Valspar Championship 2024

The Copperhead Course at the Innisbrook Resort it the venue for the final event of the PGA Tour's Florida swing. A decent field is assembled and headlined by two of last weeks runner's up in Xander Schauffele and Brian Harman. Both are camped out in the World Top 10 and will hope to go one better than their efforts last week. Last time out, Taylor Moore recorded his maiden Tour win having posted a number and then waited for Jordan Spieth to do Jordan Spieth things and fritter away shots when he could least afford it. Spieth returns this week to a course where he has a good history. As well as his close run thing last year, he won his second Tour event here back in 2015 before proceeding to have the season of his dreams. Some 9 years on (how is that possible) that Spieth is but only a memory. These days he seems stuck in an endless game of one step forward and one step back whenever he tees it up. Loyal Spieth fans are being sorely tested but will hope that a return to a favoured venue may provide the snake oil that he needs to rediscover something closer to his younger years. The same can be said for his buddy Justin Thomas. After three early season Top 10's it seemed like JT may well be on the road to recovery. That he has followed that with two weekend's off out of 3 has pumped the breaks on that somewhat but he too seems to have had some decent finishes over the Copperhead and the time to shine for he and many others may come whilst some of the bigger names take some time off as we get closer on the countdown to some event coming up in Georgia.

Man the course is unreal shape. Greens have firmed up nicely and then Fridays rain is going to ruin it.

Spieth. That was also one heck of a tournament, still got it taped for trainer bike divertissement in the winters. Close race, a lot of energy, Reed in his top 5 era, playoff with Spieth and OHair, Spieth draining a long one to shut Pat up.

I'm at LEAST going to watch the tourney until all 3 of my brackets are thoroughly busted... So probably Friday noon-ish...

Watching PGA golf only.  Thunderstorms rolling in about midnight, so no golf play for me.

 

ETA: right on time.  As the sunrise was supposed to happen, the skies opened up and it’s pouring hard.  Tourney is on and coffee in hand.  🙂

The NCAA Tournament rivals The Masters as my favorite sporting event.  Basketball for me, but will definitely be splattered with some Valspar!  The Copper Head and Island courses at Innisbrook are a fun play.

Many worrying signs in JT's game at the moment particularly the volume of incredibly wild shots he is hitting.

When Adam Schenk and Brendan Todd highlight a featured group you know it’s a bad week on tour. But I’m watching, like I always do.

 

i think going from the Players coverage to this coverage is a letdown because these cameras don’t pick up anything unique about the course. I know the guys like it but from the TV viewing standpoint it looks like they are playing the same 3 holes over the course of the round.

I beg your pardon. Brendon Todd is one of my favorites, please don't' slander his name or his game.🤣 Todd is one of the shortest drivers of the golf ball on tour yet he competes all the time. I know your apology is forthcoming, I'll wait.🤣 (truth & sarcasm all the way)

I'm with you on this. JT spraying the ball all over the lot. He's hanging in there though.

 

If anyone thinks that today's pro doesn't hit it crooked has never watched PGAT LIVE.

 

As I'm typing he hits it stiff on hole number eight Par 3.

i was listening to the radio broadcast and they werent conveying those things.
