Wedge Options - straightest leading edge ?

Who can recommend a L wedge that is 60 or 62 without an overly rounded leading edge? 

 

my sm2 56* is perfect but the 60 edge could be longer and straighter

 

can you picture what I’m seeking?

 

Ideas?  Bueller?

I've had great success grinding wedge of choice and just adding tip weight or lead tape.

vokey D grind is quite square

Callaway mack daddy forged is more square in person than the marketing photos make it look like. Personally I play a Maltby tour grind 60 that is pretty square. I've tried everything and keep coming back. It has a narrower sole than a M grind which I like. I also play a taylormade mg1 in my 54 which is pretty square. I have to bet the 60 is similar.

The cobra trusty rusty wedges are very straight edged. If that sole grind etc works for you

Bent a smidge weak will reduce the small amount of offset that's mildly there at the neck.

Callaway Mack Daddy forged, Nike engage (no surprise the MG2 TW Grind is similar), I find all TM wedges to be on the straighter leading edge side. RTX 4 in lower lofts is very square.

 

Also for me the biggest thing is the hosel area - I use a vokey d grind, I would say the leading edge is round, but it almost has 'onset' so I don't mind. What I can't stand is wedges that look like there is a cutout in the hosel area (PM grind callaway would be an extreme example)

It's difficult to get a longer and straight leading edge from most OEM wedge makers.  Actually going to a custom builder is best, except as other may have mentioned, it costs $$$.  OEMs focus on certain specs that are best for mid-hi caps.

 

From heel to toe, I like a sharp and straight leading edge, with minimal cambered sole.  So had LW adjusted on a grinder.  Didn't have to take that much off 2016 Vokey 58/8 "M" and because it's playing length is longer than stock, swing weight wasn't noticeably affected, it's still D9/E0.

Buying off the rack and having someone that knows what they're doing grind them down is one way. Custom is another way. Using old wedges to learn and tinker is the most fun way!

Why not try to grind your own? I'm sure you have plenty of old wedges to practice on.  There should be a sticky in the WRX forum with instruction.

Looks like the pics were lost in the site conversion.  Too bad, a lot of good info was lost.  It was pretty easy, although I was doing heel relief.

Personally, I always found TM wedges to look much more straight on the leading edge and I like them for that. Outside of that, like another member said, I would go Vokey Wedgeworks as I know they have a specific option to straighten up the leading edge. You can even leave a comment on your order saying you want it completely straight and I'm sure they'll try to accommodate.

Without spending $$$ to get custom wedges...

 

OTR options that Ive seen have straightest edges are...

 

1. Callaway MD Forged

2. Cleveland Zip Core

 

I would agree that certain Vokeys have straighter leading edge than others, I would never call any generation's leading edge as straight.

 

I have the TW MG2 wedges, and I also didnt find it straight, although the rounded leading edge might be giving it more rounded look.

 

I found that I tend to do better with straighter leading edge on my lower lofted wedges, and tend to prefer semi rounded leading edge for higher lofted wedges for versatility around the greens.

Here for moral support...I also prefer a straighter leading edge as well, which is a major reason I play the original Ping Glide wedges. I hate the look of the extra groove and rounded leading edge of the Glide 3.0.

I’ve been looking into square leading edges myself, and my research has brought me to New Level M-Type.

Nike’s Engage wedges had very square leading edges, although not particularly long from heel to toe.

The old Cleveland Byron Nelson wedges have straight edges. Was thinking of sending mine to USGA to have them reviewed for grooves. I sure would like to play them knowing I met the 2010 “groove condition” rule.
