No surprise here.  Most of the low/low guys on tour have gone to the Ventus Black.  It was only a matter of time before Tiger went over the dark side.

Forever.  Remember, Tiger did play the DI back in the day and if you go even further back, he had a Fuji prototype when he first made the switch over to graphite.  Rory who's been faithful to MCA made the switch over to the VB as well.

Tiger also played the tensei pro orange for awhile when it was popular. Rory I believe made it popular when he hit like every fairway for a win or something and everyone started using it. He might if played the tensei pro white for awhile after that too and then went back to the Mitsubishi Diamana line.

When he went to the DI shaft he was with Foley at the time and he had more trouble getting the ball up with how short, compact and deflofted his swing became. DI is advertised as high launch/low spin but really is more mid flight shaft.

I’m glad somebody addressed that. I was really curious — seeing the DI on that list is a “one of these things is not like the other” kind of moment. I wasn’t at all in the know on equipment stuff back then, in part because I had zero dollars to spend on equipment at the time, haha. But I was wondering what the story was there, why somebody like Tiger would have been playing a shaft that’s so different from everything else he’s ever played.

Looks like Tiger is still using the Diamana D+ LTD in his 5 wood. If you look close you can see the white Diamana just above his hands.  I've been combing Getty Images to see if there are other shots of his fairways but this is the best I could find...

 

Edit: Just watched the DP World Tour's video on YouTube of all his shots in round 1. I can confirm that he is still using the Diamana D+ Limited Edition in both 3 and 5 Wood. I would guess that he is still using the 70TX and 80TX, respectively.

There was also a tiny moment in between the Pro Orange and the D+ where he had the DF in everything, although I don't believe those ever made it to tournament play. Thanks for putting together the shaft nerd list though so I didn't have to. 😅

Yeah it was a loading thing according to him due to swing length and delofting, although not so much of an outlier given that the DI is very much in the same family as they old Blueboard he used a lot. He had a minute with Foley right before his back started falling apart where he had the Blueboard 93x back in his driver with Foley making unfortunately ill fated comments about how strong Tiger was getting again. 😬

He's gonna have to get used to the ultra stiff butt section again for the VB.  All those shafts you listed play soft in the handle minus the blue board and TP7HDe.

I sooo wanted to like the black but it just didn’t work for me in 6S.   The Ventus line has to be one of the most popular ever, I see it in so many pro bags.
