phil gets 6 years for the pga championship so he'll be 57 when that runs out not 55.

so in his case he's losing 4 years 2027-2030

As it should be. The Majors should also think about giving the winners a three year exemption for the wins, anything else is excessive. IMO

@bscinstnctsometimes you guys to need to simply read more than a single tweet to get the entire accurate picture of a change. Phil is still good for the Open Championship until age 60. Taken from one of numerous articles written today on this subject. This one from Golf.com - People need to read them instead of depending upon "the socials". 

 

On Wednesday the governing body announced that past champions will only be exempt until the age of 55. The current age cap is 60. All golfers currently exempt as past champions will be grandfathered in and still be able to play the Open until 60.

 

So Phil (and others) are still good until their 60th birthday to play in the Open Championship. The announced change is for Open Championship winners going forward. Just sayin yo. 🤪

He can certainly carry his kids bag and play a pro am, and then decide if he wants to tee it anywhere else

 

He owes nobody squat 

 

He may just feel like he can’t compete at the Players so why bother? 
 

I don’t think TW has anymore 2018-19 grinds left in him. That was a super human effort to suck it up for 2 years and get #15

 

But now?

 

He could be getting to the point where it’s not worth taking on the pain and effort when he’s got no shot to win.

That’s fine and all but the PGA Tour is struggling and he’s been a vocal leader and now an official leader of it. If he’s so hurt he can’t play next week, don’t play Seminole.

I mostly agree.  But don't carry and then give us any excuses why you can't play. just say you're not interested.

Tiger?  There’s a slim chance he might win something in the next 22 months… probability is low however.   Maybe on a flatish course.  
However, on the old guys tour I’d say 50-50.  
Maybe 50.  We’ll see.

And what  does carrying or playing a pro am have to do with the players?

 

TW can carry and play pro ams, but know his golf game sucks too much to be playing competitively in tour events. Especially this field.
