Tour New Ping S159 wedges - #2

Blueprints will be in consumers hands on January 25th. I have heard that S159 embargo date and ship date are in February.

I keep coming back to this thread to drool over these. I’m probably going 50S, 56S, and 60B…… but first I want to compare H and B in the 60.

I have the Glide 4.0 in a 54 and 58, both in the "Eye2" shape....but seeing these in the Eye2 shape AND available in black.....lord please offer me a 50 degree in the Eye2 with the black finish....please

54* H, and 58* T, with an E grind probably in 58* for rotation and testing purposes I'm thinking.

Can someone explain the h grind?  Any comparison to the es sole?

It's PING's Half Moon Grind. It's crescent shaped: trailing edge relief and lots of heel/toe relief. I would compare it to an M Grind from Vokey or a C from Callaway.

The "E" sole would be the new ES sole from older Glides.

I wish a 50 was offered in slightly less bounce than 12*.

My recommendation is to get a 52, and make it 2 degrees strong. 10 degrees bounce is still a lot, but feels better on a GW than 12 (if you’re bounce-sensitive like me).

Thank you. I’ve seen that one but was looking for the English version as posted above. When translating the Japanese version, I’m still interpreting what that translation means. That being said, I think I can make some assumptions as to what the B is.

From reading the Ping Japan site it seems very similar to M or C grinds from other manufacturers.

I would think you will be able to order one with a custom WRX grind option to decrease the bounce.

Really like how they are bringing two different bounce options for each style of player with high-lofted wedges. I think their stock grind options are finally complete.

Looks like Dicks and Golf Galaxy have these up on the sites as “coming soon”. Also looks like everything will be available in black (to assuage any fears from earlier posts that it would just be one or two of the grinds/lofts)

Seems like H grind is the half moon wrx and the B is the bounce wrx grind.  Really looking forward to these, waiting for our Ping Rep/local builder to have these in hand.  I'll test both in a fitting studio and on grass before taking the plunge.  

 

Now if I can just add leading edge to them, we'll be in biznass...

It did not appear that the black tour issue glide 4s had it. If this is the same coating then I imagine no, but I also don’t know what I’m talking about. The coating does seem to soften the feel a bit though.

From pictures, at least for me, when comparing the W & B grinds, the B grind looks pretty damn similar to the W, just with less bounce

I want that T grind 58, H grind in the 54. Thinking 48* as well. ..still debating finish but the black is very tempting. My money is ready to burn. 2 more weeks damn

If the i530 lofts are as strong as indicated, and they work for me, I can see a 54S bent to 52 and a 58H in my future.

I just ordered the Blueprint S. so I mean only be natural to add the wedges. Plus these look spectacular and the grinds look much improved

Planning on a i530 4i maybe bent weak to match power spec BPS.
