Visually it's easier to see crowds from above. These ground level photos are a bit deceiving.

In fairness, there were holes where spectators were not allowed on both sides of the hole.  It is that way at other events as well.  I remember at the Senior PGA at Valhalla that I attended there were several holes where they had you on only one side I guess to prevent the need for a cross walk across the fairway.  The Grove is spread through a residential neighborhood. That whole left side there on eight is unmaintained rough and trees leading to the property boundary.  Hole nine as well.

I actually watch the DPWT and John Catlin is one of the better players on that tour. His signing by the 54League is one of their better moves. IMO

 

And this is coming from a poster that thinks the 54League is unwatchable/....

He was very good in 2020 and 2021 but dropped off badly the last couple of years.

Who is John Catlin???  Other than noticing he is on BDC's team, never heard of him.  Really...I had to look him up and shock, he grew up in CA.

Is there anything better in sports than a guy getting called up from the minors and then performing on the big stage? How can you not be romantic about golf

LIV has a group of guys they bring to events, and the team captain nominate players as backups in case of injury or sickness.  John is a fill in, for an injured Chuckie Three Sticks.  

 

He mostly competes on the International Series, and will likely be leading that after the next event.  So he can earn his full LIV card by winning the year-end points.  Or by currently sitting above the relegation zone, he might just be grabbed by a team in the off-season.

 

Apparently he played with Bryson in school.

I don't know anything about the guy but in a field with little firepower or depth, any competent golfer stands a good chance of placing high.
