Titleist TSR2, TSR3 & TSR4 driver & TSR2, TSR2+ & TSR3 3 wood - 2022 Travelers

Played 18 with the tsr3 hzrdus black 4g 6.5 today. This combo really worked nice for me. The dispersion was so much better than my stealth plus setup. I’ll play a few more rounds with it before I decide if want to splurge on a ventus.
I’m really tempted to order that 18 tsi3 deal with the upgraded shafts. Which shaft is better in a fairway wood between the ventus red and the gd ub?

I think you’d be happy either way honestly. The UB is really really good but Ventus is Ventus lol

Yeah, I'll second that lol. I pulled the trigger on the ventus red setup. from what ive read from other threads the UB is kinda in the ventus blue category for launch characteristics if that's what you're looking for. I honestly could've gone the UB way as well but I figured down the road if I want to try and get a UB for a fairway itll be a little cheaper than a Ventus. If you get a chance TXG recently posted a video reviewing the tsr fairways and Ian was hitting them with the UB and he seemed to like it. Maybe you can get some info nuggets from that vid to help your decision.

One comment about how the VFT may actually work as advertised on the TSR2.

In a round yesterday.  One of the guys in my group hit a great drive dead straight down the center of the fairway.   We all commented on great drive.

i followed with what felt like and was a very clear miss off the toe (evidenced by the ball make on the face). I felt l was way short and way right or where he went.

I found my ball in the right rough but very playable.   I didn’t think anything of it until I looked up and saw his ball while in the fairway was only about 2 yards ahead of me.    Wow!  I mean talk about retaining ball speed on off center hits.   That surprised me as much as some of my longer drives with it have.

Had the same thing on my only round with TSR2 .....what felt like a complete whiff toey drop kick pop-up.....which it was......was just ahead of everyone's drive that were all hit very solid. Mystifying but I'm loving it!!!!

What if we were to tip the Ventus red 1", would that give a little more stiffness while keeping the launch profile mostly? Personally I can see the benefit of getting some more launch in the 18° especially, but not sure what the effects of tipping it would be.

I ordered TSR2+ and TSR4 driver on 9/5 at my Titleist day fitting. Shipping notification for the fairway was two days ago 9/21 and the driver was today 9/23. Pretty standard setup with normal lengths, Hzrdus on the fairway shaft. Only special item was VA Drago shaft on the driver.

Seems like the 2+ isn’t on back order like I thought it would be.

I have the Ventus Red untipped that I have used for more or less 2 years.  Swing speed 110and aggressive transition.  It really acts like a black and I had the black in prior TM SIM models.  It doesn’t snap hook which speaks to how high end the tip tech is.  Might launch marginally higher but really no difference otherwise vs the black.  The sort of high launch high spin really isn’t.  Look at TXG’s comparison of the Red TR vs Black TR! Red was no higher than the black and longer.

I’ve been down that road. Tipped 1” all the way up to 2”. The only thing it did was tighten the feel. It never really changed its characteristics.

Thanks for the info! Is that on a driver or fairway? I was thinking for fairway because of that deal people have been mentioning.

Has anyone pulled the trigger on the TSR2 7 wood? I have a 3 wood coming and added the 7 wood...just because 🙂 . I didn't hit and wondering what performance folks are getting out of it.

I was fit into it at my Titleist fitting, definitely a much smaller footprint compared to my TS2 7 wood. More spin as well compared to the TS2 which was good for me because I need all the spin I can get lol

I am very interested in the TSR3 5 wood especially if it has the much smaller head which someone mentioned, so any pics of it compared to TSR3 / TSR2 3 woods would be much appreciated, more importantly how does this 5 wood perform in terms of launch and spin?

From.the  TSi3 to r3 5 wood my numbers were similar. My current 5w is pretty dialed in. The TSr2 was a hook machine for me, but it looks and sounds great. The TSr2 3w is a bomber.  Great in all three lofts 3+, 15, and 16.5 (4w?)

The biggish improved from the TSi3 to the TSr3 5w are the extra two weight slots. Went one towards the toe vs all the way on the toe in my current 5w. The full face white groves/scoring lines are a visual home run.  1k Black launched a little easier than the AV raw white, same flex and weight.  1k shafts felt much better than the AV, also out performed all the Graphite Design shafts and Ventus. I really wanted Ventus red to work because it looks awesome.

Didn’t really need the 5w, but you know how that went.

Just had my fitting on trackman outdoors and really surprised at the results. He put me into a Tsr4 and let me tell you this might be the best Titleist creation yet. Ballspeed, flight, and spin were perfect I would have never tried the 4. Also put into the Tsr2+. Dont sleep on stock shafts I fit into the tensei 1K black in both shaft is surprised me. Glad I did a fitting I would have guessed totally wrong on setup. Titleist is in the game this year very solid wood offerings!!!

@fujiman.757 what weight 1k did you go with on the TSR2+?  I got to swing the 75X, fitter told me 85x was the way to go, but he didn’t have on in hand.

Just took my tsr2+ out on its maiden voyage to the range. 1k black 75x, all stock, and it’s legit the best club in my bag.  Can hit it high, low, straight, cuts.  I am coming off a 13.5 Tsi2 with the Tensei AV white 75tx.  The 1k feels much stouter in the handle (it even feels bigger under the grip). If you’re coming from Tensei, I’d recommend a flex softer in the 1k black.

As soon as the TsR2 is available in 8* LH, going for a fit to put the stealth plus on the bench. If they can make a driver that performs like the 13*, I’m all over it.

@MK Anderson that’s awesome and great advice. Trying to decide on the 1K Vs the premium shafts at the moment.

Don’t sleep on the 1k. It’s the best stock shaft I’ve seen. Can always pick up after-market later.  With what Titleist charges for upgrades, premium  is a waste of money if you ask me. And if you’re impatient and want it ASAP. 😂

@SBH9458I went with the black 1K 75x with plus 2 grams of head weight the 1K 75x is close to 80grams and A very stable shaft. The hazardous 4g was terrible for me

Did you go 75x in both driver and 13*?   I’m leaning that way…

Also I use a 68g grip, so had them put +4g in the head and still came out d5ish. Stout

Yes. I ordered an raw blue tax in driver and fairway and it has not come in yet. I ordered same time as you

I broke GolfWRX protocol and returned my TSR2+ instead of taking it out on the course today. Went back to PGA SS to compare the numbers for my fitted Sim2 Ti fairway (Ventus Black) vs TSR2+ (1K black) and was getting much more consistent numbers with the Sim2 and it was longer by about 10 yards (SIM2 is set to 13.5*).

I’ll likely just go in for a full fitting when all the new products from other vendors comes out early next year. I am now curious to see my numbers with a Ventus in the TSR2+ fairway…
