Why is bubba always answering golf related questions with how he is not defined by his golf and he is a father and husband first. Who cares bubba !!! [s]We[/s] I don't watch you in golf tournaments because of the kind of family man you are. As a golf fan I want to know the golf related stuff. Who is he trying to convince? Big time dweeb that also likes to interject his faith in every other sentence as well. Like I said before. Stuff it bubba!!!! [s]We[/s] I only care about what you do on the golf course .

And to the OPs question, I think it's the other way around. I think it's ping that makes bubba look cool.
I fixed your post for accuracy. You may not care about Bubba's family life, but that doesn't mean that no one cares. A lot of people care, including me.

i dont think anything associated with bubba is cool. i find him to be a over grown immature whining baby who never seems to pass up the opportunity to let us all know how he " never follows the rules " and " i always do thing my way. "

please bubba. stuff it !!! your 34yro . stop acting like your in the same age group as Ricky Fowler or Rory.
and we are all pleased you have a happy family life. great!! but if i have to hear you answer another golf related question with the same " im just trying to be a good father and good husband " routine im gonna throw up in my mouth. :angry22:

I find Bubba to be one of the most genuine guys on tour. I hope he gives you a lot of opportunities throw up in your mouth in the future.

I've never met Bubba. He may be a great guy but to me he comes off as a self centered look at me jerk and has shown this many times on and off the course. To some degree, this adds interest and his game is fun to watch but why else would you brag about your $500k watch.

Wear it all you want but don't throw it's value in people's faces.

Bubba's always been a tricky one for me. I love watching him play because he's really exciting and has a unique style of play. I also have a thing for ping players but that's just because I'm a self admitted ping fanboy. But there does seem to be quite a few examples of him acting like a complete douchenozzle.

This is spot on. I'm amazed how many people look at Bubba's behavior on the golf course, and because he sheds a few tears here and there, he's all of a sudden "genuine"?

Give me a break. He's a walking contradiction. A certified A-hole on the course, and the 34yr old jokster religious nice guy off. News flash Gerry, I, and others, don't like you because of how you act when the heat is on, not when you are hugging 386 people after you sank that putt on #10 at Augusta.

In my opinion Ping has always been about the clubs, the fitting, the variety of options for everyone's swng and physical stature. Ping has always been this way, so I am not convinced they have dropped out of being cool.

Ping for example would never pay 100-200 million for a player to play thier clubs -that's just not their style. Its about clubs not magazine covers and self promotion.

Ping has been cool for as long as I can remember. Bubba maybe made it more cool? :D
I remember playing Pings back in the early 80's and traded my Ping iron set with a buddy's Titleist blades because everyone was playing blades back then. I was actually playing pretty good with those Pings and couldn't do jack with the blades. I didn't know any better back then in high school. :D

i respect your opinion. its very  heart warming  that you have so much care for bubba and what he has to say about his family life. i dont wish anything bad for bubba . he is just not my kind of guy and judging by other WRXs post it does not seem like bubba is fooling anyone with his wanna-be persona.
to the same point , i am a sports fan. when a athlete i am interested in is being iterviewed and questioned on an event they just completed i want to know what was going on in their head about the said event. what were they thinking, feeling. what was the strategy that helped them win. not what is going in the athletes personal life with the exception of maybe a sudden loss in the athletes family.
how frustating is it to watch a boxing match and in the post match interview when asked about the match the boxer goes on and on thanking God and the promoter and his financial team.
imagine that at the end of an NFL football game in the post game press confrence with the head coach he answered the questions with how much of a good father and husband they are trying to be and that is their first pryority.
Reporter- hey coach, on 3rd and 10 what was the reason for running the ball with 10 seconds left on the clock
Coach - well i would like to answer the question by saying that my wife and family are my pryority and football games dont define the person i am .

The coolest part of Ping is the variety of models their players are using, now that is how OEM's should do it. You can custom order a variety of past models from Ping. I hate the fact that some of these companies pay their players not only to play there clubs but they must play the latest models, Ping is different is that. To me this says a ton about a company and the product they are producing. So Ping was cool when Bubba came on board and is still cool, the cool factor from Bubba is mostly due to Ping!

Chuck Klosterman wrote an interesting piece about ABBA once where he said they had staying power because, no one ever was super into them but no one was ever super against them....Not that ABBA has anything to do with this but i think it's the same with Ping.

They have never been the coolest MFR, they have never been an uncool MFR

they just make unique clubs, have a pretty loyal following, don't annoy non-followers with ridiculous ads. No one hates Ping....They are like the girl who's like a 7.5 on 10 and has a great personality. The hot girls like her because they don't perceive her as a threat, everyone else likes her because she is pretty cool

Ping is the 7.5 girl who lives next door. I would totally do it with Ping

Brilliant observation. Well written. Great post!

Well, judging Bubba is a tough thing to do when he's had so many issues in the past with temper and temperament. He's critical of anything he doesn't see as being "right" which is going to put a lot of people off. Let's remember, this guy was critical of the European Tour and Augusta National's membership policy last year. Despite the religion and family-oriented lifestyle choices, he clearly doesn't mind speaking his opinion which isn't always all that informed.

I could do without religion in sports just like a lot of things but I don't think a having a few players on tour like Bubba, Zack and Ben who are all devout in their beliefs is necessarily a bad thing. It does send a good message and to be honest, so much of golf comes out of the south that "faith" is inevitably going to be part of many players' lives which means we'll all hear about it at some point or another when they're behind the microphone.

Ping makes great equipment. Always has.
^ This.....and like I stated in another thread...I have grown tired of him and I miss the pre Masters Bubba.....That is all.
He does seem to whine quite a bit about everything happening on the course. However, being a new dad is the best experience there is....don't blame him at all for gushing about it.

Bubba might be a good player, but cool??? No.

Ping isn't a "cool" brand, and never has been. It is a brand that makes excellent clubs, without having to resort to gimmicks.

No, an observation from someone who can remember wjen ping first started making irons, and can remember the uncool stigma attached to playing the new shovels. Wrong again.

Ping appears to be a quality company and I know that it makes quality equipment. One of the things that I appreciate most about Bubba is his lack of hanger-on homeys, multiple coaches, nutritionist, sports psychologists, pr people, etc., etc. Someone's opinion of him means nothing to me unless they know him personally. As far as the watch is concerned, I thought the manufacturer was a sponsor. They might like to be mentioned once in a while.
