Your favorite shots to pull off?

I love these threads because they're just license to stroke ourselves 😆

The "exceptionally good recovery shot after a bad tee shot" are the ones that always stick out for me, especially if you have to take some goofy line to do it. When the direct line is blocked out but aiming 50y in either direction affords an opening and its within the range you can curve the ball back, that sort of "Bubba Watson Masters hook shot" sort of vibe. Bonus points for when those are approaches on Par 5's as well that take you from likely pars with potential birdie upside but bogey downside to legit birdie looks with eagle upside and par is the floor. Those are the best.

Runner up are those perfectly nipped 50-60y long pitches that stop on a dime right where you wanted. They don't have to be stuffed either, I almost prefer when it's a sucker pin that I aim 15y away from with the "if I can shape/spin it slightly towards the hole then awesome, but if it sticks there I did my job".

I hit these kinds of shots waaaaaay too often for them to be my favorites. These kinds of shots are merely testament to my ability to keep things mediocre. Of course I can lace my tee shot into the woods and save a bogey.

I often feel like CPG, taking my range bucket into the woods to practice punch outs...

What I want is the solid, vanilla iron from the middle of the fairway that gets close enough for me to sink the putt - these days, it needs to be somewhere within about 18 inches of the cup.

How many quality drives and approach shots can one waste?

My favorite shot to pull off is a long approach to the green, where the ball actually stays on the green.  It's my favorite because I so rarely pull this shot off successfully, so I savor it when it does actually work out.

Totally butchered my first three shots on a 550 yard par 5 Sunday. Drive was far left, sliced the second far right into trees, third hit a tree.  Had 148 yards uphill to the green with trees directly in front of me.  Smoothed a 7I fade to 5’ and made the putt to save par.  That felt real good.  👍

I suck at it, but nothing like hitting a knock down with a long iron or fairway wood with an intentional power fade to go around an obstruction or because it's the best entry angle to the green.  My natural shot is a draw, so it doesn't come natural to me.

I can manage to hit big high fades most times just by opening up the club face, but there is just this feeling I get when knocking it down and compressing the ball with intentional fade/slice spin that feels so pure.

My favorite shot to pull off is the one that comes off exactly the way I saw the shot in my mind in my pre shot routine.  Might be something to those psychology books about visualization ;).

Had one on Sunday, hole 18, tied match, 237 into a par 5 in 2.  Pulled out my 21 degree U wood and just saw a nice high floating shot that landed on the front third of the green and trickled back to the pin.  Hit the shot exactly like this and had 10 feet for eagle to two putt and win the match.

I love, love, love hitting ridiculous 60-yard hooks to back-left pins for fun. Not so much in tournaments, but in casual rounds they are so fun.

Long putts are always the best.  Non-putter, I would have to go with any big bender around and obstacle and sticking the green.

My favorite is setting up to hit a fade and pulling it off as my stock shot is a draw.  When I successfully hit a cut on command consistently, it means my swing is in a groove and my game is in a good place.  This usually coincides with me going low as my short game is decent most of the time.

So many.

Little hooky draws with high-lofted wedges; getting the ball to stick and then spin left towards the pin.

Knockdown long irons on downhill approaches that land short or at the front of the green and then trickle on up to the hole.

Catching the slope on an approach shot and watching the ball feed down towards the pin.

Knockdown wedges.

Cutting off doglegs over trees with a big drive that finds the fairway.

An up and down to save par from 50-100 yards.

Low handle bunker shots that shoot way up in the air over a menacing lip.

Intentional chip ins from off the green.

The toe-strike shot with a blade putter from off the green in thick rough.

The slippery downhill putt that you barely tap and trickles into the hole (especially from long range).

A precise and well placed long iron tee shot into a tight fairway (feeling like vintage Tiger).

Hunting down the green with a driver on a short par 4 or an all out fairway wood on a long par 5.

I love this game.

A short-iron draw back against a left-to-right cross wind. Sets in nice and soft with little release or spinback... often sets up a birdie!😃

For me, it is a great recovery shot that gets on the green after a bad tee shot. Whether it's threading a needle through the trees or landing a high soft 5W/hybrid, it feels amazing to bounce back after the bad drive.

For me there are two distinct types of shots that seem to always stick in my memory over the years (the few times they have been pulled off that is).  An absolutely flushed fairway wood shot to set up an eagle on par 5s or a pure long iron shot to setup birdie on long par 3s (3 or 4 iron).  Special memory goes out to the moment when a 6 hour playing 5some in front finally gets off the green and you pull the trigger immediately after their feet leave the green and you proceed to stick it to a 1 foot as you shrug shoulders to gesture “just another day at the office.”

Nothing like a good long iron stinger draw. Or the old lob wedge stinger

This is one of my favorites to watch when I pull it off...... just normally fades lol. The stinger fade just isn't as sexy to me.

I agree with most of the others posts about getting out of trouble with my driving iron. Those are my favorite shots of the round when they work.

One that doesn't happen a lot is executing a perfect shot when its super windy. I always try to get out to the course when the winds pick up just because it frees me up so much. 170 into a howling wind, picking the correct club and executing the shot shape is so satisfying when it lands the right distance. Playing into the gusty winds within wedge distance is fun too, shoot a 75% shot that will normally go 20 yards past the green that rises with all the spin and plops down within 10 ft is just so satisfying to me.

I’m going with second shots into par 5’s, thinking back over the years these seem to stick in my memory as favourites or most memorable
