New Ping S159 wedges - #2

From the looks of it you have two options in a "half moon" heel-toe grind - The T6 and the H8.

Then in a fuller wider grind you have two options - The B8 and W14.

The S grind is an all-rounder, S12 has a little bit off the back and then in the higher lofts S10 has just a little heel-toe as well.

I love these new grinds, can't wait to hear more about them. I really think PING has all their bases covered in wedge grinds now. They are getting right up there with Vokey. I would imagine S-12 in the 54/56 and then H8 or B8 in the 58/60 will be very popular setup.

I have F-Grind 54 and LBK-grind 58 in my Vokeys and have had some success with that setup, so I’m just trying to figure out what grinds in the S159 would match up with them.

H and B grinds look interesting!

H looks like a half moon grind or C/M grind.

B looks like a low bounce W grind or LB K grind.

Very excited about the B grind. I hope it is Pings equivalent of a low bounce K. Maybe even describe it as a mid bounce K.

H-grind? What have we come to.

See the original Ping Glide. They had the ES grind without the Eye head. Just reinvent the wheel... your own wheel for goodness sakes.

The H grind can be found on Pings from 10 or more years ago tho rarer than some other grinds.

Woah, woah woah, black "midnight" only offered in S grind?  I really hope that's only a restriction for the Japanese market, but disappointing if not.

Based on all the other pictures, I’d assume that is Japan, only. There are a lot of pictures floating around of every grind and every loft in this finish.

Im trusting these will be available for Spring play.  They've cleverly stashed visuals of the wedge in the back of too many PING promotional shots to not be an upcoming release.  Not to mention they've been in tour bags for 6 months.

I'm thinking PGA Show...or at worst late feb.  Likely still building up stock to dispense.  That's a LOT of wedges globally.  I know my PGA store gets at least 80pcs and there are several PGA stores in my state not to mention ma/pa and GG.  Multiply that times the many hundreds of PING authorized resellers between USA, Europe, and Asia.  Tens of thousands of pcs.

Excited about these.

I was told these ship in February when I was asking about the Blueprint ship dates. I was given the same day but I’m not sure if that is accurate.

These are fantastic looking wedges.

Anyone know how they will compare from a size perspective to the Glides? I gamed the 3.0 glides and while they performed well, they felt a bit chunky and large at times.

Same day as what?  (just didn't follow you, because the Blueprints ship in 10 days. Maybe you meant something else)

No confirmation here, but my guess it the new H-Grind stands for “Hovland”.

Few articles written about how Viktor was taking the 58° T-Grind (6° of bounce) and bending it to 60° to add bounce, which would turn it into an 8° bounce head.

Seems like the H-8 would be the same idea right off the shelf and grind itself looks pretty similar to the T.

This is exactly how I play mine. It is just very versatile. Works great off tight lies and out of bunkers. Honestly its basically an M Grind Vokey of sorts.

Isn't the screen grab also from Japan? Again, there are pics on here of all grinds with the black finish.

Whoops. Should have been more thorough. I was told Blueprints will ship 2/13. I was told the wedges would be the same. Again, I don’t know if that is accurate. Just sharing what I was told. I was also told I could order wedges now but I wanted clarity on the grinds before I did that. The person I order through didn’t have that clarity, so I haven’t ordered yet.

I hope what I was told was wrong and you are right. It would be awesome if the irons ship next week!

Yep

And yeah, we have them all in black in the photos, maybe Japan is getting a bum deal and only getting S in black or something... 🤷‍♂️

PING told my reseller to expect my Blueprint-s on 1/25.  We'll see!

Always baffled as to why Japan gets special models over US / Canada and Europe.

Because the Japanese market has proven they will pay more (oft-times a LOT more) to/for a manufacturer to build them exactly what they want.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.
