2022 Cobra Forged Tec Irons

I absolutely love the look of these and would test them against PXG and Ping, Titleist if I was in the market. I love Cobra stuff but it just doesn’t drive interest to the masses. I was talking to my club’s head pro and they’re not going to stock Cobra this year, only direct orders.

... Been a head scratcher since the original Forged Tours were released. Granted the original in bright orange was a turn off for some but when I hit them at the PGA Show my AP2's were toast. I am currently playing the MIM Tours and they are the best irons I have ever played as a great combination of everything I look for in an iron. Look at address, offset, control and forgiveness. Yet I have never seen another set on the course. I will be interested in the 2022 Forged Tech because at age 68 I would not mind a few more yards in my mid and long irons. 4 iron is down to 190 and getting it back to 195 would be nice. A set of Forged Technology or maybe just the 7-4 combo'ed with my MIM Tours might be interesting.

At least to me, it's half shocking.  We don't move Cobra a ton, but we have all of the fitting heads and can get it on demand.  Srixon on the other hand, we move a LOT of that.

Srixon has a complete idea of who they, what they are making, and who the clubs are for. 5 series irons, 7 series irons, designed with the option to combo. of course there are other models, but that is their bread and butter. Clean and simple. One colorway throughout. And the 45, 65, 85, ZX have been successful.

Cobra makes some great products, but their irons releases are like throwing stuff at the wall and seeing if anything sticks. They at least used to have an iron model and a pro iron. Now its just these distance irons, these super GI irons, every once in a while a really good product that gets lost in the shuffle and probably doesnt combo well or match the aesthetic of  anything else in the brand. Some models are one length, others are not. Will it be copper or black or chrome, who knows? Maybe volt, yellow, or orange? Probably. Red, white and blue polls well, lots roll with that to nauseum. At this point they have combined Scion, Toyota, and Lexus into one company. And even when they roll out a nice product with a fair price, it's cast off as inferior. Not even just from retail, but even their tour staff is not playing new or retail iron models. Does anybody have an iron from the last 2 years in their bag? Probably more clubs that are +5 years old then under 5 years old. Seems like every Titleist staffer has T100 in the bag before they are even released. ZX7, in the bag.

Any word on the new MIM Tour One Lengths???

No, because there is no MIM Tour OL   Just the standard Chrome and Copper version.

Valid points for sure. Even if it was with the best product, it's hard to go toe to toe releasing with the top 3. I can only assume that they crunched the data and they feel that it makes them more money releasing the way they do.

I am in that camp of older than 2 years in my bag. My F7 one's still perform as I need, but I do plan on replacing them this year, and yes, I'd love for the new one's to roll out sooner.

There were rumblings of that being added to the line up.  I am well aware of the current versions.  I was asking if there was any word on the rumors of them adding the MIM Tours to the OL category.  Like the rumors stated....and like Bryson is currently playing.

Why must they write "Tungsten" on back?  Hell at this point it's more unique to find an iron without tungsten than with it.

... Evidently. And that is the part I don't get as a serious player. I want to hit everything in my category when making decision and brand is irrelevant. I was playing the T100S irons and loved them with no intentions of changing but the MIM Tours performed better for me so I made the change. Titleist, Mizuno or Cobra never entered into my decision yet I know may don't feel that way and aside from ego and wanting to play a name brand my scorecard really doesn't care what I play. I have not seen another set of Cobra players irons in the last year playing 5 days a week and often as a single. I have seen their GI or SGI's but like Rodney Dangerfield they just can't get any respect.

Rumors are just that.  No plans to bring a MIM OL to retail from those that I’ve spoken to.  But you know sometimes things change.

A couple of the smaller golf stores in my area are not stocking cobra or srixon anymore.  They too said the products just do not move.

I find this wild, and honestly if I was a shop I’d fit people without them knowing what club they’re were hitting.

Id bet both would sell more.

We actually sell a lot of both…to me both companies make awesome products and you are doing yourself a disservice for not at least trying them

Under construction....

I spoke with Cobra Customer Service this afternoon. They indicated the Forged Tec will drop in April. The CSR said they are busy with the Ltdx release.  Also, they wanted the Forged Tec drop not to be overshadowed, and for it to have its own spotlight.

Order in April. Get it at the end of the summer. Smart.
