Most game improvement PING i series irons

Which PING i series iron of recent time is the most closet to game improvement irons? I have G series irons and wanted to try to move up but in trying to lessen the jump,

wanted some feedback as to which i series irons provide maybe a little bigger clubhead and good forgiveness. Any thoughts are appreciated.

I would say anything from the i20 on up to the new i210. Realistically they are all pretty much the same, except that the i20 & 25's are made with traditional Ping 17-4 SS and the i200 and 210's are made with 431 SS. Most golfers will not tell the difference, but Ping says the 431 is a bit softer. As far as game improvement and forgiveness they will be closest to what you have currently.

I went from G10s to i15 love them except for the badges. I find them easier to hit then the g10s. I have heard great things about i20s and i25s. Don't think you could go wrong with any.

I210 has the largest MOI so it's arguably the most forgiving. Maltby has the specs.

i210s are very playable and feel so soft! If those scare you, go G410s. They fit between G400 and i210s(according to my Ping rep.) ;)

The G410 is actually a bit smaller than the G400 and it is the smallest-headed G-series iron PING ever made. Like Ness said, if you want to go "i", go i210. If you want the most forgiveness in a head smaller than what you have now, give the G410 a look.

Thanks guys. Going to try to 210’s and 410’s this weekend. Prefer the look of the 210’s but will see which performs for me.

Agree and imo the 2 best in this group is the i20 and i210

I'd go all the way to the Iblade or S55.

Find a cheap used set and jump right in.

 

I took baby steps in my journey from G30's to CB-57 and I wish i didn't.

It started with JPX900 HM, then JPX900 Forged, then MP25's.

I found the smaller the club, the better I hit them since it forced me to make concentrated swings.

All it takes is a short range session to find out where the sweet spot is and where to address the club to give your swing the best chance of hitting it.

Don't know about the more recent offerings but the i15's are very easy to hit and a very good option for the budget conscious.

Very playable in the long irons too.

+3 and i believe maltby even shows this as the most GI of all of the I series. either way, they are the most forgiving IMO. great prices now too!

 Im gaming the i200 right now and Ie1 before that. Both are great sets of irons but the Ie1´s have a bigger footprint and are a little more forgiving in my mind.

I've been real happy with my i20s. Given their product cycle age, you can find a pretty good set for reasonable prices on the Internet.  Sure worth a try.

Another vote for the ie1. Just switched to them at the end of last year after 2+ years with the i25’s. There’s not a huge difference but the long irons look better and are slightly easier to hit.

Currently game IE1, I thought they were better then I200 but I have not tried the I210.

G410 can give them a run for their money but that is a G-Iron but probably has the same offset as the IE1 irons.

I've played the i3+, i20, i25 and ie1. Of those 4 I would say the ie1.

Just started playing with the Ping ie 1 irons and really like them.

I had been gaming the Ping GMax irons but tired of looking at those fat soles

Maybe the GMax were a bad fit for me but I hit the ie 1 irons longer,straighter and they are just as forgiving (if that is even a real thing) as the GMax irons

Bought my ie 1 iron set 4-Pw for $250.00 shipped off ebay so now if can sell my GMax iron set for anywhere close that amount I will be happy.Feel like I have upgraded my iron game at fairly low cost.
