2024 mizuno MP iron range

Also, this might just be my eye playing tricks but that seems like a quite long hosel length compared to the head size. Seems like an interesting departure from the S23 philosophy, where they deliberately shortened the hosel to shift the CG more toe-side.

When you get into irons of this caliber, cleaner is better. Just put Mizuno run bird on the back of the iron and call it a day. Take away the "Mizuno pro" script. Take away that tacky engraving of the model number or make it minimalistic on the hosel.

Agreed the MP5 was the best iron that they released in terms of total performance and looks.

Super bummed to hear the 243 is significantly smaller than 223. I loved the size of the 223. Not sure why they went smaller and weaker. Makes it sound too much like the jpx tour

have you seen the soles on the new 243 from pics, it's giant compared to jpx tour. If anything they are probably trying to differentiate it more from the jpx forged which it basically is but shorter heel to toe.

I would have bought 223, but when I tried them on the course. I got stuck in the ground. So I was hoping the 243 was going to be exactly what I needed. I think I’ll just end up with t150

The new design is based on what is needed in each respective irons with the microslots, hence the design could be shrunk down with the improved tech.

Literally, the way I interpret the translated website is that the 243 is a combo set that actually is built like a combo set from 4-PW.

Is there one of three models that has the most “updates” done to it? In the market for new irons and have the 223 or blended set of 225/223 in mind but not opposed to waiting for the price drops of the older model.

sorry if this has already been discussed. Missed it on my cursory review of the previous pages.

The 243 is larger than the 923T by a couple millimeters in blade length at most. The soles in the 4-7 wider than 923T but are slimmer than 223 and have more bounce than 223. The 8-GW are compact but still a bit bigger than 923T heel to toe while being very close in sole width. The stronger lofts and 4° gaps of 243 create more consistent gapping. I’m only carrying 5-PW. The only 3° gap in my set is 6 (28°) to 5 (25°).

IMHO, the bottom line is this; if you were able to play 223, you can game 243.

Smaller and...weaker?

223 PW is 46 degrees

243 PW is 44 degrees

I like golf. A lot.

Interesting the loft progressions in PW-8 for 243 if the Japanese specs are the same as US release. Def make sense if you are blending 243 into 245, but not a mixed bag of 241 into 243.

I like the idea of having a tiny bit more tech and forgiveness in the the PW(46°) - 7 iron and then even more help in 6-4.  Love a Vokey 50/54/60.  With Mizuno going even smaller in each model it would be intimidating to jump in to 241 as a blade like iron in a PW-8.

Currently play OG ZX7s. I like a 46° PW.

The specs are the same for North America as they are in Japan. The 243 long irons when bent weak to go with 241 short irons will have similar offset values as the 241 long irons. The 243 short irons were lofted with 4° gaps to help gapping. The 243 7i has been detuned a hair so it gaps better with the 8i and 6i.

Hit the demo 7 iron of the 243 today. Feel indoors was extremely solid. I was getting 165 meters (180 yds) of distance whereas a normal 7 for me goes 170yds. It looked fantastic at address. The sole is a bit wide, and beveled at the back. I compared to t150 and t100. To my eye  the 243 sits right between the t150 and t100 at address size-wise. Maybe a little closer to t150. The 241 blade and the t100 looked pretty close at address. Here are a few pics of the t150 and 243 swapping sides. The mizuno is the less rounded top line. I like it a lot…first impression, wish the lofts weren’t so strong stock.

topline looks way better on the t150. Mizuno can't really complete with the looks of a titleist iron from address.

I just don’t know if I can’t get over how horrendous this backside looks on the 243. Spent time with it over the weekend, and was wowed by performance and feel, but the bag appeal to me is super lacking on it.

They are quite disappointing comparatively to how nice the 241 and 245's look. Definitely a strange choice. Friend of mine plays the 223's and loves them, but he also wishes they looked like the others.
