2024 mizuno MP iron range

I actually love the look of the 243. I think of it as a slimmed down forged alternative to a ping I series. The feel was great, really enjoyed hitting it.

yes - agreed, but this rounded shape looks shite compared to the 223. But the feel as I stated was awesome.

 

I am going to give the 245 it’s run here in the next few days.

Yeah that is definitely a different look than my 223’s.  Is it that way through the entire set?

Bend the 48 a degree weak?  Puts you at 49.  Should be within 3-5 yards of a 51?

I agree 243's are the ugly duckling of the group but I'll be getting a set anyways.   Already own MP5 and 221 blades, along with 225 hollow bodies.  I need to round the iron sets out with the cavity back option.  Besides...after a few drinks the 243's might look sexy!!

I currently carry 48, 54, 58. So it is a great fit for me. I used to play 50 instead. I learned it was easier for me to take some off of the 48 versus try to step on a 50. It also offers me bounce options in a 48 that vokeys 50 doesn’t offer

Curious to hear how launch was for you.  If it hits a good window with stronger lofts, these might be an interesting option next year.

hard to tell how an iron feels indoors because of the acoustics. I can’t tell much difference between iron feel indoors. Outdoors it’s a little more noticeable when different metals are used.

Fitting heads should be in stores mid-December 2023. This iron is from a set most likely sourced from overseas since it has a standard ferrule not a metal tip like Mizuno fitting carts have.

I'm waiting for the demo heads to be out to fitters so I can test the 243 and 245 vs titleist T150.  Its tempting to just go with the T150 but I think I will have more confidence in the fit if i get to try the mizunos.  Been playing Mizuno for the past 5 years or so.

Since these irons are under embargo until mid-December the store is playing with fire if the club head was provided by Mizuno.

The 243 reminds me of the R9 TP irons I had way back when.

I went on and ordered the 245’s in 5-PW from Japan and got them last Friday since I’m impatient. Threw in some steelfiber i110’s thanks to getting older and some nagging injuries. No real range time with them so far but have played three rounds. I’m a +1 handicap and those three rounds have been 70-69-70 and I really haven’t made anything with the putter. Ultra forgiving, feel and look great, and this setup just kinda wants to go straight and long. These are probably 8-10 yards longer than my old TM p760’s and the srixon zx7’s I’ve been messing with. I will probably bend them a degree or two weak so the gapping is more with what I’m looking for but golf is fun again.

 

I will say that I’ve been playing the left dash and could see where I might want to play something that spins a little more come summer/firmer conditions with these mizuno’s.

You know I’m going to be sucked in to buying these lol.  I’m thinking 1 degree in the PW and GW.  I like the 5 degree increments in the 223 right now at the lower end.
