This is encouraging to hear. I am leaning towards the 245's so I'm looking for any reasons I shouldn't but them. How high do your 225/s fly compared to your MP-5's?

Keep in mind lofts aren't the same between 225 and MP5, but I do have my MP5s 1 degree strong.  Shafts aren't the same either but on my SkyTrak club for club the MP5s are only 1-2 yards lower apex.  For reference my apex is usually 90ft (30 yards) starting with 8 iron thru 4 iron.

Smileys in Winston Salem, NC. The best guy to work with! I’ve been working with him for years.

We are looking at the same things.  I’m still playing MP-64s, but I have the itch for something new.  The T-100s have been a front runner, and the Blueprint S is intriguing based upon everything I’m reading, and the adoption they are getting in tour bags.  Just gotta wait till the MP line comes out to see how they perform.

The 241s definitely have the cosmetic appeal to me.

JPX 923 Tour is similar to the MP 64.

I get that, the lofts are pretty much 1 club stronger, but that's good info on apex. I'd imagine spin is lower, so that'll work.

Fwiw I've gotten some jumpers with the 4-7 of my 223s, so the fact that it happens with the 225s is not surprising to me.   I've flown a fair number of greens with these.  Just grabbed a set of 221s to see if they are a bit more consistent in distance.

For curiosity sake, what's your carry number with a 7 iron? I'm wondering if the jumper problem correlates to speed.

About 175 with the 223 7.

Example jumper - 186 to pin on par 3, slightly uphill, no wind, not using a tee, 6 iron carries bunker behind green, maybe 205 carry.   That is definitely beyond my normal distance.  It felt great-makes me think it comes from hitting the dead middle of the sweetspot.

Thats super far, even for a flyiest of flyers

I've played the 225's since they came out and now the 245's. I've never had a flyer with them. The 245's are new, but lots of experience with the 225's. They are some of the most consistent irons I've ever played.

Jumpers can be tough to ascertain the cause and lots of folks say it was the club or even blame a relatively decent lie. I've seen folks get a little nervous or think too much over a shot and they come thru the ball completely dead handed and hit a knuckleball that goes 15 yards deep and they'll say they had a flier and I'm like dude, we're on a par 3.

Possibly, but I've played dozens of different irons, and these and a set of P790s I borrowed are the only irons that I've noticed this issue with, and coincidentally they are the only two hollow/slotted irons I've tried.

“Jumpers”  are likely strikes that are actually hit on the sweet spot and fly the proper distance for the club, but stand out against the other 98% of swings that miss the sweet spot but are considered “normal”. 🤣

I will say I tend to hit a few mm towards the heel, so there might be something to that, but I don't have the the swing speed to hit a 28 degree 6 iron 205.

I am, by all accounts, a baby ogre with plenty of speed and I've always played blades and never worried about this issue. I don't know if I'm overthinking this whole jumper thing or not. I think I'm just going to order the 245's and see how it goes.

@PowerCobra98 Yeah, I am with @Brooks_Cupcake here. 225's DEFINITELY jump. They are essentially designed to. Lower spin, high launch monsters.

@ABOsborn20 has a set of 225s and hes found more jumpers the last 2 years than he cares to admit...

@PowerCobra98 @TomBomb51 No jumpers might be the funniest thing I've ever heard in golf.  These clubs hit jumpers just like all clubs hit jumpers.  Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love them and believe they are the best irons I've ever purchased, but they 100% without a doubt in my mind, hit jumpers.

I tend to agree with this. I'll flush one and know it's going to be too long cause I didn't plan on absolutely flushing it and my buddy will be confused. I try and tell him that even tour pro's don't play to the yardage of flushing a shot. They play to a yardage of what I call a "solid" shot but you hear them all the time say "oh no, I flushed it, sit down, sit down!"

I agree with this 100%….i consider myself a solid ball striker and even when I’m grooving it I still miss the center of the club face. All my yardages are to my normal swing/contact/exertion.

Not to long ago I went and hit some new clubs in a bay and was hitting a 923 HMP and was hitting the 7 about 165-170 over and over again (my normal yardage), then I flushed 3 straight shots that were all 190 on the fly…the difference was I absolutely flushed them and swung about 95% vs my normal 85-90% swing.

I have to disagree with the "a well struck one is what a jumper is" crowd.

I took my GC3 to the range, after hitting it on a mat for 4 months, and the range at my course is a bit scruffy. I never once hit my 223 7 iron over 175 in my garage, on the range, I can catch a flier and easily hit it 190 with 3000-4000 rpm of spin. That is NOT just a well struck shot, no way. It was because the lie was in the "rough", probably a little wetness to knock the spin off etc. Fliers definitely happen. They happen with all clubs, but they happen MUCH more often on a club with the design like the 225, 245, P790 etc.

I like golf. A lot.

I suspect it’s because the hollow head iron still gives you some pop when you hit the ball high on the face ( likely the location when the ball is in the rough).

Clubs like the T100 have all their mass shoved low in the club and won’t give you a flyer if you hit it high in the the face, but the ball does come off slow and dead.   Trade offs in club design

Funniest post in a while. I getcha. I hate it when I flush an iron perfectly center club. Totally messes up my distances. 😂

How has your experience been with forgiveness? I am a 6, but irons are my weakness.

I have the 225s and these are the best irons I have played, I am a 4, and after a couple of months of using these my game is very consistent. Happy customer here.

I think the 225s are a perfect fit for the 4-8 handicap who could use a little more pop and forgiveness while still looking AMAZING over the ball. That's exactly why @ABOsborn20 plays them and that's exactly where he falls for his handicap.

I play the 223 in 4 thru PW and have always wanted to try the 225 in the 4 and 5 iron. They are so versatile and fit a wide range of golfers. To my previous comment about flyers, getting flyers in 4 iron isn't as big of a problem as getting one from 145 yards with a 9 iron and airmailing the green. Flyers also happen with all clubs, just more with the hollow body type irons.

I like golf. A lot.
