2024 mizuno MP iron range

Looking forward to seeing next iteration of the 225’s.  They have been the best set of irons I’ve ever had.  I’m not sure they can really improve on them as looks and performance are really just perfect for me.  Hopefully Mizuno brings the heat once again with the new line!

The Modus 120s are a great shaft, but I've picked up a lot of speed in the past year and the stiff flex is hard for me to time properly now. When I tried the PX 6.5 the timing felt effortless, and I was flushing every single shot. And let me tell you, flushing the 221s feel like absolute magic.

Honestly if I was asking this same question last year I wouldn't even think about it, I would just pull the trigger. I'm only hesitating now because the new release is probably right around the corner, and it's not like my current irons are unplayable. And I'd have to wait at least until the new models are announced anyway until I actually receive the clubs.

Regarding the blend, I'm wavering between blending the 223, blending the 225, or just keeping the 221 long irons. In the bay I could hit the 221 5 iron pretty consistently, and the 4 iron reasonably well, but I'm a little worried about how that will translate to the course. Probably more intelligent to just blend the set. I'm just not sure which other set to blend it with. I love love love the feel of the 221s, and I want to preserve that as much as possible. I've heard that the 223s feel almost as good, although I'm a bit leery about the wider sole. And of course I currently play the MP20 HMBs, so I'm reasonably familiar with how the 225's would feel. It's just so hard to swap out any of the 221s, even though I know that it's the smart move.

I have the 120x’s and a quick transition and these hold up to my swing.

I thought the new range would be released in spring 2024 anyways. There was mention of that awhile ago on one of these forums.

Good evening fellow GolfWrx patrons!  Was wondering if anyone had any news on the 2024 mizuno iron lineup.  With a current 10 week lead time for a set of the current 223’s I’m wondering if the new stuff leak is not far off.  (Sorry if there is another forum on this topic)

Please put a question mark in your subject line so we don't think you are showing us new info about the MP product line for 2024.

Regarding Mizuno MP's, there isn't anything they could release that would bump my 221's out of the bag.  These are the best irons I've owned in my life.  Soft, long, and easier to hit than my buddies i230 by a mile.  Even he stated "It's not good when I hit your blades better than my own irons."

Im not sure if my HMP's are going anywhere but if they do I will take a long hard look at the next release from Mizuno's as they knocked it out of the park with their MP and JPX line, something there for every golfer out there. I will be honest I'm also going to take a hard look at the new Titleist T350 when they get released.

Mizuno shifting their iron release schedule is quite interesting. Maybe this means the entire line will get released at the same time unlike the JPX 923 line where the Forged and Tour were held back.

I hope Mizuno takes a page from how srixon has been doing it cause it would be nice to see a touch more forgiving mb or have their cavity back/mmc model have a players loft and not ultra strong lofts. Mizuno's killed it on their game improvement line tho, the 225s are the best iron they've released in awhile. Hitting the 225 3 iron as a driving iron has been pretty fun.

They have a more forgiving MB, it’s the JPX Tour, that’s literally what the JPX line is, slightly longer blade length and a hair more Offset and bounce.

and the 221 mb have 34 degree 7 iron loft and the 223 (the cb) have 32, that’s not super strong and you can order them 2 degree strong or weak 🤷🏼‍♂️

and the 225 is a players distance iron, not game improvement 🤷🏼‍♂️

don’t really understand your point

Have you hit the new jpx tour? Maybe that use to be the case on forgiveness but they've completely blurred the lines on the mp mb's and the jpx tour. You will see zero forgiveness differences when hitting the 221 and 923 tour. Go hit them. Yes you can bend clubs weaker but you're adding more bounce and changing offset. why can't they just make them with a players loft to start with?  I wish they would've kept the jpx tour like the 919 tour, more forgiving and quit trying to turn it into the mp/mb line. That was my point.

he makes a good point. The 223 should be something like the jpx tour and the jpx tour should be what the 223 is.

The JPX line stands for "Japan Extreme Performance". It's the line where they add different materials and the high tech stuff for more ballspeed, forgiveness etc.

The MP line is for their forged players irons. The current jpx tour is essentially that, a straight forged no nonsense cavity with a bit bigger footprint heel to toe than the MP line and there isn't anything in the mp line that is straight forged no nonsense besides the blade.

They should move the jpx tour to the mp line as 223 with slightly shorter heel to toe to match up with MP line. Move the current 223 to JPX tour line with slightly bigger heel to toe to match jpx line.

I own the MP223 and I have hit the full line, I am fully aware of what I am saying 😂do you consider a 32 degree 7 iron ultra strong loft?

I agree with you that the JPX Tour is getting a bit to close to the MP line now, but the slightly longer blade length, little more Offset and bounce makes it slightly more forgiving than the 221. Regardless of that fact, they are both MBs and no one buys them for forgiveness.

have you hit the 223? If not I would highly recommend you try it because I’m having no trouble launching them and I am certainly not hitting them dramatically further, maybe 3-4 yards if at all.

i still don’t understand the Srixon comparison either because the Z forged is not more forgiving than the JPX tour and has 33 degrees of loft on the 7 iron (1 less than the JPX Tour) and the ZX7s have 32 degrees 🤷🏼‍♂️

I don’t agree with what you all are saying of JPX tours being part of the MP line. I have em, played the 223s before them, and I find them easier to play, which I think is the point.

And… JPX does not mean “Japanese Extreme Performance.” Go to the 3 min mark below:

Total Mizzy fanboy here. Well, their irons anyway, never cared much for their drivers or wedges (or putters), but have been playing their irons for close to a couple decades. First time I hit an MP-32 I fell in love. Not just how they performed, but how it felt to hit them.

Currently have MP-20 MMCs. Not sure if I've ever felt this much in sync with an iron. The look, the feel, the performance. They give subtle, but clear feedback, and are quite responsive - feel like any shot I can visualize, I can execute.

I did try the 221/223/225 line (I'll try any Mizzy iron release). 223 was probably the closest to what I currently have, but I didn't find any appreciable difference or improvement in performance or feel. And in fact didn't like the look quite as much (a minor variable to be sure, a very small part of the larger picture, but still a part - I know there's been threads about this, but I'm definitely not a fan of the font).

Bottom line though, I passed on the 221/223/225 release. Still quite happy with the MMCs. But looking forward (with pleasurable anticipation) to what is being planned for 2024 - hoping we can start seeing glimpses late this fall or early winter.

Supply chain issues I'm hearing here are a bit disturbing. Had no problem with my MMCs - got them in about a week and a half - but that was a couple years ago. Hope Mizzy gets its poop in a pile prior to my next purchase.

I’d like to see the step down from the blades blend a touch better, mostly from an offset perspective. I have some MP-58 long irons laying around and the visual is a lot better to my eyes. They have gotten a lot better with blending options but could make the transition a little less jarring.

agree. I have mizuno pro 520 (JDM Mp20 MMC). Have owned 223. These are the best irons I’ve ever had. Extremely forgiving and quite long. Amazing turf interaction. Can’t really get better IMO. Not really fussed with what they release. If I could get them to make me a custom set, I’d go for 923 Tour with a hair less offset. The MMC have a good amount but the iron is a bit bigger in length and top line so it fits. The 7-PW in the tour look a bit goosenecky. I believe the tours should be a degree or two stronger by default. They are making good strides with them - smaller scoring clubs and more bounce were positive changes, I’d just like to see the offset dealt with a bit better. Looks out of place on such a slender beautiful iron. Anyways, the 520/ 20 MMC is as underrated an iron as you can find.

New T24s??

First time poster, so not sure if this link works. But the Mizuno Europe Instagram account mentioned the Black 225s were available in Europe. What they said nothing about were the 3 T24s in the front of the bag. Clearly marked as T24 when zoomed in. An X grind on the 60.

I really don't need these.. But cannot resist temptation!!!

Good eye, that's a sneaky tease by Mizuno.

Looks like they've gone quite vokey sm9 esque in design? They look amazing to me based on this photo.

Obviously not expecting huge strides in performance in a wedge, but the T22 are great so these will be as well I'm sure.

From a distance you'd have trouble telling these apart from a Vokey, from the line work on the back to the loft/grind/bounce information on the toe.

Loft and bounce engraved on the sole is new. Maybe Mizuno is moving away from having stock blanks they bend.
