Tigerrrrrrrrr!!!!! 😳😃

Total Tiger fan here. Have been since he first joined the tour. Has provided some astounding drama over the years, some incredible golf, and has done almost unbelievable things for the sport itself.

 

And his mental toughness has always been beyond belief. But - all that said - while I think he may well have another Major in him (you know he really wants in, and geez wouldn't that be something to see), IMO it ain't gonna be Augusta. 

 

Many WRXers have been patrons there over the years (I've been several times, and got to play it once), but for those that have only seen it on TV, it is a positively wicked golf course to walk, and it is difficult to fully appreciate it on TV. The elevation changes are significant, and I swear there's not a single flat lie on that whole damn course. Ball is always above or below the feet, or you're hitting on an uphill or downhill lie. It is physically positively exhausting. 

 

I'm in pretty good shape, play a lot of golf and walk unless I'm forced to ride, but a couple times I was a spectator I walked the course with groups, and I was tired at night - just casually walking it as a spectator. Tiger's knees and ankles are shot, back not that great either. And Augusta in punishing.

 

I can see Tiger (maybe) having a shot at The Open or something if the stars all align (all the courses in the rota there are far gentler on the body - we all remember Watson), but no, sadly, I just don't see Tiger winning another Masters.

In truth, I'm booing and hissing myself. I would dearly love to see Tiger win another Masters (almost can't imagine what an event that would be - truly one for the ages). But it is a matter of his clearly diminished physiology, coming face to face with the fierce, unrelenting geography of the ANGC.

 

(Not to say I won't be rooting for him next week tho.)

Afterthought - to this day I remember the 1986 Masters. Utterly riveting. Jack's final major. Won it by one stroke with one of the most astounding final rounds, like, ever. He freaking shot -6 on the back nine to win it. Wish I could see Tiger go out like that.

I was stationed in Germany when it happened.  It was a big thing over there, people talked about it.  Jack was old, really old, lol.

I was playing a lot of golf at that time (far more than I get to today - was close to scratch). And the entire golf world didn't talk about anything else for the next month. Seemed impossible that he could win it - especially in that dramatic of a fashion. He really was old - but his body was not nearly as banged up as Tiger's is. 

 

If Tiger actually won another Masters, I think it would be that level of huge. One of those tournaments that golf fans remembers years later.

Watching that with my dad is what made me want to play for real. 

 

I was 8 years old and already riding along with dad at tournaments he'd be playing in. Was obsessed with putt-putt. Seeing the crowd reaction - and dad's, too ... he was a huge Nicklaus fan - I was like "I wanna do that when I grow up." I just thought you had to be an adult to play "real" golf because I never saw any kids doing it. Dad was like "You don't have to wait!"

 

Brought me home a set of cut down Muirfields he bought off a friend that following week.

Main worry is how he was clearly sweating in the pics from yesterday. Same as during the Hero, seems evident he's feeling the strain on his body from very early in any rounds/sessions and it doesn't really let up.

he's always sweated to much not sure how to fix him in that regard ;}
