Hi All - Thanks for sharing all the beautiful putters!

 

I got mine in recently - and I can't speak more highly of the process or how absolutely incredibly helpful (and patient) Alex was along the way.  The insight I got into my putting stroke (remotely) was tremendous.

 

I went with a donut glazed Anser 2D.  When I originally received it, the finish was _much_ darker than I was anticipating, but Alex was incredibly gracious - I sent it back, they lightened it up, and I had my putter back in 3 days.

 

The first two photos are of the original darker finish and the last three are of what it looks like now after refinishing.

The thing that I'm really excited about with the hand applied finish on stainless is that I know it's going to kind of wear at certain spots and look almost chrome/raw stainless. I have a chromatic bronze 009m that is very similar in color to glazed donut and the spots where the finish is starting to rub off or wear just make the putter that much cooler. I can't wait for my glazed Anser to get a good 3-5 seasons of play on it and look broken in. 

 

The PLD Custom program is stupidly good, if you're on the fence. I just think it's such a fantastic opportunity to get insights into your stroke and really solid advice on what would make you the best putter based on that data. Getting to call the shots on metal, finish, milling, etc... are almost just bonuses. So geeked to get mine (hopefully) this week!

I wanted to go with the patina finish but didn't want the upkeep. The glazed donut finish looks like a great alternative without the upkeep!

Just arrived yesterday. Should have been four weeks to the day were it not for FedEx boneheadedness. Loving it on the mat so far. To the putting green tomorrow. 
 

Anser X, black chrome shaft, 33.5 inches, PP58 mid. Shallow mill

I had the same reaction when I saw the pic I took - damn, that might actually be alright.  I was admittedly on the fence about sending it back, but in my defense it actually looks way lighter in the pictures - it was a very dark gray in person.

Here's my last preview picture! Putter is shipped and should be here Friday...

 

The finish is FANTASTIC. Absolutely perfect. I am really happy I got the "prototype" head with a bigger PING in the cavity. I love the green on this finish. I'm over the moon and I haven't even seen the face yet (I got shallow milling). Cannot wait to see this in person.

For stainless, the options are matte black or  satin…but your fitter will let you know about off-menu finishes like glazed donut and oyster.

 

For carbon, you can choose patina or matte black. I don’t know if there are off menu carbon finishes.

Won't get into all of the  details, but being lefty I had some initial concerns about availability and models offered. Alex messaged me this morning (I signed up last night) and addressed all of my concerns. Seems like the process is off to a VERY promising start!

Booked my fitting as well- 2 weeks for the fitting, waiting for the cradle/circle/ipod to come in. I have atleast landed on the finish, but who knows 🙂

I wish they would offer copper putters.  I know the next Limited PLD putter will be solid copper....but why not offer it as an regular option?

Has anyone gonna with the carbon or stainless because of performance or by recommendation from the fitter? Or has it been primarily a cosmetic choice?

Fit yesterday in person. Great experience. Was between the kushin and anser 2D. I will be going with the anser 2D, oyster finish, tr grooves and the mid pp58 with purple fill. FYI you can get the midsize pp58 with different color paint fills (think red, blue, green, yellow, purple and maybe orange?).

Very nice putter, I was expecting more of a glossy sheen to kinda go with a glazed donut, maybe that original pic and being outside the light could have looked better or maybe a different metal? Is yours carbon or stainless?

I was thinking the same thing.. that’s why I wonder if you can get a different finish for each finish color. This looks matte but I wonder how it would look in more of a brushed finish or even polished.

Possibly a lot of that isn't hard to do anyways, may have to ask Ping.

I had my virtual today. Was very cool and informative learning about your putting stroke. Only negative I would say is the engraving is very limited

After debate I was able to settle on a carbon Valor 4 prototype head in patina finish. 
 

As far as the limited engraving, I basically got the impression that some at Ping would like to open the design options wide open but top brass is limiting this due to Pings conservative reputation.

Yep. Very excited. I am a mid mallet fan and actually play the off the rack Tyne 4 PLD.  The Tyne 4 and Oslo 4 were offered on the "menu" but then Alex said they had some Valor 4 Prototype heads in carbon and I was sold.  After playing the itsy bitsy Spider putter for almost 10 years, the squareness of the Valor intrigues me.
