Whats with this 56? All look like straight up bladed wedges more or less except this one. Is this style only offered in 1 loft? Because that would seem odd.

I think the heads in these pics just don't have the insert installed? Looks like a clip inside the cavity there that would accept the insert.

Not sure why they aren't in there - maybe needs to be out if they are going to grind down the sole for a build?

No it’s just the slit they put the weight into. More of a swing-weight feature than anything

The S159 wedges look great...and clearly designed for the better player. When the ChipR was released, there was some speculation that the line would be expanded to more lofted clubs. Furthermore, I read comments on wrx and elsewhere about similar names being trademarked.

Any rumblings about Ping introducing a line of GI type wedges targeted at mid to high cappers in 2024?

Clubs: Ping (Driver, 5W, 5H, 6H, 7i-UW), Cleveland (wedges), Odyssey 2-Ball counter balanced

Ball: Maxfli Tour (yellow) or Vice Pro (neon lime); Callaway ORG 7 bag; Shot Scope x5

I think if it is a PING, it's already more forgiving than most out there.

No firm date yet. Retailer said stuff will be rolled out gradually from January to March. I know there is a driver, some new PLD’s, wedges, a few iron sets…

To be specific, the items expected should be:

G430 driver 10k

G730 irons

Blueprint S & T irons

S159 wedges in chrome & black

PLD options

For more, please see the Ping 2024 thread.

The black ones look flat out awesome.  I recently added a glide 4.0 56/W but these may have to replace it.

I don't think you're going to see anything for "mid-cap" besides these. This is a Glide replacement. The GFP isn't being continued. They're offering different grinds, so it's either these, or set wedges.

Believe me, if they had a higher lofted chipper, I'd give that a very quick purchase. 38º isn't usable.

If you're looking for "GI" wedges, they'll be part of the iron sets. I'm guessing you'll want to see these in person. They shouldn't be intimidating like the GFPs were (are?).

Makes sense. Some else reminded me that the G430 wedges include UW, SW and LW and so Ping really does offer GI wedges, which special wedges in the GI category would cannibalize.

Regarding the ChipR, I couldn't agree more that if Ping expanded the line to a version which was more the loft of a retro PW (44*-46*) I'd jump on it! I play the current model, but mainly for chip and run shots, for which I might otherwise use an 8-iron, and a more lofted option could be terrific for pitch shots.

51-53º would be surprisingly good, as other companies have shown but with cheap models. The Cleveland wasn't bad.

Trying to figure out how the B-grind compares to W-grind other than the W-grind has higher listed bounce.

Has there been a Ping (or other OEM) with a grind comparable to Ping’s S159 B-grind?

Might be the first time in a long time I do a pre-order for wedges (S159 in 54 & 58) and driver (Ping G430 Max 10K in 10.5*).

From the looks of it you have two options in a "half moon" heel-toe grind - The T6 and the H8.

Then in a fuller wider grind you have two options - The B8 and W14.

The S grind is an all-rounder, S12 has a little bit off the back and then in the higher lofts S10 has just a little heel-toe as well.

I love these new grinds, can't wait to hear more about them. I really think PING has all their bases covered in wedge grinds now. They are getting right up there with Vokey. I would imagine S-12 in the 54/56 and then H8 or B8 in the 58/60 will be very popular setup.
