Titleist Woods 2024

Heard from a source connected to a player who has been testing pre-release prototypes. Commented that Titleist is going away from the material for the face, the ATI. Just passing along!

If so then they found a alloy that gave same results. Or ATI wasn't really the tech behind the ball speed

People seem to love to come in on these and say how nothing has changed and it's all bs. Someone is looking forward to something and they just want to rain on the parade. "I'm going to buy a new computer."  "You know those haven't changed much in the last 8 years, why would you do that, it's all BS?". "I'm thinking of buying some new shoes" "Shoe design is effectively the same for over a thousand years". People buy new things, fashion, home furnishings, appliances, etc. and are excited to learn about the product and try something new. Then there's the people who just like to rain on other's parade and act smarter than everyone else. No one is saying, wow I can't wait for this new material that will make me drive it 20 yards further with 50% better dispersion.

Why taking so personally?  It is marketing BS, and nobody is trying to rain on any parade, just pointing out that it will be "new" not better.  If one wants to buy into it, go ahead.  It takes many generations of anything for a significant change generally for most products.  Nobody is saying that they are smarter or saying that somebody is dumb.  Damn, it's just a sentence or two on a golf internet board.

Cmon man be honest. You don’t even know what it is that will be new and you’re saying it won’t be better. It’s exactly what you’re doing.

First of all, that is not true.  At no point was it stated by myself that something will or will not be better.  I just agreed to a previous poster before me that stated that the face material may be changing from what they have been using and thus creating more marketing BS and you must be living under a rock if you don't see that.  Second, what defines "better"?  I play a TSR2 driver at the moment, and a fairway, there is no bad mouthing going on, just the fact that Titleist, along with many other companies will have marketing BS on a new product weather better or not.

Well yes, just pointing out your opinion that it is all marketing BS. You are certainly free to have that opinion if you wish, but I've been playing the TSR3 driver, and TSR2 3W/5W, and they are definitely the best woods I've ever played. Noticeably different (though in subtle ways) from the TSi line, and (IMO) significantly better than the TS or 917 lines.

Marketing is certainly part of every OEM product release, and yes, no new release is going to do something dramatic like automatically add ten yards to your drives, but simply dismissing all new releases as merely marketing hype seems to kinda - overstate the fact. The OEMs put millions of dollars, and use significant technology to perpetually develop (often in conjunction with the sponsored pros) and prototype new clubs (and shafts and balls).

It is silly to just completely believe all marketing hype, but this is WRX, and few people here do that. They talk about actual performance - on launch monitors and on the course - of clubs that they game. I believe, however, that it also silly (though at the other extreme) to definitively state - especially of a club that hasn't even been released yet - that it will only be new, and not better.

or all is just 100% marketing BS 😉

This is the post that I agreed with, not my post from the jump.  All of this nonsense is just stupid.  At no point did anybody say that the new driver face will be better or worse.  It will for some and it won't for other's.  The point is no matter what, there will be marketing BS stating that it will be great no matter what, that's what marketing is.  But, Titleist does not even come close to the overboard stuff that TM or Callaway do for example.  Yes, something will change on the new clubs, is there going to be marketing BS?  Yes, there will be.  Will it be better?  Again, most likely some will say yes, and some will say no.  Can't be anymore clear.

It is all marketing BS though. It’s nauseating and I take full responsibility for subjecting myself to it. It’s the reason I’ve deleted Instagram and Facebook etc.

The modern golf equipment industry doesn’t survive without MBS (marketing BS, not the other MBS)

Year after year they pitch new models, new paint, and other configs as these manufacturers develop changes in their supply chain, materials, assembly, labor, and MBS to put a nice bow on it. There are marginal improvements YoY in these categories and MBS has to move that product. I really don’t see the performance improvements, I see cost, club building, and labor improvements. “How can we build a club that costs less and has a larger profit margin?”
It’s a profit driven industry, not product performance driven. Those improvements crest in different generations of product; persimmon->metalwood->titanium-> adj hosels etc.

Would I love to see companies move to 5+ year product cycles that put out vastly different performing products? Maybe except that would get boring. I think it would be great, we could see less waste and more focus on playing better instead of buying better.

End of sanctimony, show me the new club already!

100% is marketing bs? All of it? There isn’t a single thing in the product that warrants legitimate claims in promotions?

come on man you know that isn’t true

Yeah they will say they made a new face and it’s great. Big deal.

it’s not like they’re saying you will die if you don’t get it (looking at you Pfizer)

I am a Titleist fan, but can't imagine them improving on TSR3.  Super forgiving, long as anything I have ever hit, launches super high with very little spin, feels 1000 times better than these junky carbon drivers, and looks perfect at address.  What more could you possibly want?

It would be cool if they added a front weight to the TSR3, similar to the TSR4, to give it more adjustability and a lower spin setting.

@GolfWRX_Official could the mods possibly try to police these kinds of threads a little more proactively? If folks want to have a “get off my lawn thread” on equipment costs, product release cycles etc they should do so in a dedicated forum. Allowing them to troll in threads where most people are coming to hear any rumors / intel about new product releases (not pontification by keyboard warriors) detracts from the value of these pre-release threads to most users in my opinion.

They’re not leaking the photo until May, what else are we supposed to talk about?
