Informed by a local rep they're returning to the 9XX model name, likely 925 and that they are planning an earlier release than normal.

Then wouldn’t be the 725 or 825 😬

Do tell! We gonna see them on the PGAT in the next month or two? Any idea when they might get released into the wild for us duffers?

Asking for a friend. Actually, strike that. Totally asking for me. Am all aquiver.

Even secret gossip and unverified rumors appreciated.

Very excited for their new release, I had the Stealth, Rogue ST, Stealth 2 and then I tried the TSR2 and my search ended

Tried the new offerings this year, was tempted by the Cobra Darkspeed, but I realised I was so impressed by it because it just performed similarly to my TSR2

That being said, I have a TSR2 5 wood that is collecting dust because I like the Darkspeed much better from this year, and also would take the Rogue ST lineup from a few years ago over the TSR woods any day

I think the Callaway Smoke AIs and any of their recent woods would perform similarly well for me though, I wouldn't say it's anything specific to the TSR lineup

The TSR woods are rocket launchers, but I can control the shot shape much easier with Callaways my distance control is way more consistent too

Either way, props to Titleist for the 2 year release cycle, it gives so much more value to their products

Taylormade is by far the worst in that respect, where they basically say "well this is everything that was wrong with last year's driver that we said was the best but really was kinda a**" in their marketing

May have already been suggested, but wouldn't it make sense for the Cam Young 2W to morph into the new TSx2+ slot in the lineup?

^^^ This. They take their time. Release carefully and thoughtfully. A lot of R&D goes into those clubs. Every new release - be it D/FWs or irons - are well worth considering.

And, personally, the two year release cycle suits me well. I am a bit of a ho and like new clubs, but also like to get to know clubs, their personalities. Actually wouldn't want completely new clubs every year (though I must admit the urge to continually fiddle with things - have changed shafts three times already in the TSR).

That assumes they will continue with a + model next time, which might not happen. I could see them separating the 2 and 3 a bit more in terms of footprint and then adding 2w to the lineup in place of the + model.

But I also think they could keep all of the above, because the 2w leans more toward mini-driver so it serves a different purpose.

I'm so curious as to the differences between the 2+ and the 2W. We'll never get to really know, but are they THAT different? I can't imagine that they're different enough to justify both being added to the lineup.

Then, sure enough, Titleist just does what they do and stick to the usual 2 year cycle.

I haven't read one post on this thread that would suggest an "early release" is significantly diverting from their standard 2-year cycle.  What everyone is implying by "early release" is a July/August release vs. their past timeframe of September/October.

They would be pretty different.  The 2+ isn't much bigger in profile than a 3-wood.  The 2W would be a good bit bigger in profile, and be targeted for most as a driver substitute on narrow holes.

Fair, but I actually found the 2+ to look quite a bit bigger at address than the other fairways

You can kind of get a glimpse in this photo of JT's bag. Behind the driver on the right, partially obscured, is his TS3 15 degree. To its left is the TSR 2w. A little hard to tell, I realize, but to my eye the 2w looks dramatically bigger than the 3w. Hopefully we'll know the full details soon. (Let's go Titleist! 😆)

If accurate a game changer here in driver market.  They must be on to something.   Titleist should up the auntie on PXG then and do a $250 driver challenge.    If your current gamer beats the new Titleist driver release they give you $250 Mastercard gift card.   I took the PXG challenge not long ago and PXG won.   🙂

That seems very abusable because you can just slow your swing down a bit when trying the PXG and just bank a free 250$?

Yeah, but this is the first time an employee set for retirement is so excited for the ground breaking new release that they decided to hold of on retirement 😉

That said I also love the EOY release cycle. And I typically pull the trigger on a new one every other driver. Still playing and loving my TSi2.

I guess.  I tried my darnedest to keep the current gamer in the bag but PXG won hands down.  I wanted it to be an accurate apples to apples.  Whether you love or hate PXG it was pretty balsy for them to do what they did.

I did a team Titleist fitting today. I mentioned I set up a time in August to do a fitting at TPI after the new metals come out. He said he doesn’t know many details yet, but everything he has heard indicates they should be very very good.

Granted, no one will ever say that the new products will be duds, but it seems like word inside Titleist is folks are very excited for this release.

Yeah it's no comment on PXG specifically, I haven't tried their drivers, I've owned a set of 0311T Gen 4, which I thought were okay, and also a set of Sugar Daddy IIs, which I thought were some of the best wedges I've ever hit

It's a ballsy policy though, definitely - kudos to them
