OK, here goes....big inhale:

In third grade, I cheated on my history exam. In fourth grade, I stole my uncle Max’s toupee and I glued it on my face when I was Moses in my Hebrew School play. In fifth grade, I knocked my sister Edie down the stairs and I blamed it on the dog…When my mom sent me to the summer camp for fat kids and then they served lunch I went nuts and I pigged out and they kicked me out…But the worst thing I ever done — I mixed a pot of fake puke at home and then I went to this movie theater, hid the puke in my jacket, climbed up to the balcony and then, then, I made a noise like this: hua-hua-hua-huaaaaaaa — and then I dumped it over the side, all over the people in the audience. And then, this was horrible, all the people started getting sick and throwing up all over each other. I never felt so bad in my entire life.

This made my day!

I bought a PXG driver during their closeout deals. Sweet price, right? Definitely. Then I tried three more shafts in it, bringing my investment above the cost of a new fitted driver, but no big deal right? This is WRX, I know how to fit myself.

Anyways, I settled on an XX-flex, 85g shaft and turned the head down to 6*. This is the obvious recipe for success, as it is written in the WRX Bible.

Not to piggy back on @PARETO's legend too much, but since I'm also in Alberta I have no clue how it flies, just that it hits the net pretty hard.

I started this thread so just assumed it was, just being defensive....i just didn't see the harm in trying to have a fun thread here and there as long as the forum isn't just being inundated with them

Complain to the mods and get it moved to General golf talk or somewhere else, and then sit back in your chair and feel very happy with yourself.

Congratulations Jeff. The whole thread is peak Wrx.    All you need now is the spelling police and one of the rules guys to drop in and tell you to “ play better “ and or “ grow up “ and you’ll have a hit on your hands !

Not completely related, but my favorite story has to be when I used to work at the PGASS in Myrtle beach.. slightly bigger dude came in and was trying drivers and couldn’t get them over 200.. his swing was bad, contact bad, all the tell tale signs of what was coming next… one of the other guys I worked with heard him complaining (this LM is sh&$, I hit my driver 300+, etc etc) so he grabbed a ladies 7 iron and roped it 215 carry (past his driver) and looked at the guy and said, might be a bit juiced actually I normally only hit my 7 about 205.

The look on the guys face was priceless. We all been there as club fitters but to find a way to “nicely” put them in their place… He is my legend to this day 😂

Similar story but happened well over a decade ago: A friend and a couple of acquaintances and I were playing at familiar course (to them but not to me.)  One of the acquaintances had been complaining all day about his driver (FT-3) which he was hitting like sh*t on practically every hole.  The FT-3 was a favorite of mine for a long time and I'd moved on from it, but the head shape and feel was familiar and I couldn't help but want to show him it was truly a quality stick.  We reach 18 and he's flubbed another drive (short, right, and in trouble).  He exclaims what a bad driver it is and that he just wants rid of it.  I ask him if I could take a swing with it and he obliges.  I tee up and stripe it well down the fairway about 150+ yards past his drive.  I hand it back and tell him it's a nice club and not to give up on it.  The other two guys are laughing their *sses off at his expense.  At the end of the round, he hands it to me and asks if I could sell it for him on eBay.  I'm not sure if he even plays golf anymore.

WRX Legend you say? I’ll attempt to steal your crown. I live in Alberta. I haven’t played golf on real grass since last October. Despite this lack of natural grass, I have gone through 3 iron sets, 2 drivers, 2 wedge sets and 3 putters. My WITB is a pitiful and painful experience. I blame all of you.

Have you looked into the 2024 Bag is Set Challenge?  Might be just the ticket you need...........

As for this thread, the best I've got is that I've never made it past March in almost 10 years of my own BISC.  I also had a calendar year, 2015 IIRC, where I played over 20 rounds and never once played with the same bag setup as any other round that year.  22 rounds, 22 unique bag setups.

This is a true story.....

Today, i went to the trackman bay i normally go to about 15 mins from my house....I was feeling good, it was 3PM in the afternoon and i had already worked out and was feeling spry. Normally when i go to the trackman it's 9Am or 10AM in the morning and it's my first exercise of the day, so this may have been a factor

Nevertheless....I start with 8 irons , and immediately as you might expect, start striping them with near perfect purity. My first 15 swings, 11 of them are over 160 which is too long for me. I normally average about 154-156 with 8 iron in my usual sessions.

I demanded to speak to the manager, and told them their trackman needed to be calibrated, because i was hitting the ball too far.

Someone beat this story. I will wait.

You are totally the man MtlJeff. Only story I can come up with that is even close is this:

Met a girl online a decade ago. Started talking, dating (pre-covid). In Aruba. Wicked wind. We finally met. She said if I could beat her on her home course (Tierra Del Sol) she'd go to dinner with me. I beat her - and we were together for three or four years.

Does that count as beating your story?

I started my round +3 through 3 holes and just couldn't get along with my new clubs. I was experimenting with new shaft combos and it wasn't my usual gamer, so no wonder I wasn't playing well... So I posted them to WRX on hole 4, had them sold by hole 5, bought new clubs from a local member that brought them to the course and swapped into the new set for the back 9, set of 3-PW MB's with X7 hard-stepped twice. Ahh, right at home again! Started hitting it a little better for a few holes but found that off-speed swings were a real struggle, and in the short irons I just couldn't hit my usual knock down, flighted, three quarter, punchy one-hop stop, fizzer, zip back, wizz[-bang, pro pitch. This is my go-to and it just wasn't in my toolkit anymore and caused me to miss too many shots as a result. I was also hitting my long irons super low which is unusual because, if I had to eyeball it, I'm right around 130ft peak apex in my 3-iron on the range... So, finally I was fed up halfway through the back 9 and decided to just use my buddy's clubs to close out the round. I couldn't be bothered to touch my clubs anymore. He's got these beat up old AP2's with like R300 in them, lol. Felt like a noodle. Knowing I was just goofing around, I really freed up my swing and played well the rest of the 9. Went -4 under through the last 5 holes and hit every green. I think the furthest I hit it was like 15ft from the pin? My swing was really starting to get dialed (where was this earlier?!). Really had a great last 5 holes and felt like I was enjoying golf again, you know? It was a great way to close out the round, but I just could never in my life play those clubs, those shafts are way too weak for me and my speed. I don't know how my buddy does it. Anyway, current set is back up on WRX and the search continues!

(none of this happened but this is how I imagine most WRX-bros)

You had me going for a minute.  This reminds me of the BSG days where everyone and I mean EVERYONE had the stiffest piece of rebar you could imagine for shafts.  I work in a high end fitting studio now and I have yet to come across anyone with remotely enough speed to load some of those things.  One of the local long drive teams used to practice out of bays too and they can seriously move it but even a lot of them only play standard X.  But every third guy on BSG had a double X something or an X tipped 1.5+ inches "to knock the spin down".  I know a lot of those people definitely flocked over here once BSG died, but I bet many of them are too ashamed to admit they were part of that cult.  One distinct story that always summed up to me what BSG was made me howl.  A local "hero" hotshot of the forum tried out for the US Open.  Was bragging about how they were on a hot streak and this local qualifier was going to be a piece of cake.  The qualifier comes and goes, nobody knows their real name and ask.  Radio silence.  About 5 days later the OP comes on saying they missed the cut by a million because they had something like 46 putts, blaming the ridiculous pin placements and how he putted it off the green at least 3 or 4X.  I immediately knew from that moment on that 99% of the people on that site were vanity cap carriers and I am sure he got a sternly worded letter from the USGA to say thanks but not thanks for any future qualifiers.

Here's a true story where I once risked my death-I was hitting balls at the range one day when I noticed a large crowd of people forming around a gorilla hitting drivers. Except it wasn't a gorilla, but rather an even more muscular animal called Jason Zuback. This was at the peak of his powers in long drive.

After hitting only drivers for that hour or so (his bag contained pretty much only drivers, probably like 8-10 of them), the crowd had dissipated and Jason started walking around the range and collecting range buckets. Nice guy apparently. However, because I'm an idiot, he came to my bucket and I said to him dripping with sarcasm "long drive not working out?". Well, Jason Zuback doesn't detect sarcasm. He looked me straight in the eye, veins in his neck at a point where they should have burst, and just said "I'm just helping these guys out" and walked away.

It was at that point my male parts disintegrated and flew away to the stars. If you look up at the sky on a really dark night, occassionaly you can see them twinkle faintly.

That's pretty funny.  If I were him, I'd laugh.
