I'm probably in the minority here, but I think I actually prefer the looks of the back/cavity more on the older version. The newer ones look too P790 IMO.

I actually stayed away from the previous model because "KING" was so huge, was a turn off to me. These however really suite my eye.

That's peasant thinking. Fear not the King.  LOL

... One of the head scratchers I will never understand about many here. I just don't care about what the sole of a wood or back of an iron looks like. More importantly neither does my scorecard. All I care about is how does it look at address and how does it perform. Of course I appreciate a clean look as much as anyone but it is not even on my list to check when looking at new clubs. I played the original Cobra Forged Tour irons when they were released and most definitely not a fan of the gaudy bright orange cavity but at address I thought they were the best looking and performing players iron at that time and I loved playing them.

No need to understand it. If I'm going to drop $800+ on a set of irons I want them to look good. Every company makes good equipment that'll get the job done. Why not choose what I like the looks of?

... Since you asked, I guess because the ball and your scorecard doesn't care what your club looks like. Kinda like underwear that serves a function but you only see what they look like in your drawer, not when you are using them. But like many things in this crazy game why you choose what makes you enjoy the game more is your decision alone.

Hold your horses 🐎 bro 😎

even the underwear will make a difference “at times” no one can know When and How.

Like the looks of your iron will/might/can inspire to your positive “scorecard” and “shots” then when you might want/need/desire it 👩‍💻

You see - go with what you feel most comfortable (when you look at it or, just by knowing “it is there” for the ultimate score keeping)

Peace and happy choosing!

Anyone knows about the release date of the new sexy slim Forged Tec (not the chubby sibling Tec X though)?!

... To be clear I was talking about not caring how the rear of an iron or the sole of a wood looks. I agree the look at address is very important for many reasons. Ymmv ...

April 28th is what I was told by a cobra rep yesterday at a golf show. Got to hit them (7i anyway) and it felt really good. Better then the MiM I also hit.

7i was giving me 5000rpm on backspin so pretty average to maybe a little more then average for this category of iron, couple thin shots felt fine. Very clean looking in person. If it said tm, mizuno or Callaway on the back of might me the best selling iron of the year IMHO.

Personally can't wait. Though, the giant KING text is not really to my liking, the Forged Tecs 2020 have outright performed for me. The only thing that could replace this set is a better model and I'm hoping these '22s are just that.

... Never bothered me because I don't see it at address. But when I did a review of the MIM King Tours, yours was a common complaint and I altered it's appearance on my 4 iron to show what it could look like:

I think that's an improvement. However, having the "KING" on the hosel like the new ones is even better. True, I don't it at address, but I do see it in my bag. It's like having a player irons and then looking at the logo and saying "...nope...not quite".

Honestly, I was considering the MIMs but the logo changed my mind.

Looks like Cobra listened to us.

I'm eagerly awaiting the official reveal from Cobra. I want to demo them against the Ping i525's, TM790's & my current gamers the Apex19's.

I'm still gaming the Apex19's as well. I hit the i525 and while it's an improvement over the i500 I didn't love them. Can't wait for the new TEC's they do look promising.

I agree, not concerned at all what it looks like in the bag. As long as I like it’s looks at address that’s all that matters, then it just comes down to performance and feel. And honestly if the performance is outstanding I’ll learn to live with bad feel…..

Currently hit Srixon z765 with KBS c-taper shafts. They are now 4 years old and lots of rounds on them. Went to a fitting at club champion today with the mindset that something would have to really standout to make a change.

Went through zx7, 790’s, 223’s, and tec x with various shaft combos.

was all but set on the zx7 and then he pulled out the tec x.  They just got them in today and I was the first fitting with them.

holy smokes they are hot AF. I don’t have distance issues and focus on dispersion.

My z765 6 irons (26 degree loft to match standard tec x loft) average swings: 94 mph, 131 ball speed, carry 200 and 206-210 total.

cobra tec x: swing 94-95 mph, 135 ball speed, 210 carry and 218 all day. They have a soft feel if that is your thing.

Lastly, the dispersion was excellent. I actually sat there thinking “there’s no way I’m buying Cobra’s right”?

I’ve been playing golf for the past 8 months and I’m using a very old set of random clubs my dad had. I plan on getting fitted for clubs once the new cobra forged tech come out since a lot of peoples reaction seem very positive. But one thing I’ve been noticing is a negative stigma with cobra. I don’t really know any brand history or past clubs but has cobra been an underperforming brand until recently? I’m curious because I’ve seen on multiple forums that people are surprised they ended up choosing cobra.

... Brand snobs have shunned Cobra in the past but their drivers have been so good the Cobra brand reputation is growing. They have been making great players irons for many years now. Forged CB's were awesome as were the Pro 3's. I am currently playing the Forged Tour MIM irons and I think they are the best irons I have played.

I was told the sole was thinner than the previous version... could you tell a difference? I will be all in on these if they are slimmer than a p790. Will have to try to cancel my i525 order lol.
