was great, I had a slight baby draw on most shots and the distance was exactly what I wanted. Was in Alta shaft stiff.

Just picked up a 19 degree G425 hybrid with stock ck pro orange. Pretty awesome stock option. My intent was to go get an Apex but the Apex pro was too small and the Apex was too big. This was just right. Will see if it performs!!
