As an aspiring pro golfer, what am I and others supposed to do?

I have always been anti-LIV from the start so I was devastated when I read that the PGA Tour gave up and sold out to a country that doesn’t even have a history of the game of golf.

Which countries are allowed to be involved in golf and how long must they have had courses, tournaments, etc. before they are allowed to be involved and to what extent is acceptable?  Who decides this?

Ben Hogan sold his company to a Japanese businessman but that’s completely different as Japan had a rich history of golf at the time. Meanwhile in this scenario a monarchy was just bored and decided to throw money to see if they could have it.

Before all this, I aspired to play in Monday qualifiers to make it on tour but now what am I supposed to do in terms of morals? Go to Australia or Japan to play on their respective tours and try to qualify for the US Open or the Open in their qualifiers? This whole thing kinda stomped on my goals/plans and I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way.

Growing the game… Yeah right.

Get on and ride it or sit on the sidelines.

So, you're good enough to skip the Korn Ferry Tour?

He said he's taking the Monday qualifier route.  Probably the hardest possible route to take if you don't have any sort of status considering you have to prequalify for the Monday, and there's only so many events that are open for this type of entry.  It's a very expensive and difficult route.

Let me save you years of heartache and hundreds of thousands of dollars:

Go get a real job in a field with real growth opportunities. Every single "aspiring pro" I knew growing up is now in their late thirties, have no job experience/work history, no skills, broke, miserable, with drinking problems.

If you want to get paid for playing golf, you have to go to the people that will pay you to play golf.

If you're a good golfer and you don't mind missing a meal or two every so often, or enjoy staying in the homes of kind strangers at tournaments, just grind on some Mini Tour.  No Saudi money down there.  You will sleep in your car, but your morality will be fully intact.

Seriously.....this isn't rocket science.  If you don't like Saudi cash, don't take it.  Stay an Am, get a good job, play as much competitive golf as you can, and keep yourself unsullied.

Sure, just take the Monday qualifier route. Happens all the time.

Pointing out the obvious here, the OP is surely not an aspiring pro golfer

Bad way to think about life bro, I say you just quit your dreams and give up, while we're at it everyone should quit their jobs and dreams cause everything has bad ties somewhere in the chain. Also are you good enough to skip korn ferry tour Mr tiger woods.

Qualify and win a tournament but then state in your post win press conference that you will not be accepting the winnings due to your morals.

Quit golf and get a job on the corporate world where many of the shares are owned by the same people.

Or get a government job and work for an organization that called the same people allies.

I don't know, those sound like 2 pretty good options

I'm not one to shoot down somebody's dreams. I tried it myself as disillusion kid.  If you got game/money and think you can do it, then why not?  You only live once.  For me the reality came really quick when I'm on mini tours and smaller pro events, shooting 68's and still getting beat by a lot, then realizing those guys beating you still aren't good enough to make it.   You never know tho, a buddy of mine did make it to the tour and has been fairly successful out there, this was somebody I would beat regularly in junior golf and then out of nowhere his game just shot to another level.  Monday qualifiers tho would be the last route I'd try to go with it, you need 2 great rounds just to get into the event, and then 4 great rounds on top of that at the actual event.   You're pretty much positioning yourself in a way where you can't play one bad round.

Unless someone is living in a cabin in the middle of nowhere, living off of the land, completely off the grid, there's no sense in even going down the "morality" rabbit hole.

Isn’t that the thinking that got us here though ?  Not a personal attack. Just a thought provoking question.  Pre 1960 this wasn’t an issue.

certain  fields have to deal with substandard materials and tools because there is no other choice. ( I love this daily…. Thanks China. ).  No we have to watch substandard sports entertainment because- there will be no other choice.  What’s next.  I can tell you.  Food and housing.

I realize it’s a troll post most likely. But I said this two years ago.  What about the teen boys who want to play on the tour ?  After they turn this onto a team exhibition that doesn’t reward on a individual meritocracy base , then what ?  It’s no longer golf. It’s football with a golf club.  Most kids who gravitate to individual sports do so because they don’t like the team aspect , or the kids personalities that enjoy team sports. You see it a lot in track and cross country.  Those kids are individuals.  And they don’t jive with the football or basketball kids.  Yet they’re usually the best athletes in school.  Some cross over. But if you watch closely.  The ones that do socialize with the team sport kids.    This is a bigger upsetting of the actual game of golf than people think.

The way to change the game is from the inside. If you're good enough then anything is possible. TW 10-20 years ago could have single-handedly blocked the merger. Rors didn't have the power to do it today, maybe if he had 5 more majors.

If you really want to put a stop to this then get good, go win everything, and then you will call the shots. You will decide who can sponsor tournaments because YOU will BE the Tour (like TW in 2001). Focus on GOLF and everything else will come.

I'm completely aware.

I am making no comment on the difficulty of the process, I am merely making comment to the authenticity of the OP.

This. Known too many "pros" that were anything but. Shoot 63 on the home course, 75 in the tournament. Some people just don't have it when it counts.
