Can't get a read on if you're being sarcastic or not lol... But I will say that the Kirkland V2 wedges are fantastic. I know many won't even consider them, but they are really good and worth a look

Not sarcastic really...maybe some humor. But didn't see this posted as an option.

Kirkland makes great stuff, and the best part is the return policy.

Unless you're a low handicap player, I can't imagine not giving these a try if you're trying to save a few bucks : )

With clearance prices of old stock or one hit wonders its hard to pass up a proven product.

RTX anything has my vote. CBX is super easy to hit and high spin too.

I recently picked up two CBX 2 wedges in almost new condition from Callaway CPO for less than $130 shipped.  Maple hill still has some of the closeout new CBX Full Face for less than $80 shipped.

The deals are there, just have to find them and jump on them when you see it, they never last long.

Here's a great deal on an off brand wedge.  3 wedges for $70, add $5 more of anything and it's free shipping.  This is a classic wedge design that's been around for a long time.  I might buy just for the heads.

So many of the DTC brands are using 1025 or S20 or some other soft metal and forging their heads.  Many of the OEM guys are using 8620 metal to make their wedges.  No one I have found casts 1025 or S20, 1025 and S20 are just softer metals so they feel softer.  8620 can be easily forged or cast, and NO ONE will tell the difference. Forging vs casting is not the change in softness, it is the metal used in the process.  Forging is more expensive, it just is, so you are getting a softer metal made in a more expensive process, for normally a cheaper price with many of the DTC. If a company says forged but doesn't say the metal type it is probably 8620, Dt-4(much cheaper than 10 or S metals) or something else, both are harder than 10 or S series metals.

Ignore anyone who says Forging feels softer and refuses to talk about the metal used, they are uninformed and sre feeding you misinformation.

-=- Off my soapbox -=-

I tend to like softer wedges, which are 1020, 1025, s20 or some other soft metal and they are forged because of the metal used.  However, I know what grinds suit me from both Cleveland and Titleist, not to mention TM, Mizuno, Ping, Callaway, etc because I have been to a demo day and tested them in the turf.  Titleist T grind suits me best for how I hit shots with my 60, and the Cleveland 56(bent to 55) suits me best for the shots I play with it.  There are Pings and Callaways that are close to the 60 and 56 and Mizuno and TM have one close on the 56, but not quite as good.

I tried a few DTC wedges(No name mentioned because it is not a problem with the club itself) that was supposed to be the same as the 56 cleveland I play and the 60* Titleist I play.  They were not the same.  If any of the DTC companies had a Demo day where I could hit them off the turf I could probably find exactly what I need, but without that I am just taking a flyer.

If you are taking a flyer already and guessing on your grind, you are better off doing that with many of the DTC companies and their better return abilities, or going to Global Golf and doing the U-Try to figure it out for the OEM and only losing out on 25 or 35 bucks depending upon when you do it what they are charging if you don't keep it.

Maybe I'm weird or just not good enough, but I see very little difference in performance between most similarly-shaped and shafted clubs, i.e. Vokey, Cleveland, Sub70, etc. The main difference comes in finding the right grind and shape for you. Once you have that, I believe there is very little difference in brand and/or cost - so get used, get DTC, do whatever will make you happy.

I have 3-year old Tommy Armor 845's (the last year that they were forged) and they still provide the exact same spin and distance as the brand new RTX demos at my TrackMan facility. I had a free wedge fitting and the Vokeys won, but not by a margin that was significant. I actually liked the Mizuno T22's the best, but didn't want to pay the price for those.

As you can see, I have 3 different brands of wedges, but they all swing similarly, so I'm happy. When I need to do replacements, I'll have a hard time spending more than the $90 Black Friday sale for the Sub70's, but I'm not playing competitively or for big money to justify paying $80 more for a 2% difference at most.

I think you bring up a really good point!  Barring unique playing conditions where you need specific grinds or bounce, if you are a decent player you can play with ANY brand of wedges.  I actually think finding the right shaft that you can "work" on half swings and even shorter shots is more important than the brand.  Swing weight matters a lot to me with non-full swings as well, which it may not for a more talented player but my timing is awful if the head feels too heavy or doesn't feel at all from being too light.

People act like one company or another has some magical groove technology or one is better because of tour usage, but YOU and I still have to stand over the ball and execute regardless.  That's why instead of paying a premium for a name, I like to put my money into the shaft.  No matter what brand you buy, it will wear out in X amount of rounds/time.

Look at the Ben hogan equalizer 2.

I also have this wedge in the 50* and 54* and love them. Good flight, not a ton of sole versatility (they do have V-Sole) so they are primarily a full swing club for me. I have had them (the black finish) for 2+ years and they have held up exceptionally well.

Edison….best wedges I have ever used, incredible from tight/bare lies

Careful there. Edison blocked me on Facebook for calling them a DTC brand. They cost as much or more than the big OEMs. OP said he looked for good value in wedge due frequency of replacement compared to other clubs.

I've been playing the Acer XB's for a few years now and am quite happy with them. However, it did take a bit to get used the the rounded leading edge.

These are the wedges I have in my bag, albeit in graphite instead of steel. Maybe not everybody's cup of tea, but I've enjoyed them over these last few months and the current price ($70 for the set) is hard to beat.

https://www.ramgolf.com/ram-golf-pro-spin-3-wedge-set-52-gap-56-sand-60-lob-wedges/

Bag on a budget (current setup=about $500 total):

Driver: TaylorMade R9 460 10.5 (purchased used)

3W: Adams Speedline F11 (purchased used)

3H: System Golf Icon Plus (purchased used)

4UI: Turner 239

Irons (5-PW): Dynacraft Prophet Muscle Blades

Wedges (52, 56, 60): Ram Pro Spin

Putter: old Nitro putter with a DIY Blackburn Rovers paintjob

Coming soon: 3UI: Adams Pro DHy (assembly pending)

Unless you are SUPER specific about grinds and gapping Kirkland wedges (especially the new ones) are perfect for a large players. You can replace your set every year for the same price as one wedge from the major brands.

I've been pleased with the Maltby wedges I've picked up.  I have a Maltby Design 60*, it's an ancestor of the current Max Milled.  Excellent spin.  Regarding the sole, I'd worried about the wider sole of the 60, but it's been great.

Not using it currently only because my bag configuration is such that I'm not carrying a 60.  I'm giving thought to switching to 54/60, in which case the Maltby will be the 60 choice.

The Acer wedges mentioned...  I have a couple of these, bought on a lark.  They are surprisingly good.  The higher bounce suits my game, and I've adjusted to the somewhat unconventional shape of the clubhead.

I'm always surprised that more people don't realize how good the mIzzy wedges are, but you rarely hear them mentioned with the other expensive brands. What's wild is that they are the only 1 piece forgings among all of the major oems.  Per the Central Florida Mizzy rep, if you custom order through your club or through Mizuno directly and have 2* of lie angle change needed or more, they will not bend one that is already made, but actually make you one that is in your lie angle from scratch.  Never heard of any other company doing that.

New Level SPN wedges.  They're the previous gen models but are very soft.  I think they use forged S20 steel.  They feel softer than the Miura HB I have.  Raw finish as well for the guys that like to see that rusty finish.
