My VF 5X is misaligned in that same place, so it's definitely not just yours.  I bought mine from a distributor that I trust 100%, so these aren't fake.

Ive seen that on several shafts. Not an issue at all.

Mine seems to be misaligned as well and I got it from one of the members here who is a reputable fitter and has an account with GD and has connections to tour issue equipment.

I had the UB in the bag when it was released.  Couldn't square the face to save my life to it had to go.  May have been the softer mid compared to the VF.  I'd say it's the most similar shaft to the VF in terms of performance but more stable(for me)and feels a little more stout.  Same smooth feel though.

Yea, just when I saw it I kinda freaked out. I dind't buy from one of my usual stores on Rak but instead went for lowest priced (not by much, but still).

Wrx'rs are known for their impressive "tour like" speed.  Seldom do we see a 5s or 6s review 😉

That's your cue to go get one then.  In all seriousness, I'm loving the VF so far.  Teeing off here in a couple hours.  I'm gonna see if the wife will be ok with me keeping both the VF and TR Black.

Sounds like it doesn’t mean it’s a knock off. But dang, if I spent that much coin on a shaft you better believe I wouldn’t just accept that.

Haha.  I promise It's first on the list!  But, my gamer set up is so good and I can't mess with it.  New head will bring new shaft and I hope it lands the VF.  I'm single, ready to shaft mingle. 😆

Phizzy have you tested TR Red?  If so, is the VF handle as firm or firmer?

Yes, I've tested the TR Red.  I'd say that the TR Red has a slightly firmer handle compared to the VF.  However, the VF definitely has the stiffest tip out of all the modern GD shafts, IMO.

Did you go with your normal tipping? How's it compare to the UB, since you gamed that for a while?

Yes, 0.5 inch tipping as usual.  I would say it's the most similar to UB compared to all the modern GD shafts feel wise.  Very linear with almost no kick.  Launch is a tick lower and spin is similar.  VF seems a bit more stable though as I'm able to square the face and work the ball both ways.

ordered a 5x to test out at a longer length, interesting to see what I can pick up with it, should be here in a week or 2

I, for one, love that GD made this shaft - seemingly signature smooth feel, yet tight in dispersion and stiff tip. Has anyone hit both this shaft and the TP? I would love to try it. I really love the DI's relatively low spin but sometimes would like a lower flight.

I've tested the TP and have the VF.  DI was the most hook/left prone for me.  TP was more stable but the VF is the most stable modern GD shaft out of the entire line up for me.  I can work the ball both ways with the VF whereas the TP was pretty much a right to left shaft for me.  VF launches lower and spins less than the TP.  TP has that slight kick at the bottom of the swing whereas the VF has virtually no kick.

Thank you kindly, sir - I'm able to move the DI either way, but may want to give the TP a try. The VF may be a little much - I'm more of a Ventus Blue or TR Blue guy, and your comparisons to the Black or TR Black would be a bit much!

I took mine out for one driving range session. It feels stiff but launches surprisingly high for how it feels. I was thinking about ordering 5 R2 but my swing speed was in 101-103 that day (on Swingbyte). I'm worried that R2 might be too soft, especially if I make some swing improvements.

R2 is for swings below 85MPH. 101-103 is Stiff and barely an R1.

 

My wife uses graphite design R2 shafts and shes around that 80mph mark.

Maybe I'm going senile... Yes you're right, R1 is stiffer than R2. I thought I saw review on golfshaftreviews that 5R1 had the same EI area as 6SR but I just checked and they didn't even test it. But it is true for other GD shafts. So... R1 was the one I wanted to try and it would be equivalent of SR flex which I sort of prefer on some profiles (I got KKXT and Diamana DF in 60 SR).

You should probably be in S flex with your ss.  VF does feel stout and I would classify it as mid-low launch much like the TR Blue or Diamana GT for comparison, however it feels stiffer overall than either shaft.

After two range sessions and three on course trials, I've decided to keep the VF as my gamer.  I like being able to work the ball both ways and the VF fits in my ideal launch window with good numbers across the board.  There is no wild duck hook in it unless I hit it way off the toe which doesn't happen very often these days.  I believe that the stiff tip and mid section really help with stability for me.

I really wanted the UB to work out but I believe the softer mid is what caused my inability to square the face.  VF seems to check all the boxes except one which I couldn't find with any other shaft besides the TR Black.  However, it launches slightly higher than the TR Black without sacrificing too much stability/accuracy and easier to work both ways which is what sealed the deal.  The super smooth signature GD feel is also a bonus.  It was a tough decision that had to be made, haha.
