What modern classic driver would you game?

13 degree 2004 Big Bertha Titanium cut down to 41 inches  Ton of loft so it works with my sometimes negative attack angle.  I'll see divots after the ball strike location.

Every year at some point I put a 905r in the bag, still hangs with everything else. Spins a little high but definitely playable. I get 4mph ballspeed with the 905r than my r510tp.

Loved the R580, didn't get much time with the R510 but that would be my choice.  Never got along with my 975D.

My favorite older generation driver was the Cleveland launcher comp. So of the ones you listed my vote goes to the Launcher 400.

Adams 9015d all day. I still have one I take out once in awhile. 9015d/Harrison saga combo is so good

975J for me from that list. 

 

I just never got on with the 510. I did have it in the bag for about a month after I broke the shaft in my J-VS but I just could not hit it to save my life.

Recently picked up a Nike SQ Tour 460 with a 83 S blueboard off the bay. Decided to put in play today and was absolutely striping it. Didn't think it was much shorter than, if any, than the modern driver I have. Gonna put it play for the rest year because why not, the confidence is there with it and I was getting the distance I needed and hitting fairways.

I also really like a lot of the taylormade designs BEFORE they went with the stupid white paint (super quad)

Could still play the one in my closet with a proforce v2 and be very happy. Why have I spent $1Ks since then on newer tech haha

I voted the 975J, but I have the 975LF-E which is more open face. I also have a 905R with stock Fuji Speeder that is money.

I agree. Mine had the V2 as well. Traded it for another driver that I dont remember. But I do remember the launcher comp as one of my favorites.

Bridgestone J33P with a fubuki alpha.  Never seen that ball flight before or since.  Gets up, carries flat, runs.  I'm a little more consistent with modern stuff but distance has certainly not improved.

I just got back into golf last year after over 10 years away. I tried at least 10-15 different drivers up through model year 2018 or so. Finally I decided to try some older ~400cc models (thanks to this WRX post). I couldn't believe how much more accurate I was with those, and if I lost distance it sure wasn't noticeable using the semi-crude measurement of a Garmin G80. And the feeling of nutting one right in the center of an R510TP cannot be beat. I'm about to put a HZRDUS Smoke black shaft in one, can't wait to try it (and also see the confused looks at that head/shaft pairing lol)
