New Stealth on its way?

Recommended Posts

If they come out with a new driver, try it. Or don't. If you like it and want to spend the money, spend it.  If you were playing your driver before a new one was announced, it sounds like you like it.

The nature of drivers at that the faces are walls are incredibly thin. Innovation on weight disbursement has made them push the limits on welding, or lack there of. If your driver cracks or delaminated, congrats, you just got a new one courtesy of Taylormade.

If you derive value from an OEM releasing drivers less frequently for some reason, Ping is always a great contender. I'm I'm not sure what value that does or doesn't have, yet, here we are.

Probably a mid-season re-release since they're all breaking.

Are they all breaking?? I have only ever seen one broken stealth. I have hit min plenty of times and plenty hard and have not had any issues.

There have been a few guys post faces that are either cracked through or the face separated from the head. All of those I've seen were stock models.

I haven't seen a custom one break yet. I have a theory that, since the mystealth drivers are hand assembled, they are more thoroughly assembled. At least that's my hope...lol. watch mine break this weekend...

I've played SIM>SIM2>Stealth+, Stealth+ is the best iteration so far.  If it cracks in 6 months, they'll send me a Stealth2 which will likely be better.  I don't understand the issue.

Exactly 😂 my sim2 cracked. Got a stealth + free

Sent back a Stealth+ last week because the carbon face/laminate was cracked and flaking off and definitely noticed a difference in ball flight and accuracy. Got a new one from them yesterday with no problems. Faster than I thought I’d get it too.

When was the last time TaylorMade made any such distance claims in their marketing?  And even when the did in the past, it was never against the previous model - it was always about a 5 year old model, which hits on about the cycle that the average golfer gets a new driver.

Us folks on golf forums aren't the average consumer.  They aren't marketing towards people that go through 4 drivers in 2 years.

And why doe golf companies get s*** but no other industry deals with it nearly as much.

New phones come out every year

new TVs come out every year

New cars come out every year

Etc Etc

Nobody has a gun to your head making you upgrade if you do not see a benefit TO YOU

Actually they did do that with the stealth. They claimed 1.2 more mph ball speed over sim2 if my memory is correct.

my stealth hasnt cracked yet. i cracked the sim 3 months after i first bought it and cracked 2 sim2s soo it seems that the stealth is more durable. btw, cracking a driver doesnt mean its a bad product, lots of guys crack their driver, and frankly, at the speed im swinging i expect to go through at least 2 heads a season

I cracked Cleveland Launcher steel 5wd, a 2016 Taylormade M1 and a 2018 Sim TI 3wd. It happens. Every single one of them was replaced. I'm not worried about it. I don't hit Top Flites in 40 degree weather either.

I would like to see a deeper faced Stealth. I feel like the current one is a little too unforgiving near the heel because of the shape now. I'd like to see a face more like a M1, R510DF, R580XD TP, etc. Not crazy like a SuperDEEP, but something just a bit bigger.

I think if they do anything they go super shallow again like the sim which I hated.   Seems like TM is going away from Deep Faced Drivers.

Wouldn't a deeper face make it even lower launch and spin?  I think the Stealth Plus is already lower launch and spin.  For reference, my launch and spin with the Stealth Plus 9* is the equivalent to the SIM 2 8* I had last year.

Companies need time to transition between one release to the next so it's not surprising for them to be gearing up for 2023.  OEM's are 2-3 years into the future at all times with R&D.  For example being with Edel we are about 3 years out on product dev and we don't even make woods.

In this situation if you bought Stealth and love it then you are good to go.  No one is forcing you to buy the new one coming out.

This. Manufacturer release cycles are as regular as the seasons so there's always something new on the way. When I got my 917 F3 the TS metals were already out so I managed to get fit for both. The 917 was 100 quid cheaper and 20 yards longer, so it was a bit of a no brainer.

It's also coming up for 3 generations old now, yet those new generations haven't made the 3 wood in my bag any shorter or any less effective.

Delamination is a huge issue. I'm on my 4th Stealth and have another one on the way. I cracked the 1st one after 1 or 2 months. Replacement took months so I just got a backup. I've been alternating ever since. I realized that plastic tees are the culprit so I had to change to specialty tees. The rubbery coating starts bubbling, detaching, and peeling off after a couple of weeks.

again, I have had none of these issues with lots of place and practice... I dunno.. I am not trying to discount others experiences but I have not shared it.

I got your point re: your experience the first time around. I'm just relaying mine. Perhaps I've been incredibly unlucky with this release.

I'm guessing a lot of it has to due with different swing speeds between people that are breaking clubs and players that don't have issues

I know you're no slouch off the tee and I'm glad yours has held up so far.  Mine's still g2g except that it has the the tiny bubble spot where the outer layer is starting to come off.  Luckily it's nowhere near the sweet spot.  It does raise some concern as I know it might eventually become bigger at which time I will have to hit up TM for a replacement.
