I still remember having 975D in the bag and hearing the J was coming out. When it came out I rushed to the local shop and picked one up w/a Grafalloy Pro-Lite 35 so I could game it in my Tuesday twilight league!

Same here - got the 975J with the True Temper EI-70 shaft.  It was the first driver I could hit consistently well.  Upgraded that to the 983K with the stock "Speeder" shaft a couple of years later.  Loved the 983K.

Anyone have any reviews or general comments about c16? Seems like they could release a tsr3 shaped driver with carbon top and have a huge winner. Like those old cobra speed project drivers…. Those were awesome.

I guess If they didn't even consider SMX, TSX is probably a no based on that too perhaps...

I did do a Team Titleist wedge fitting a couple weeks back and mentioned to the fitter that I would like to get fit for the driver as we had a little extra time and I was his last fit of the day. He strongly suggested I wait until the new one is out because it would be a noticeable difference. He could have easily sold me on a driver because I am a whore and I love the look of their stuff, but he didn't. He also didn't go into any details so I guess I will just have to wait like everyone else.

With Ping adding carbon to their stable of heads.  I hope Titleist stays with titanium crowns.  The sound/feel is more appealing to a lot of us.

Its weird that (in my view) only Taylormade comes close to Titleist in that department. Those two are the most satisfying feeling (and sounding) drivers to me at the moment (Titleist always has been, Taylormade since the carbon face). Shows how much construction matters. All Ti vs lots of carbon and even a carbon face.

Figured I'd comment about the "925" topic with different materials. I'll entertain the speculation that it's a new alloy or new to the club heads like ATI. Unfortunately I don't see how it can blow the competition out of the water with everything maxed out. But 925 makes sense for Titleist lol

Not at all; I can appreciate the TM sound.  The Qi LS head looks greateat this year.

The 3 did not get the face upgrade in the R line.  That seems like a likely assumption.  This year, the improvements with Qi10, AI Smoke, and Darkspeed seem to be geared around high-toe strikes, maintaining close-to-center face spin numbers.

The C16 had titanium crown (first usage of ATI-425). The 909Dcomp has been Titleist’s only carbon crown attempt.

The reality is that Titleist has been able to reach some of the lowest CG’s on the market since the TS using all titanium (basically no performance benefit in changing to a carbon crown vs their thin titanium crown).
