Titleist T150s are gonna be all-timers

I did T150 48° GW, then 54° in the SW and 60° LW. I prefer the set GW as it's a bit more forgiving on the full shots.

I have been debating this all morning. Was thinking 48/52/58 or 49/54/60(or 59) But I think I may get the t100 9 and PW and bend the 9 to 41. Rather bend strong then weak so I don't add bounce. That way I keep the same lofts as the Srixon z745 I have been playing for years. I really need some on course feedback to be sure.

If i could do it again i would do 48-52-60 instead of 48-54-60

The T150s are so long that my 48-54 gap is probably 20+ yards on full swings, maybe 22-23yds.

I would rather have a 52 that i can get creative with on 80% swings etc. Currently if i have like 114yds to a flag i don't really have a club i'm comfortable hitting.

This was my concern too. I am planning to order the set GW one degree weak to 49*, then go 54/58. I think the T150 GW will be a better full swing club from 120ish and I can always choke up to take a few yards off.

Really? I thought maybe the opposite.

Mr. Wolfe

I have played both and agree with Mr. Wolfe that it's closer to the opposite. They are similar in terms of footprint, look at address, basic specs, but the 150s are more precise tools and they are fully forged and feel light years better than the 225s. The 225s look cool but feel every bit like a hollow bodied iron. Not a satisfying club to hit at all IMO. I sold mine within a couple of months.

[Matt and Ian's TXG (Club Champion) review severely overhyped the 225s. They should have gotten stock options for their service to Mizuno (JK 😂), but the irons really aren't great. Many other Mizuno options that are superior]

I had a fitting this morning at Club Champion and I ended up in the T150’s with KBS C Taper 130X. The focus of the fit was bringing the flight and spin down from my current T100 irons. The fitter had a printout of PGA tour averages and their average peak height with 6 iron is 90 feet. I was consistently in the 115 ft range and over 120 when the face was left open. Descent angle of around 48 and 6k spin. I have a shallow angle of attack and not much shaft lean. The fitter joked that I could probably back up a 4 iron. When I focused on leading with the hands a bit more, the flight came down substantially. Need to keep working on that.

I have always been anti stronger lofted irons because I really don’t want more distance but the numbers were hard to argue with. The 44 degree PW is probably going to mess with my wedge gapping but the fitter said I could come down and do a follow up gapping session to see if it makes sense to weaken lofts a degree or so.

This was the 3rd iron fit that I’ve done and it was hands down the best fit I’ve had. I have had one absolute nightmare fit where the guy was obviously just trying to sell me the most expensive shafts he could and another where the fitter basically said, your clubs are fine and didn't really try hard to find something better.

I was really happy with the feel of the T150’s and thought the size was perfect. Really looking forward to getting them in a couple of weeks.

Nothing wrong with your previous numbers, Jer.

110feet is more than ideal with a 6 iron.

I've played 46/52/58 before. I don't mind the gap from 52/58 but dislike the 46/52. Too many approaches in that range. I don't know if I could handle an 8˚ gap at the bottom though.

I'm pretty certain I will move to the T100 41/9i and 46/PW. But I'm going to do more testing. I'm hoping the short irons aren't much longer than my z745's were. I don't like the idea of a drastic change at the bottom of my bag. Going to get on trackman and compare. I have some s400 AMT shafts I may try as well.

The 48* GW with the T-150 set is definitely a traditional PW and not a greenside tool.  That said, it's fantastic to have such a weapon from 115 (for me).  The spin control on full shots is really something.  I pair it with my 54/58 setup.

I've also thought about going for a 58° instead of my 60° next season...maybe when/if the new vokeys come out. I find it will probably be easier to hit 3/4 type shots with it vs the 60° and won't lose out too much greenside vs the 60°.

If your a long hitter you would employ 48,52, 56, and 60. If you’re not then you add the extra long club and play three wedges. I’m using a 58 for first time over the 60 this year and will see how it works.

Hit my set on the range first yesterday. (Mats in heated stall) A bit disappointed in the feel coming from Srixon, even on flushed shots, but I like the ball flight. Have to hit some real balls outdoors to really confirm that though. Also the LZ shaft isn't bad. Didn't have an issue flighting shots, pitches, punch shots etc. Kind of like the active feel.

Well yeah, it is a steel face welded to a forged body. A srixon is fully forged. So Welding needed

Yeah we've talked about it a bit in this thread and others, they don't feel like a classic forged head. I was coming from PXG 0317ST which felt like butter also.

There's a thwackyness about them that reminds you a bit more of your typical cast club. It's probably somewhere in the middle feel wise.

I just love the performance though

I probably should had looked into it a bit more, but I had thought the short irons 8-PW were typical forged CB. But they feel a bit thwyacky too. Going to hit some outside today. Might even play 9 if I have time as it's 50˚ today.

I'm not saying they feel horrible. I just wasn't looking for help in short irons so not a tradeoff I was expecting.

I’m loving these as well….almost as much as you!

My only two bits worth of advice for some of you is …..don’t overthink it.  Hit them for a bit before worrying about adjusting some lofts a degree or two to match some previous set as many have mentioned.

What matters more?  Loft degrees or distance?  As you had mentioned months ago I too am hitting these further than my ZX7’s. Even though on 5-8 the loft degrees are identical.

Merry Christmas to all!

Irons on the tour are all about control.  They want to consistently see the ball do the same things based on how they manipulate the club.  Anecdotally looking at winners on pga tour with titleist irons in bag this season, most are playing the mb or cb in pw - 5 irons.  A couple move to a t100 in the long iron.  Tom Kim is a notable example playing a full set of t100.  They have zero problem hitting a 180+ 7 iron, and most don’t desire to hit it further.

The Majority by a bit uses the CB or MB. Notable exceptions based on Titleist Website are Spieth using a full set of 21 T100's and Tom Kim using 23 T100 except for a T200 2 iron, Sung Jae Im hitting 2019 T100's, and Ludvig Aberg using a set of 23 T100's. The rest mostly have mixed bags of different T series in the lower lofted clubs and then switching to CB's for the 6-9. Its a bit all over the place honestly.

Agree with this.  Speith, Kim, Im, Aberg play mostly full sets of t series.

The rest are generally in a cb/mb combo is thru 5/6 iron they pw and t series in the longer irons.

Moved Ap2 714 kbs tour x soft step 1x loved those clubs. Moved to 2021 T100s KBS tour S+ soft step 1x. They are okay extremely workable left to right. I have a hard time fighting. Tried mizuno 223 with modus 120 didn't like. T150 kbs tour s+ soft step 1x. Love it can flight them much easier. Gained distance.  Not as easy to work the ball side to side and I like that. To me it's a great feeling sounding club on fully compressed balls. I see these being a 7-10 year iron for me.

Has anyone been able to compare head to head the t150 vs t200 utility build as a 4 iron replacement or even 3 iron (19 deg) as mini driving iron ?

I dont need help with distance but looking for something a little more forgiving and always tinkering with 5 wood / hybrid etc as a 230 -240 club

Variable being graphite shaft with different weight and feel in utility head vs same iron shaft in a t150

i was able to hit the t150 4 iron off a mat and liked it but didn’t have my normal shaft on there.  I hit t200u off of grass with bonded shaft in a different session so wondering peoples experience here
