Love that setup! One of the setups on tour that you could imagine good players at your club rocking.

He did have his best driving year with the Rogue Black, I wonder why he ever went away from that. The Ventura is a similar profile though, curious to see how that goes!

In my opinion the IZ is low spinning compared to his historical normal style shaft in driver. I thought that’s when he started really struggling with driver.

Possibly, yeah. I remember an article where Titleist talked about fitting him into the 915 and saying his spin was too low with his old Blueboard and that the Rogue Black was used to bring his spin up a bit. If his spin was down yet again in the TS head, which seems likely, then maybe it was a matter of finding the right shaft again. The Ventus is stiffer in both the butt and the tip over the IZ and i'm curious what his numbers were/are now. I think the article said he normally shoots for around 2,500 spin.

Right, my understanding was that the Ventus is just as low or lower spinning.

Got my fingers crossed the Ventus helps him out. I think it was more interesting when he was playing well. He hasn’t been hitting fairways yet but it seems to help him miss only one way so far. Hopefully he figures it out and starts driving it better.

I think that the IZ had too soft of a midsection for his swing, promoting a little more errancy. I really hope for the best with the Ventus - so far, it's been about the same accuracy..

Spieth is in the "too short to hit it that crooked" camp (as am I). While not short by any means, he can't seem to overpower a course from the long stuff.

Β

Always enjoyed watching him play at his best, hope he gets back there soon.
