Bought a ZX5 3iron for a 105 X Axiom test. With respect to the irons, do I go straight in to be soft stepped? Any views on feel or stiffness vs MMTs? 4i carries around 210yds.

 

Next step probably reshafting my 4iron as it’s too close to my 5iron.. MMT or Axiom, it will be.

I ended up putting Axiom 125X in 4i-50* and so far so good. I have another 50* with an S400 installed and 55* and 60* with S400s in them and no issues going from graphite to steel in wedges. I tend to hit more full shots with my 50* so I've been using the Axiom more. Did see this the other day though..maybe an Axiom wedge shaft at some point 🤞:

what shaft did you use before? Can you compare the feel?

Nippon 1150gh tour stiff shafts were pulled from my i230's to install the Axiom 125X. As far as feel..slightly different but both good in their own way:

1. Nippon shafts are generally pretty smooth so maybe a bigger jump if going from something a little more harsh. When pured they both feel/felt great
2. On mishits the Axioms are less harsh (Assuming that's the graphite doing it's job/vibration dampening). I can still tell when I've mishit the ball with the Axiom, but with a few rounds in them I feel like the result has been been better (tracking on Arccos to see what this looks like over the next year)
3. I would say overall with the Axioms my i230's feel slightly softer, easier to control distance (My 6i club head speed is 97mph so maybe I had grown out of the 1150 stiffs, but noticing that I am hitting my distances more consistently with a the heavier/stiffer shaft), launch might be a tad higher (Just what I'm seeing on the course the last couple weeks..Need to confirm on Trackman), and am really liking them so far. During the fitting I tried a bunch of graphite options and came down to LA Golf L-Series 4 (Stiff) and the Axiom 125X. To me the 125X is maybe more of a S+ than an X but w/ Velocore super stable. The LA Golf L-Series 5 (X) didn't work for me at all.

What swing speed are you at? I've been thinking about the 125's but i found the LAGP L-Series 4 almost too stiff for my liking

Can anyone compare the 125x to mmt 125x?  I played mmt for a season and liked them but they felt too soft at times when I really stepped on one.  Went to project X 6.5 and I absolutely love them as i feel like the left miss has been tightened.  But now elbows are starting to ache and think I need to go back to graphite 

 

1) since it’s likely either mmt or axiom 125x, how do those compare? 
 

2) which would be closer to performance/stability of px6.5?

Based on youtube fitter reviews, TXG and EP studios, there is very little difference performance wise between the axiom 125x, mmt125tx, and px 6.5.

Feel will vary off course, but that's up to the individiual.

You should ideally try them out yourself to see if there's any difference for you, otherwise just assume they're basically the same.

Yeah did a YouTube search but was left still wondering.  Had not seen EP so thanks for that recco.  Also considering LA golf shaft but the fitter results are all over the place for those too

Have been playing the KBS $-taper 120s. And have felt they might be a bit to heavy for me. So just went in blind and bought the Axiom 105 s shafts. Can't wait to get them in, and hopefully they live up to the hype!

Don't forget that you can fine tune further with additional tipping too, if needed.

Playing the 105X and happy with stiffness/flex profile. Possibly thinking of switching to the 125X from 7-P (have them in G to L and love them). Should these feel about the same in the mid irons just with added static weight? I am not overly fast (86 with 7) but have loved the X.

Axiom 125x is an absolute hook machine for me. So much left side spin. For context my 6 iron swing speed is 91 mph so not nothing special . These are very easy to turn over. Wasn’t expecting that at all. Prob time to give these away and try some other more stable options

Soft step them... I haven't heard of any s flex coming yet.

So I have my full set now in some pxg 0211st blades... they feel unreal. 

 

The best way I can describe the 125x is that it's X100 but feels... better?? No real kick per se, but it doesn't feel like I need to do anything to make the shaft work the right way. I take dislike kbs shafts which usually for me feel lifeless (and are usually way too counter balanced) and this is total opposite.

 

If my  testing and golf course play goes well, I'm going to probably get another set and put them in my T150s.

I played an Axiom 105 in a Srixon ZX MKII Utility Iron for several months are really liked it.  As a user of the Ventus Black in my 3 wood and Driver I got the same stable feeling with the Axiom.  Never played graphite shafts in my irons before so nothing to compare to but I have nothing negative to say about the experience.

I don't think the comparison is apples to apples.  I was fit into a 23' T200 2 iron with a Ventus HB Black 9TX and it has a different feel than the ZX Utility with the Axiom 105 X all together.  The Axiom had a softer feel and higher launch with more spin in comparison to the Ventus HB but then again the different iron heads could also play a factor in the feel.  The difference in feel could also be contributed to the way Fujikura built specific tips for long irons, mid irons and short irons with the Axiom shaft line.  

In regards to the DI, I hit a DI 95X during my Titieist fitting and it was one or two swings max before the fitter took it from me.  The DI didn't get along with my timing at all.  

 

I have hit the Ventus Blue HB before and I'd say the Axiom 105X long iron shaft felt more like the Blue than the Black.

Where did you see that?

 

That would mean the "3 club parallel" design would NOT apply. 

 

Instead you'd have 2 Iron through P Wedge each with a dedicated shaft.
