Cobra is in a situation w/ Bryson.  I'm sure they aren't getting along w/ him much these days now that he's on the LIV tour but he's the only person that can push the one length clubs.  I wonder if they are going to drop him at some point and/or the one length irons?

I thought they would move more into the Youtube/influencer world, since they can't truly hang with the bigger OEMs.

 

I love my LTDx LS and the Aerojet has a ton of hype.

 

Could be a "ball speed" thing coinciding with the article they just put out where he's saying the equipment can't handle 200+ mph ball speed.

This doesn't surprise me. The aerojet release was a very odd one. Good clubs, but we saw a pic of the new driver in August or so here. There was zero fanfare. Zero marketing. Zero anything. Demos showed up at retailers and that was it. Combine that with dechambeau going to liv and no one watching him play now and their biggest capable player is basically MIA. 

 

Tea leaves say cobra is in trouble...or reorganizing their marketing model.

The juice (how much product he helps sell) has never been worth the squeeze (the literally impossible demands he has) for Cobra, LA Golf, and Bridgestone. LA Golf designed the Trono shaft specifically for him with his input and he hardly, if at all, put in play in anger. This is just the latest example of him throwing his toys out of the pram when his outlandish demands aren't met somehow.

Guy's a nutter, and a giant headache for the companies that mistakenly signed him up.

Yeah one of the many marketing miscues the guy doesn't understand. Trying to hype up the current line but overhyping "next years" lineup and then not even playing it

And from everything I've heard that new Aerojet line is really good not like the LTD line wasn't just Cobra is hot now in the woods but as seen can't please Bryson with anything.

I don't think one length clubs sell all that well.  Very few local golf shops carry them.

For what it’s worth here’s my take on Cobra… and this is coming from someone who played their clubs religiously years ago…. Back in the day with the black and gold colors and the snake logo, their woods and irons had a cool vibe about them.

Then they went down the rabbit hole of different color options on their woods, culminating with that speckled head cover. They went away from the “cobra” logo and went to emphasizing “King” on their clubs… yuck, and the Rad Speed line looked like a poor man’s version of the Callaway Epic line that was released the same year with their green and white color ways.

Their players irons look okay, but very few “players” play them, and their GI irons are ugly as sin. The wedges?  LOL and I’ve never actually seen one of their putters in anyone’s bag. Ever.

Yeah, there were a few signings that I’m sure the companies regret now. Srixon giving all that money to Koepka seems like a waste right now. Then Cobra with Bryson. The thing about Bryson is he continues to make just really dumb and degrading comments about equipment to the press. I’m not sure any company would want to put up with that.

Yeah, Bryson wants the distance of a cannon with the forgiveness of a Ping. I’m sure Cobra is counting the days until his contract is up.

Yeah I can't see any of the big OEMs giving a ton of money to the LIV guys going forward pending what happens with all the lawsuits and if they can play things other than the majors and LIV events.  I mean LIV is what it is, but I have almost 0 desire to ever watch it.

 

But like what if Bryson or someone wins a major, so they get the exposure of the major champ, BUT then you'll basically get 0 exposure with them through the normal season.

 

I used to enjoy watching Bryson because he did his own thing and wasn't afraid to try different things, but now he just seems like a pain and I'd bet that Cobra is starting to feel the same way.

Said this in the LA Golf thread, Bryson wants to use all these equipment companies as his own personal test kitchen when he’s asking for specs that 0.000001% of the golfing population uses. The R&D approach might work for one-off prototypes, but it’s not a good business model. 

 

The fact that he’s now using stuff we can all buy today might prove he’s been yelling at windmills the past few years.

Rad Speed was as good or better than anything on the market.  And their players irons are great.  If they try to directly compete with Taylormade or Callaway or Titleist they lose.  So it makes sense for Cobra to try and do different stuff.  If they made a driver or irons identical to Titleist - people will play the Titleist.  So Cobra has to try and be outside the box unless they just undercut the bigger OEMs prices.  Which I think they should try and do more than they do.

Bryson also has a YouTube channel and some of his vids have 500k views (that's probably more than a weaker PGA event, I'm assuming).

 

He's more the exception and not the rule compared to other LIV guys. Callaway and TM catering to the younger crowd when they signed GOOD GOOD and Micah/Grant respectively.
