Went out to play 9 so missed the back 9 but looking at Kupcho's scorecard; it was a wild one. Clearly earned that win!

Unless shes going full Yani Tseng now, 12 wins in like two years at hear peak does Tseng still even play golf?

Let's hope no player goes through what Yani Tseng is currently going through with her game.

At least she won 5 majors though which is nothing to overlook despite the downfall.

Mission Hills will be missed. Is it the best course in the country? No, not by a long shot. However, it can, and has, played tough. The winds can be tough. The rough quite thick. Greens quite firm. Trees and water a major factor in the outcome.

In the past 30 years the winning scores have ranged from -19 (Dottie Pepper - 1999) to -3 (Nanci Bowen - 1995 and Morgan Pressel - 2007). The average winning score has been -11 (277).

Cuts have ranged from +11 to +2. The cut line has crept up in recent years, but I think it has more to do with the lack of wind, and the players hitting it longer.

Big congrats to Jennifer Kupcho!  Yes, she struggled on the back nine Sunday, but she held it together enough to get a great win.  I think the floodgates have been opened for her.  Watching Judy Rankin's tribute after the win was very touching, she will be missed for sure.  There is NO other woman in golf who could do a better job than Judy.

Thanks ... Your posts w.r.t. Judy Rankin tributes got me curious

... found this tweet & 8-minute video off Golf Channel & sharing here, in case it saves others a google-search!

Not sure what Judy's schedule will be for the remainder of the year, but she will be missed. Certainly one of the best analysts in broadcasting, and a great person.

I get a little misty eyed whenever I see a player like Kupcho reach their dream. It was compounded by seeing Judy Rankin tribute and thinking about all of the years she's been calling tournaments. She's an icon.

So this article pretty much confirms what @Stooch mentioned earlier, this tournament is moving later in April or possibly May.

What does everyone think is the best date? No matter what it’ll be up against a PGA event. The week after the Masters won’t work because you’d like an event the week before and Masters week will probably remain an off week. Two or three weeks after the Masters might work. Maybe Lotte moves to the week before the Masters, followed by an off week, then back to Cali for a week or two and then Chevron?

With two tournaments in SoCal in late April, it makes sense to keep the Lotte in April. The week before the Masters makes perfect sense.

With the USWO being in early June, and the Founders Cup and Bank of Hope the two weeks before it, the only real date is the first week of May.

Really enjoyed this week and the send off from Mission Hills as well as the JR tributes. While the course may seem a little vanilla it actually can create a lot of drama because if you are on your game you can go low but if you are off a little and the rough is up like this year you get a real test. The wild card has always been the wind. Fortunately Jennifer’s lead meant all the real chasers played in the same conditions.
I am very happy for Jennifer since her putting has held her back at this level. Some nerves led to the back nine misses but she closed it out and gets the final robe.

as for Judy what can anyone add? In my view she is the best sports analyst out there. Johnny Miller without the curt ness. Her natural ability to speak so well and concisely deliver relevant insight will never be matched.

They might have to abandon the history of having some top Amateurs play, which ANWA has already dented. The later you go the more likely you conflict with NCAA conference champs, regionals, and nationals.

Some thoughts:

Congrats to Kupcho, her putting was unbelievable.  She is not the most dynamic player.

Shibuno is the real deal  Too bad she had such a bad Saturday.  I think she's great.  Patty is not bad either.

Jessica played for the dollars and I can understand that.  Laying up on 18 was disappointing IMO.  Didn't have the right club for the yardage doesn't make sense!  Since when can a pro not hit the same club different lengths?  Taking a little off a 3 wood and making a 3 on 18 could have won her a major but granted that would have been a gamble.

I don't think the issue with the 3 wood was distance, but rather landing angle. There were plenty of balls that wound up in the back pond this week after coming in too low and hot. Choking down will take off yardage, but not increase the launch/landing angle.

Yeah. it didn't really matter if you could reach it or not it matter on the club you could get there with.  IMO they should have had a thick band of rough at the back (maybe 10 feet) that matched the lush rough around the rest of the greens.  If you really smoked it, it would still go in the water but depending on how hot it could get caught up in the thick rough, it would have promoted more people to go for it.  Plus a 3rd shot from thick rough at the back of that green would be no picnic for par.  A front pin, it could end up in the water with a bad shot from the back rough.

May as well put the backstop up. I never had a problem with the backstop, as getting up and down from the back was tough.

That's thing, you take away the ability to get there in 2, you ruin the hole.  Well rounds 1 and 2, I have no issue with it being a 3 shot hole but on the weekend it should be a 2 shot'er for almost anyone who hits the fairway.
