srixon 745's WOW!!!!!!

So I see you can't get a gap wedge to match the set. Is this true? I kind of like a GW that matches my irons since I use it mostly for 3/4 and full shots. Does everyone just use a traditional 50* wedge?

I'd also point out the z745 GW - available used in North America if someone is selling it or new from Japan - really doesn't match the set IMHO. It fits in way better with the z945. I had one and quickly sold it.

I put a quick comparo pic up at the time: http://www.golfwrx.c...st__p__11361815

I have the GW. Contrary to my initial impressions, I agree with you that the shape doesn't blend that well with the rest of the set. It's more rounded. But, I still find the club to be a very good performer. Much prefer it to my SM5 50° and it feels a hell of a lot better too.

I just played my first round with my new Srixon Z745's yesterday. I was initially worried about the transition period playing with new irons, but I immediately started playing better with the 745's than my set of Mizuno MP-53's that I've been gaming for the past year. Biggest couple of things that I noticed at the range was that I was immediately went from being happy with 3 or 4 out of 10 Shots with my Mizuno's to being happy with 7 or 8 out of 10 Shots with the 745's. So, I've been smiling a lot more at the range. I've also noticed that my mis-hits have been tending to go much straighter and closer to the expected distance than with my old irons. My very first round played with them was yesterday and I played 3 strokes below my handicap, which I thought was pretty dang incredible! I've been playing a Cobra Fly Z 3/4 hybrid and 4/5 hybrid. From what I've read here, I think that I'm now going to pick up a Z545 3 iron. After that, I need to determine if I want to play the 745 4 iron or swap that out to a 545 as well and drop both of my hybrids. FWIW, I have S300 shafts in both my Mizuno MP53's and my Srixon Z745's. I couldn't be more pleased with these irons!

I've only had 3 rounds with the 745's but am very happy with them and they are so much straighter and stickier than my Apex 14's and I didn't "turbo launch" any approaches. I haven't had as many CTP's on par 3's in years either.

Even a few thin shots still stayed on the green and checked up. No problems at all hitting the 6 iron straight and a reasonable 175yds........and it's plenty long enough for me although I still have a gap between it and my Apex 5 hybrid which can sneak out 195 sometimes.

I couldn't resist the steel shaft upgrade sale and ordered mine last Friday: 5-7 in z545, 8-9 in z745, and the PW in z945 all with Nippon Modus3 tour 105's, plus GP new decade grips as a free upgrade as well. Never tried that shaft, but it seems to fit the profile I'm looking for. Not exactly easy to find Srixon demos in Wyoming...

Been playing my 745 since spring. My swing has been really off with my irons so have been putting in countless hrs on the range and course. It seems to be paying off.Cant believe how soft theses irons feel when struck properly and the looks are fantastic.Dont quite have my range ball consistentcy on the course, but working on it.Picked up the 3 and 4 utility irons and have just ordered my Cart bag.

Took my 745s out of the bag for a little while but they are going back in this week... I tried finding some "more forgiving" irons, but I have not found anything yet that really makes the 745s play less forgiving.

Versus AP2? I'm sure somebody's compared the two somewhere in this thread, but it's a long thread...

Been playing MP25...they're good, but I don't love the turf interaction I'm getting with them. Looking for a marginally wider sole with a little less dig.

I did try the 714 AP2 for a short while, before the 745s... I loved the 710 version, but wasn't impressed by the 714 and I really wanted to be. I sold them and bought the 745s and haven't found anything that performs better for me, looks better, or feels better. I am sure the V sole has a lot to do with it, but these clubs are so nice through the turf for me so they may be worth a try for you.

Very interested in a combo set with 745 7-PW... I play mostly of tight lies and am wondering how the bounce will affect my approach shots. Let me know if any of you have experience hitting these sticks off extremely tight lies. Thanks!

15 rounds on links or heathland last autumn in the UK, 2 trips to Bandon (which you are obviously referring to ;)) last year, and playing through drought conditions here.

Never a problem, they work a charm.

I might have S55s in my sig, but the z745s, along with some Fly Z Pros, are in my playing rotation. Fantastic irons, go buy a set!

714 AP2s to Apex CF16 to combo set 545/745. I was fit for the Apex at Callaway and now have the Srixon on order. I have a loaner set now with the wrong shaft and wrong grip just played my first 9 with them. Hit 5 out of 9 greens. These are amazing but I'm trying to hold in my enthusiasm until I get my custom set. PS: The Apex just didn't do it for me. Feel wasn't that great imo although forgiveness was. Kind of chunky coming from AP2's. Honestly I don't need my 7 iron to go 200 yards.

I'm going to post a full review after I get the Srixons in my hands.

Thought I'd chime in that I finally found a Z545 AW - from someone on amazon (shipped from Japan) and I paid $20 extra over the 169 price and it was here in literally one week.

I couldn't believe it showed up... costly yes but finally got the club to complete my set

Well done in finding the AW - but wow i think you go ripped off on the price. Currently on global Rakuten a new Z545 AW will cost you about US$110 (including shipping)!

Can anyone compare the 745 AW with a RTX 52 wedge? Looks like there 2 degrees less of bounce in the 745 but that's about it. Feel wise, are they similar? Are you able to chip well with the 745? If you have the AW, what's your next wedge or two in the bag?

Thanks!

745 AW is a lot softer better feel

Where do you find these?

Unless things have change appreciably in the past year, Atomic Golf off Rakuten (as mentioned two posts up) or search here/eBay for a used one.

So after 10 rounds with these I can honestly say they are the best irons I've ever owned. I'm as big a hoe as anyone, but these have me wanting to never change again. They're plenty long, plenty forgiving, and look and feel phenomenal. If anyone has any doubt, don't. They're unreal. Keeping these things as long as I can!!!
