What Did You Shoot Today? (Continuation)

Even par for 9 holes. 56* and a 10-15 mph breeze.

Birdied 4 out of the first 6 holes and missed a 8ft up hill left to righter on 6.

Greens were holding some sandy winter dressing so they were kinda funky.

Bogey 7&8 and then found my drive on 9 in the middle of a wet, sand filled divot.

Double......

Sloppy 78 in good scoring conditions. No wind and 60-65 degrees. No birdies, two three putts, didn't make a putt all day, chunked three wedges from 110 yards in, and irons were poor. I hit my driver, 3-wood, and 3 hybrid pretty good, so I got that going for me. Haha.

I like this thread, so you can vent. It is like "golfer's anonymous." :D

Current goal is bogeys or better. More specifically, on in no more than one over regulation, and no more than two putts.

BKN,

Played 27 holes yesterday. Shot 14/13 over front/back.

However, it was when I played the back 9 again that gives me some hope that I may be able to play this game somewhat respectably. Shot 10 over, but 6 of those strokes were from 3 putts (or worse). If I were to shoot 4 over per 9, I'd be a happy camper right now.

BTW - This is one of my favorite topics on this board because it lets us see the range of scores that people shoot on a regular basis.

Midweek roll up stableford comp yesterday. Big 45 point winner right here (15hc at present). Was 1 over gross after 9. Had 2 doubles on the back along with another bogey to put me 6 over (76) for the round. My best 18 ever.

Highlights were a chip in birdie from 45 feet on 2 & a 25 foot putt for birdie at 3.

76 yesterday. It had been two week since I swung a club and it showed.

Scrambled my a** off for an even par 71. I missed every fairway on the front and hit only 8 greens in regulation on the day. But, I got up and down 9/10 times and found an easy one after an approach to 3 feet on 15. Final stats were 5/14 fairways (2/11 with driver), 8/18 greens, 26 putts, 1 birdie, 1 bogey. It was both incredibly frustrating because I drove the ball so poorly, but also very satisfying because my short game really came through. I scored about as well as I possibly could have based on the way I was hitting it.

76 on my first round and 75 on my second. Good ball striking but the ball isn't flying that well since, despite the Spring temperatures, it's still February in Chicago.

First round of the year since the weather is in the 60s in Kentucky (unusual versus previous years). Shot a 54 for nine holes. Driving was terrible, had about four lost balls, and my approach shots were all over the place. Almost hit a group of players on the first tee when I tried my approach to the ninth hole. Just embarrassing all around.

81, which sucked.

However, I played with one of my regular partners for the first time since he returned from a months practice in the US. He shot 61, and it could easily have been a 59. One of the best contstructed rounds of golf I have ever seen, and has gone from being pretty good off the tee to an absolute beast in the space of a month, thanks to sessions with a biomechanics guru. He added 11 mph club head speed in less than 5 weeks, and is flying his driver about 30-35 yes further than before he left.

An ugly 44 for 9 holes. Was doing great until we caught up to the Slowskis. +1 thru 4. After waiting 5 minutes to hit my 2nd from the fairway on the 5th hole I proceeded to make a triple. Followed with doubles on the next two and a 3-putt from 15 feet on the 9th. Don't know why slow play ahead messes me up so bad.

Got out yesterday afternoon... not great conditions but still a blast. The winds were forecasted in the 15-25mph range and rainy but it was fine when I left the house. By the time I teed off, I was starting to regret my decision. It was windy and it had started to rain at a pretty steady clip. Everything was soaked and I was struggling holding onto the club. The wind knocked my bag and cart over on 10 and broke my umbrella. Awesome. Luckily it didn't rain all that much after that.

Onto the golf... I struggled with the wind early and missed fairway and green right but got up and down for a really nice par. Knocked a wedge close on 3 for a kick in birdie and was on 7 tee at 1-under with typical birdie holes at 7, 8 & 9. 7 & 9 are both short 4s (both under 380) and 8 is a 550y par 5 that usually yields a decent birdie chance. On 7, I yanked my drive left and clipped a tree, leaving me with 200+ yards into a 370y hole. I came up just short of the green with a 5i and couldn't get up and down. Back to Even. On 8, I had a good birdie chance but couldn't get it to drop. 9 was another good look but no dice.

Nearly chipped in on 10 and missed another good birdie look on 11 but I was still even at that point. 12 is the most difficult hole on the course for me and I made a terrible choice of taking driver off the tee when the hole really doesn't call for it. Pulled it left and into the hazard, dropped a shot there. 13 is another really difficult hole and I haven't birdied it for about 3 years. I came up short after a good 3w off the tee and a 5i just short. I hit a great chip shot and it was tracking right from the start. I thought it was going to come up just short but just rolled in. After a good wedge on 14, I had about 8 feet for birdie, but it just caught the edge and spun out. 15 is another tough hole, left the approach well short of the pin and had a lengthy birdie putt - great speed and a good 2 putt. 16 is a short 3 and I mishit a 9i into the front bunker. Had a really nice up and down from there. My drive on 17 was long, but a little left. I missed the green short and couldn't get up and down after a really poor pitch. 18 is a 510y par 5. I had a great tee shot, but my long approach just drifted right on me and left me with a really tough flop shot over a bunker without a lot of green to work with. I hit it decent but it ran away a bit, leaving me with a 15 footer to get back to even. 1 rotation short! Tapped in for a 73.

All in all, a pretty good round.

6/14 fairways - Actually drove the ball better than stats show. My drive on 7 cost me a shot and my drive on 12 did too, but that was really more of a poor decision than anything.

10/18 GIRs - Not great, but my misses were usually in good spots and had several within a couple feet of being on the green

29 putts - Not bad, but really had a couple missed opportunities in there.
