You nailed it.

No one minds when they come out with an update. What bothers us, is they push a product at top dollar. Only a few months later they are fixing what seemed to be a problem. Titleist new driver every 2 years. You never feel like a jerk because of the way they do business. I got fit for stealth. My first non titleist driver since the 90’s. I bought a $350 upgrade shaft.
I don’t mind them coming out next year with some changes. 6 months later makes me feel like I bought something inferior. Not cool

Speaking of the RBZ (original), the Stealth was finally a good enough club to kick the RBZ out of the bag. The SLDR was horrible and the Sims couldn't do it either and man did I want one. Still not sure the Stealth is longer than the RBZ but it is more forgiving.

The original RBZ really was a cannon. A few years ago mine finally was kicked out of the bag by a G 400 max.

And when was the last time anyone released a new driver 6 months later?

Exactly, it’s like everyone waits until this time of year and starts talking about TM releasing the next driver. It’s nothing new, they release one every year but I’d be more shocked if they didn’t. Just because it’s new doesn’t mean its better for you but people with still complain. I cracked a stealth and got a replacement in less than 2 weeks. I’ll test the new TM offering when it comes out just like I’ll test a TSR and if one is better I may switch but it’s up to me.

Delamination is a huge issue. I'm on my 4th Stealth and have another one on the way. I cracked the 1st one after 1 or 2 months. Replacement took months so I just got a backup. I've been alternating ever since. I realized that plastic tees are the culprit so I had to change to specialty tees. The rubbery coating starts bubbling, detaching, and peeling off after a couple of weeks.

I have never been a big fan of plastic tees for any shot, woods or irons and seeing this just confirms it more for me lol I’ve always stuck to good ole wood pegs.

Hate to break it to you but they design these things in bunches. A source said when they tested the stealth last december they got a peak at the next driver. It has already been made, developed. Another example is when the ltdx came out bryson let the cat out of the bag with “wait til you see next years”. I think you can just rest easy knowing driver technology has basically been maxed out for a while. The “gains” are so small in nature, you wont be missing out from year to year. 5 years… perhaps.

I understand what you’re saying. I’m trying to learn to stop tinkering. So outside of fresh grooves on wedges, I’m keeping what I have.
i played mostly all titleist for years. I never felt like they did me dirty. Their two year cycle gave me confidence. They didn’t drop their pants 6 months later. Their gear held value.
this is my first Taylormade driver. My first non titleist since the 90’s. Taylormade has come a long way since 20 years ago. I just think there are some people who are still jaded by their old practices.

The custom department is down till Monday….hope they don’t go back to a new, latest is greatest 6 month cycle again. If one would learn to hit what we had instead of anxiously awaiting the newer version, would’ve be better off? #askingforafriend

I think everyone appreciates your advice.  And here is some for you, don't take the release cycles for OEM's personally.  They're just trying to sell merchandise.

Glad you think everyone appreciates my advice. I could care less honestly as to a release cycle but on the flip side,I do see that OEMs are trying to sell product, keep the doors open, and keep people on the payroll 100%. Sorry if I came off the wrong way or offended you or anyone else!  Just shared my thoughts like everyone else that posts in the forums.

I have thankfully had no issues with my Stealth.  Face looks brand new.  I don't think I will jump in to the next one blind since I am really getting along with the current.  But, the off season isn't too far around the corner and I have a habit of doing some dumb things when I can't play haha.

I am probably more interested in whatever they do with the fairways tbh.  I had the Stealth Plus and for some reason it was just a hook machine for me.  I couldn't help but shake the fact that it looked closed to my eye.  I know it isn't.  But I just couldn't mentally align it.  Ended up going back into a Mavrik SZ.  I am going to see what the next Stealth 3w looks like because this one was an absolute bomber.  Just bombing it left and in trouble for me lol.  Maybe snag an OG Sim Ti 3w if need be.

If it is, I may be interested  as long as it proves it's durability.  I still game my Sim2 about half the time.  It has been great and the Stealth just barely, by a few yards, edged it out. I held off of the Stealth because I despise red. And having a big ol red face was a no go for me. In the end, I am glad I did. The failure rate seems fairly high even among guys at my club. I will patiently wait for a more reliable "carbonwood" driver.

Are the stealth drivers really failing that much? I guess I don’t know anyone with it in play that has had an issue.

A couple local fitters have mentioned the Stealth has had more warranty issues than the previous clubs. One fitter said the Sim was a close second, guess parts were popping off (never owned a sim). I know Taylormade will stand behind them heads 100%. I will just stick with my Sim 2 for now.

I see no real indication they are, because otherwise you bet we'd see massive traction on any threads related to said failures, both because its Taylormade so more of them will be out there, and because there is a microscope on the new tech that would magnify even the slightest uptick in failure rate percentage. The Ventus TR breakage thread is a good example as it feels like there was maybe a bad batch that experienced a higher failure rate and that thread is twice the size of any similar Taylormade thread while being a far more niche product. I'd bet their data shows a similar failure rate to previous models with a likely footnote on the types of failures that are being experienced (primarily delaminations of some sort) with plans to address that in future releases.

Bought two stealths

night and day and the difference

both 9*

First one was closed at setup had to put on upright position

second one was more neutral maybe 1* at most totally difference

I am a Taylormade loyalist but when the hype of the carbon face starting to settle I found myself not seeing noticeable gains from my Sim2. I’m interested to see if other manufacturers jump on the carbon face technology or not.

On the same token; we actually do have several Stealth failure threads and some with multiple pages and no notable failure threads for any other OEM. So If we're talking about small sample sizes of this forum and etc...but I guess you can argue it either way.

From a materials science standpoint I never saw this being a good move, but marketing it as the next big thing and getting those sales - in numbers - probably trumped the defective rate they're seeing. TM had to do something to tear the SIM line out of their users hands and this was it.

It will be interesting to see how they walk this back when they go back to a metal face.

I think the new face construction lends the failures to be put front and center since it's a new type of failure that hasn't been seen before.  I have had a few drivers in the past where the carbon seam cracks or the face dents.  I haven't started a thread on them.  But, if the face just fell off, that would definitely be a little more motivated to share some pics of that.  That would be pretty wild.

I think the carbon face feels phenomenal.  I don't spend much time on LM's but from what I have seen when I have, the driver has been extremely impressive.  I can't speak to what the future of TM drivers looks like.  But, I hope the carbon face continues to be tweaked and improved.  If failures are up compared to what they have seen in the past, I have no doubt they'll be working on a way to lower that number.

Agreed.  Also, there was one poster who mentioned a lot of Callaway failures this year, though we have not seen evidence in numbers like the Stealth line.
