Best par 3 ever played?

My favorite long par 3 is the 5th hole at Pine Valley. 230y uphill to a small green with no good place to miss.

All of the par 3s at Pine Valley are great. The 3rd is actually my personal favorite.
180 yards downhill to a green that slopes severely from right to left. Many different ways to get the ball close to the pin if you hit the right shot but do not miss in the bunker right of the green.

10 is 140y to a small sloping green with a very small, famous bunker in front right with a great nickname.

14 is the last par 3. 185 yards downhill to a green well protected by water and sand.

Here's one from down under for you guys

 

It's the fifth at Barnbougle Dunes in northern Tasmania. Quick edit - it is 220yds or 201metres in length.

 

 

This is the view from the tee box

 

 

The course is set in links land on the edge of Bass Strait which runs between mainland Australia and the island of Tasmania. A 2nd 18 hole course is due to open later this year.

Since Pine Valley #5 has already been posted, how about #13 at Punta Espada at Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic? 250 over the ocean!

I tossed a DART on the 3rd hole. Tremendous hole, one of my favorites on the course (I feel like I say that when I talk about all of them though...)

I would add a few that haven't been said, but are definitely among the best par 3s in golf:

#11 @ Plainfield Country Club, one of Ross' best par 3s.
#4 @ Hollywood, Walter Travis gem.
#2 @ Somerset Hills, on a very short list for best par 3 in the US.

17 Bandon Trails. Great setting, and seems to be influenced by the 5th at Royal Melbourne West, which itself has some qualities of the Eden at The Old Course. It's got a pedigree, haha.

I like the 7th at Palmetto GC as well. Cool aerial shot, figured I'd add a few tee-level. VERY tiny green. It's a frightening hole!

14th on the South Course at my club, Whitmoor CC in St. Louis. 210 from the tips, water in front hazard left, steep slope behind the green. Tough and pretty hole.

#11 Shinnecock Hills
140y from the back tees to a tiny, sloping green. The green is on the highest point of the property so wind is very much a factor.

Probably not the "best", but probably the most unique! This is at a muni course in Winnipeg, and the 10th hole is actually over (or under) railway tracks!

not played this yet but off to Neyfn is Wales, this par 3 is 154 yards and you have to climb up a lighthouse & tee off from the roof.

17th at Bethpage is never fun but always challenging. Towards the end of a grueling day your faced with this shot to an elevated green where the only part visible is the giant slope that splits the green in two. Good luck.

 

 

#4 at National Golf Links of America. Beautiful hole on a beautiful course. Known as the world's best Redan. On paper, this is probably the best par 3 i've played and I birdied it by tapping a 30 footer with 10 feet of break off the fringe!

 

 

the 12th at Montauk Downs. The picture doesn't do it justice. Being on the higest part of a windy course always makes this hole a different challenge.

 

 

Blue Canyon CC, Phuket, Thailand.

Chipped in for birdie from that little speck of land short of the green that jets into the lake.

The 12th hole is also an incredible 225 yard downhiller looking East to the ocean


I played a fantastic coastal course 20 yrs ago in Australia on the Ocean, halfway btw Sydney and Melbourne
and i can't remember the bloody name of the place

Most atmospheric par three I have played and probably my all time favorite. Looks a lot better in real life at any time of year.
