I Just ordered 919 Tours Sunday with S18 wedges. 2* strong, 3* upright, 1/4" long from Mizuno standard with PX LZ 6.5. 5-9i in the Tours, S18 Pw(44*)/Gw(49*)/Sw(54*)/Lw(59*). Im still undecided on what to do for the 4i slot. whether i want to go MMC 4i Fli-Hi, 919 Forged, or just toss in the tour 4i... what're your thoughts Tai?

Post of the year, lol! But seriously.. so true. Today I played with 3 pros and my buddy who's a +1. I had 7 birdies through 12 then the whiskey kicked in and I cooled way down.. shot -2 (70) as a 2 and was pretty happy with that.

 

The pros were pissed because they had to give me so many shots and I shot a good round.. but honestly.. I literally never practice, my warm up is jumping off a conference call on the tee box and pouring out some Nikka and just hoping for the best. Today it was really good, but most days are just like you said. It's really funny the difference in reaction when a 2 shoots 70 vs. when I shoot 79 or 80 :)

 

I just told them, you guys play for a living.. I play once a week if I'm lucky.. I just played well today, not sure what else to say. My game is definitely coming back.. my index is going to drop back down towards scratch. The Mizunos are $$$$ little ballooning in the CTL's, but overall still really like them. The 917 is still ole faithful, but today it was the Scotty.. very hot.

 

 

Working Dad golf is still once a week? Sign me up! That's more like single with no kids golf around here. One round every 3 or 4 weeks is my luck.

 

You gotta join a club where you can play a quick 9 in an hour. In my house that's called "honey i'm working a little later today i'll be home an hour late" :telephone: :golfer:

 

I miss those days dearly. I’ve got a 4 yo and one on the way and am lucky to get a handful of rounds/year these days. 60-80 hr at the office each week and weekends to catch up at home. If only they’d drawn my lotto numbers, I’d have a nanny and a tee time every day, lol.

Yes, I went with the TS3 8.5 with Fuji Speeder TR7 - it is a MONSTER! Longest Titleist driver I have owned, and still has the same playability characteristics I love about the Titleist drivers.

 

Still loving the JPX 919 Tours?

 

Yes, they are just really good. Sound/feel are so much better than my 718's and a performance is also better.

 

So Tai any updates on how things are going with the 919s and the S18s?

 

As said above.. really happy with the 919T's, I don't see them going anywhere. The S18's are also really nice on the course, have hit some amazing shots with them. I only have them in the PW and GW, so only full shots really with them, I can't comment on the SW or LW or how those grinds work, and will be sticking to what I know in the Vokey V-Grind.

 

Highly recommend trying the Mizzy's if you're considering them.

I am considering them going into next season and I'd do a similar set up to what you've got with the S18 PW and GW. The S18's look really good in those options but I'm not a big fan of them in the higher loft options. Thanks for the update and I hope you (and everyone else on here) has a great Thanksgiving.

Yes. They play like as a long iron replacement instead of trying to max out ball speed. They are very consistent in their flight.

Followed Tai however I went with the MP 18 SC/MB combo as I love the classic lines of the MP line. Really excited about this Fli Hi as I've tried the G400 cross over and i500 and both felt like s*** in my opinion.

I have one, brand new, sitting in a 4 Wood. It looks OUTSTANDING! Won't get a chance to hit it until we thaw out up here. I had NO expectation of liking, gaming; as a matter of fact I already had a shaft lined up for the head, but the TR line just looks so good in person I have to consider it. Their heaviest option is still a touch on the lighter side (77g I believe) so I'm a bit apprehensive to jump in with both feet. Considering it for the Driver. We'll see.

I saw the Epic Flash in the wild the other day, I might be able to hit it this week, but first glance is that this might by the nicest shaped Callaway head I've seen in a while. So nice that I'll be testing it against my TS3.

 

TS3 has been $$$$. This weekend our club takes the top 24 in MGA annual points and splits them up 12 on 12 for a Ryder Cup match for some cash/dinner etc.. as a thank you for participating in MGA but also playing well.. so let's just say there were some "good for their index" type of guys. I got 10 of 11 possible points in my matches and one of the halves was a 9 hole match against a 12 where I shot 33 to tie him on the last hole.. and I'm playing as a 2. Anyways.. old man golf update :)

I’m really enjoying the Mizuno T7 wedges. The 50 looks like a little blade. They feel so good to. You can get em cheap also. I ordered a 46 and 58 the other day to go along with my 54 and 50.
