Hovland splitting with his swing coach after hitting the ball as well as anyone has in years was odd at the time but especially odd now! Wonder what happened:

https://www.rte.ie/sport/golf/2024/0307/1436465-hovland-seeks-to-tweak-swing-amid-frustrating-year/

I am sure that Mayo and Hovland had just been working on the short game together as opposed to his full swing but nonetheless, given the strides that Hovland took last year and they way that he seemed to elevate his game, this year has become a strange one.

It's often happened to Rory and a few other players where you could be playing unbelievable golf in August/September these days but there are no major to capitalise on, and by the time April comes around it's a completely different scenario. Meanwhile for other players if you just hit a bit of form around now for a few months, you can really take advantage. One of the reasons I'm not the biggest fan of the condensed major schedule. Hovland was playing so well back then, but as we know ourselves, six months is a long time in golf.

So I guess Mr. October doesn’t work so well as a golf moniker?   😀🤓🏌🏼‍♀️

Not going to make excuses for Nick but it would seem really awkward playing alone.

Left on #3 is a watery grave - somewhat similar to #18 at Sawgrass.

Once saw Sam Saunders shank one off the tee into the backyards on the right - with Arnold sitting in a cart watching.

Gonna be interesting to see what impression Bay Hill gives this year. That varies a little for me each year, what kind of TV experience the course provides. Traditionally, it's been a little on the low tone among the Florida Swing courses. I usually find PGA National and in the old days the Blue Monster more exciting.

Does anyone else get annoyed with how often it’s brought up that some of these guys are “friends”? Like every damn broadcast they bring up:

- Cantlay and Xander are great friends, even went to Napa once to drink wine. WOW.

- Chris Kirk and Brendan Todd are buddies. Very close. Amazing stuff.

- Scottie and Sam Burns are each others favorites.

Don’t get me wrong, friends are great. But really who cares. These dudes are soft. Tiger wasn’t out there to make friends or hand out participation trophies. He was there to woop arses and win titles. Everyone is too friendly out there! Start talking smack to liven it up a bit, huh?

He's running out of options - Aimpoint and/or the broom.

Luke List with the drive that JUST barely hangs out of the water, forcing him to drop his shoes and play the shot with both feet wet. Puts it onto the green. Makes birdie.

I did that once. Except I paid off the miraculous second shot that made the green with a three-putt bogey instead 😭

Did you know that Spieth and JT have known each other since they were kids? They get on so well that Spieth was best man for Thomas at his wedding.
