Tiger switch to Ventus Black 6x

ventus black really is a great driver shaft, just need a little more loft to play well and it seems to take one side of the course away. no surprise he's messing with it

What a coincidence. I got the ventus black 6x (tipped an inch) today to put on my 8 degree Stealth Plus. 

I LOOOVE this shaft. 

The feel on it is great. I can work the ball both ways but it still feels really stable and I'm getting great ball speeds and back spin numbers out of it.  I was actually looking for more of a boardy feel to eliminate the left side. I've tried multiple shafts from kai'li 60x, rogue silver 110 msi 70x, ventus blue 6s, Tensei av raw white 65x. The tensei raw white to me was the boardiest feel and I could barely turn it over but the feeling wasn't too great and I had lost some ball speed with it. The others (kai'li, rogue, ventus blue) were too unstable and I had some bad misses on poor swings. 

I was worried the ventus black 6x might be too much for me to handle after feeling like I was a little too weak to swing the av raw white but I'm so glad I pulled the trigger on this. Absolute favorite shaft of all time for me. 

I'm 168 - 170 mph ball speed but the Shaft feels great on impact. Bad swing will still produce over draws and fades but that's on me...

Yeah it was a loading thing according to him due to swing length and delofting, although not so much of an outlier given that the DI is very much in the same family as they old Blueboard he used a lot. He had a minute with Foley right before his back started falling apart where he had the Blueboard 93x back in his driver with Foley making unfortunately ill fated comments about how strong Tiger was getting again. 😬

I could be wrong but i am pretty sure he said he played the DI due to injury as it was easier to load.

Also, for anyone else who is a Tiger gear nerd, did we spot Tiger with a DG Tour Issue shaft label on one of his irons, it was maybe a wedge? Saw a video of him hitting shots on the range and caught a glimpse. Sounds mad but he has rarely had shaft labels on an of his irons, apart from testing stuff like the new long irons..

I believe he had a DG TI X100 MID in his P770 driving iron in the PGA, guess it's still there in the bag?

The two way miss is my specialty.  Even the mighty Ventus Black 6TX couldn't eliminate that, lol.  Let's see how long Tiger sticks with the VB.  Some of the fairways on the Adare Manor property had generous fairways so I wouldn't necessarily call it a good test for him.

He switched to the ad di in 2010, like a little bit into working with Foley, not sure if he was hurt then at all. 
 

One shaft he also played I haven’t seen mentioned was the fubuki tour. He put that in the driver as well which was another high launch low spin while he was with Foley.

sometimes if the butt is too stiff you'll try to flip it to get a kick...but that makes too much sense, TX?!?! you're a Manimal! even Rors just uses the X 😂

Naw, I'm not a manimal, lol.  Not anymore.  Rory's 6x is probably tipped 1.5 to 2 inches.  The 6TX I tested was straight in.

He only tips it 1 inch, which is probably close to a 6TX straight in.

I've played the 6X tipped 1" and the 6TX straight in. 6TX still seemed noticeably stiffer. Although that's probably mostly increased butt stiffness if you go by the info from fuji

He drove it great in Ireland. Not sure if he missed a fwy in 2 days. If he gets the rest of his game tightened up he has a chance.

yea from my experience tipping a shaft 1 or 2" still isn't going to compare to the same shaft up in flex.

Tiger does his tests and tinkers away from the public spotlight. When he bring new stuff to a turnament, he will play it.

The Ventus Black 6TX CPM out in the 280's.  It's noticeably stiffer feel wise compared to the 6X heavily tipped.

I was thinking the same but the fairways seemed wider then a range. I guess they will narrow them for the Ryder Cup in 2027.
